New Game
You can't play the game if you dont give a start right?

So, here's the thing

When creating a new game, currently it'll ask for 4 things

-Starting Location: Should be as short as possible if you want to branch more the world, or as long as possible if you want to hunt for specific themed items, and for that you'll use instances, but we'll talk about that later.

-World Backstory: It's a short description of the world. Try using words that describe the level of magic, technology and richness of the world, it'll have a great impact in what it'll be. But if you just want a silly prompt you can go wild and write something like: "A place full of pizza shops" or etc, its vague, but it works and it'll turn out funny

-Physical Description of your character: The name says everything but here's a tip. If you put a keyword for your race there will probably be enemies on sometimes that will easyly kill you. For example, if you describe yourself as a werewolf there will be at some point werewolf hunter enemies and that might cause you trouble depending on how the ai plays out. So try writting as "Has fangs and claws" and "Big as a wolf"

Last but not least important the game will ask for your backstory:

Im not entirely sure but it probably affects what your first quest will be and some npcs and places that might appear. If you describe yourself as a god for example game will put other deities and powerful entities in the game
Navigating Through The Map
Navigation through the map has 4 core mechanics that we'll be talking about

-Places on the main screen
-Go Back
-Instances
-Portals

So, let's start

Places on the Main Screen

It's the main way of moving through the game.

Clicking in this will lead you to an area one level above of the current. Each area has 1-3 new aread to navigate to, 2 npcs and 2 enemies. This is the basic of every area on the game

Go Back

Note that the eye below this function or above the name of locations means you already have been there, meaning it'll take less to load

It's also one of the main functions of navigating you can use it either to return to the previous location or if you use in a area that was the first of the branch. Being those, your starter area, areas you create by using portals, we'll explain later in this section, or if you just keep pressing again and again it'll have the same effect

Instances

This appears on every location and it's number resets everytime you go through a new location using the other methods. But anyway. Instances are a way of exploring the area over and over again, being an easy wal to harvest items with the same theme

Clicking on the down arrow will increase the instance level by one, leading you to the same location but in a different map. Meaning that it'll generate other types of items, locations and enemies. Dont worry, you can click the up arrow to return to the normal levels. It's quite an advanced mechanic and you can use it to bias the AI to generate places you might want to go.

Portals

Portals appears after you defeat a legendary boss. How do i know if i found a legendary boss you ask? That's easy, First there will be no new locations to go at the boss location, second they have a red nuclear explosion like symbol besides their name, and third, the log warns you if you find one.

After you defeat a legendary boss a message will appear on a new window
Friendly NPCS

NPCS, are the second main thing you have on the screen. You can:

Talk
This is more story focused, it's good for getting side quests. Still there is a chance of getting loot or entering a fight with said npcs. There isnt much about this feature honestly

Use Item/Hability

-It can either start a fight with said npc. Or it can heal you too having the normal effect of healing. It depends on what the AI decides and you dont have much control of that, because the AI can figure out you attack as a friendly spare fight. the downside is that the game will use full force of your pc reforces because it'll need to interpretate and generate a lot of text if you do this

[h1Gift][/h1]

The gift option work as the same as the use item/hability in terms of starting a fight or not, the difference tho is that you have the chance of recieving a item back and theyre usually of a higher rarity than the item you gave them
Enemies and Combat

As you can see here, this is where enemies are. Clicking on them will immediatly start a fight and enemies have 2 basic parameters. ( Please remember that you can also start a fight with friendly npcs and take note that using a consumable might also trigger a fight)

So basic parameters are:

-Level: Is used to determine how much HP the monsters will have and how much damage will cause
-HP: If you reduce the HP to zero the monster will die and you'll recieve rewards
-Damage: Is based on level difference, and if you have armor the damage will be reduced. Note that damage does not affect instant defeat mechanic

That being said we have to talk about instant defeat

Instant Defeat, text biasing and Plot Armor

In current 1.9 version it actually pretty difficult to hit a monster. And that is because different from other rpg games, the ai decides if you hit an enemy or not based on text interpreting. And thats why its important to read the log every time you make an attack and every time you recieve an attack, because it'll describe the situation and its based on that that it'll decide if someone was damaged or if someone instantly kills. Instant kill happens when you use the right skill in the right moment against the right enemie. Thats why its important to read skill and enemies descriptions. I'll give an example with two monsters

Imagine you have a fireblot spell and there are two monsters you wanna face, a normal monster called Infectous Disease and one legendary boss named Wood Elemental

Using the firebolt spell in the Wood elemental will probably cause an instant kill, meaning you'll win in the first round. Meanwhile If you use it in the Infectous Disease it'll not be effective and if they have a status effect that they infected you that means you could be the one to get instantly killed

And that's why plot armor comes in handy. You have 2 plot armor on the normal mode and they recharge everytime you heal. Plot Armor prevents you from getting instantly killed and recieve normal damage instead

