Ever wanted to use an h-shifter in NFS Heat? Say no more..

Setup Guide

This program can be used with any h-shifter that supports custom keymappings.
What you'll want to do is map your shifter gears to keys 0 - 8 (not NUMPAD keys!) like this:
Note that I have a shifter with 6 gears. This program supports up-to 8 gears.


Once you've done all that, launch the game, set your transmission to manual in settings and hop into a session (you cannot be inside the garage).

After you load into the game, launch Heat-HShifter2.exe.

The program should take between 10-60 seconds to load.
Once that's done, you should see an ASCII display of the current gear.

That's it, enjoy!

Issues & Limitations

The only issue is that you have to trigger a "rescan" after you enter and exit the garage, or change cars.

Yea I got you. So in the program, do you see a message about the automatic scanner finding 'x' number of addresses? Have you tried switching through them using the '+' key on your numpad? After the initialization and/or switching addresses, the first shift will require shifting into 2 different gears for the game to display the gear change. Afterwards, it should work normally.

Yeah when I press the number keys on my keyboard (not numpad) it shows the same output as if I was shifting with my shifter. It's just that the numbers on my keyboard don't change the gears in game in the first place so swapping the binding on my shifter wouldn't work because those numbers do nothing in game if that makes sense.

Interesting, is the program outputting anything in the console when you press the numbers? Does it report that a keyboard hook was successfully registered? Also, is the initialization process where the program asks to shift from 4th to reverse gears complete? The keyboard hook is only registered after this process is completed, but it needs to be completed using default shifting binds first.

I'm using English keyboard layout and I'm pressing my regular numbers 1-9 not using numpad. Got any suggestions? My brother's number keys also do not change gears for him either. I got the program to recognize when I shift but 1-8 number keys don't change gear with keyboard so it still doesn't work. Thanks for the response

@Pho Make sure you're NOT using NUMPAD, and that your keyboard input language actually lets you type the numbers when you press them. Some languages will result in typing special characters instead of numbers.

From my understanding this will only work if number keys change the gears. But when I press my number keys on keyboard nothing happens. Please help