To sum up, attack various times with weapons of high rarity if the fight doesnt go your way, use healing items to recover plot armor and be alert to what the log of battle says
Player Stats
This is short but important

Basically Player Have some key features

Level

Determines how much HP you have and how much damage you recieve from enemies. Level also affects armor and gaining a level will make your skills and weapons deal more damage

Damage

If you have no weapons equipped your weapon will be your fists. If you have a weapon the damage will be noted in the items description. Weapon attacks are good in the beggining, and also to bias text as you get higher rarity weapons.Damage increases as you level up

Skills

Skill are the most used to kill enemies with ease, they do a lot of damage, and usually can be used to instant kill enemies, their damage also increase when you level up.You start off with one skill and by equiping weapons you'll have more

Armor

Armor items are items that give an armor %. This % is how much of the damage will be reduced against enemies of the same level as you, if their level is higher it decreases, if your level is higher it increases.
Items, Crafting And Harvesting
Items are key to the game because its them that give you skills, heal you if they are consumable, give you advantage causing status effects and als you can throw them at enemies. You can adquire items in 4 ways

One and most simple:

-Defeating Enemies

Two:

Gifting and npcs another item

Three: Searching

This button can be pressed once in every location, it'll give you free items

Four: Harvesting Spot

Harvest spots are a thing on locations that might appear or not, they are random, and im not sure about the spawning %. Still, its a nice place to gather items, as you can use items (without breaking) to loot more items without the chance of getting attacked

This is where harvesting spots are located

After Harvesting a harvesting spot after 3 times it'll be depleted and you can not harvest on it again

Crafting

Crafting stations have 25% chance of appearing in a location, they are located here

Crafting Stations are used to make higher rank, level and rarity items.

If you use 3 items of same rarity you'll be granted an item of a higher rarity
If you use 2 items you'll have a high chance of getting a higher rarity item and a small chancel of same rarity
If you use 2 items of high rarity and one of lower its pretty muh 50/50
and if you use 2 items of low rarity with an item of higher you have a small chance of having the same rariry, and a huge of keeping the smaller

You can not undo crafting, so be careful, altough you could reload the game
Quests
Quests are a great way to gain XP and rare items.

They can be found in these buttons

The book icon will show you what quests you have right now. They can be mainline quests or side quests

You recieve your main quest when you start the game while you reciece side tasks by talking to npcs

Quests require you to go to a certain location so you need to look at the instructions at the quest log markeed in the book symbol and follow the tips to find the location

once you find the location the exclamation symbol will have a more satured background, click it and select an item to use to complete the task

Once you complete the task you'll gain xp, loot and you might get into a fight as well
Followers
Followers are a new mechanic. It's quite simple to Be honest so i wont make it long

Basically if you give a gift to a friendly NPC and the AI decides that they like it way too much they become your follower. Meaning they'll go adventure together with you and sometimes when youre being attacked they'll tank the damage for you, meaning that they will nullfy the damage you'd take and sometimes even do damage to foes
Saving and Saving Abusing
Save happens automatically when you arrive at a location, still you can save manually by pressing this button.

Now,now what's saving abusing you ask?

It's simple:

You can use the fact that the game saves everytime you go to a location to reroll item gathers, reroll items craft and hard escape battles that youre losing. You can do all of that by forcefully closing the game either with the X on the screen of with task manager and opening the game again
This Game Requires Patience and Grind
If you really wanna progress through the game you'll need a lot of time to wait for the AI to generate everything, specially battles can take a really long while, even hours in some cases, which you'll have to be strategic about it.

You'll also need to research for a lot of Items to make good equipment so you can defend against monster

A great Strategy is going to higher level locations harvesting and searching for items, using crafting stations to make a legendary item and then choose carefully which enemies to attack to grind xp, and after a long while of doing that you might wanna go through portals and do the main quests

Is there a place to find an updated guide-ish. I've been playing for a while now, I'm still very new and have so many questions, but I'm loving it :praisesun:

Does this all still apply to the latest version?

Thank you for the guide. There was a lot I missed just jumping into the game. Some additional info I figured out: Complimenting NPCs seems to have a very high chance of increasing their opinion of you. Also, asking any NPC "can you heal me?" Is pretty much guaranteed to restore some of your health and your abilities. This is a very powerful trick.

@5o5 No, you can raname/rewrite them however. So if there's a place or NPC you want to see, rewrite a boring one. There's no limit to this if you turn on Creative Mode in settings. If not, it's limited by the Essences (of Transforming, Rewinding, and Opportunity).

I just wanna clarify: at this point you can't manually add/delete anything like NPCs, locations etc.?

Thanks for this great guide! One correction is that the "go back" is actually "up one level", so it'll go to the parent place which is holding your current place (not always the previous place you were at). I might change the UI to make this more clear in the future
