About
Guide Last Updated: 2/1/2023

Book of Yog is primarily a hero collection and upgrade game. This guide will try to provide a clear understanding of the extensive upgrade systems and game modes available, as well as some general advice for new players. This guide does not include any information or recommendations about specific heroes, and there will not be any kind of tier list.

If there is other information you want to know or think should be added to the guide, please leave a comment and let me know. Also big shoutout to the community in the official Yog Discord server, where I learned so much about the game and much of this information comes from.
Server Info
Server Selection

There are multiple servers in different regions for this game, and the server select menu can be easy to miss. When first starting the game, click on the diamond-shaped Server button and verify you are in the desired region with the lowest ping.

It is possible to have accounts and characters on different servers, nothing will carry over between them. At this time it is not possible to transfer between servers.

Server Reset Time
Most major activities and caps reset at 12am UTC (midnight).
This is 8pm EST / 5pm PST.
Getting Started
The Basics
  • At first you will be unlocking a lot of new systems very quickly. Focus primarily on progressing through the map and explore the other systems when your progress is gated or you feel stuck.

  • Make sure to equip the skills for each character, and level them up as you get skill scrolls.

  • Use the active commander skills to get through difficult maps or tower levels

  • Make sure to check on the Bulletin Board for available daily and weekly tasks, as well as your Commander Tasks (bottom left popup)

  • Check for any limited-time Activities and try to complete as much as possible before the timer. You will only have a few days after you start to complete the introductory events (Special Bootcamp and Rally To Heroes)

  • Don't worry much about equipment yet, it will get replaced quickly

  • You will gain experience, cash, and level-up materials while offline, but the rate is much lower than when actively playing. However, there is also a cap to how much experience and loot you can get per day. See the section in this guide on Experience & Fatigue for more info

Navigating The UI
  • Many UI pages will have a (?} icon. Look for these and read them if you aren't sure how things work. The translation might not be perfect, but the information is there.

  • Use the "Auto" Button on UI right side to automatically progress through map stages

  • Turn off "Auto" to farm a specific map stage

  • During boss battles (such as in the Guild Ruins), the Auto button controls whether your units will cast their ultimate skills automatically or not.

  • You can quickly jump to almost any screen while battling in maps by hovering over the buttons on the bottom right

  • You can usually return to battle via the arrow on top right when in town (unless you started some other activity). This will save on load times.

  • Your Soul Level / Commander screen is on the top left, when in Town. You can also find Commander Tasks and Achievements there.
Building A Team
Classes

There are 4 different slots for active characters on your team at any time
Your commander will always be active and cannot be removed
There are 6 different hero classes

  • Guardian - Typical Tank, focused on survival
  • Striker- Frontline Melee, semi-tank, focused on utility
  • Hunter - Ranged DPS, focused on damage
  • Assassin - Melee DPS, focused on evasion and damage
  • Mystic- Mage, focused on control and damage
  • Support- Healer, focusing on heals and buffs

Game progression is primarily focused on clearing PVE maps, tower challenges, and big boss DPS races. At this time, PVP is a relatively minor part of the game, so optimize accordingly. Once you unlock Ancient Wood, you can more easily swap heroes in and out of your party for specific situations if needed.

While I am not going to rank specific characters in a tier list, or even break down all the existing heroes, if you are absolutely lost and can't decide where to start, use something like this to start off, and experiment with new heroes as you find them:
  • A Guardian or Striker, for your tank.
  • A Hunter or Assassin, for physical damage.
  • A Mystic, for magic damage.
  • A Support hero, for heals and buffs.

Changing Your Mind

It is relatively cheap and easy to respec and try out different characters and builds, so as you are starting out it is highly recommended to try out different units and team compositions to see what you prefer. You can reset any unit to Level 0, and refund all experience, skill books, talents, etc at the dock in town for some diamonds. However, be careful to de-equip any items/blackstones before reset, just to make sure nothing gets lost if you don't have enough backpack space.

Later on, you will gain the ability to raise additional units up to the level of your lowest out of the primary 4 in your team. See the section on Echo Ancient Wood for more information on that system.

Team Selection Notes
  • Do not invest time or upgrades into heroes below S-Tier
  • Try to pick one character of each class type to focus on. It's relatively easy to swap focus between characters of different classes, however if you have invested all of your Guardian fodder into Skeleton King and then decide to switch focus to Spartan, it will be more difficult.
  • Having a selection of units to choose from for different challenges is especially useful once you get access to the Ancient Wood, as you can easily keep other characters beyond your primary 4 leveled up.
  • There are two different versions of the Ice Mage (Usalotti). One is A-Tier, the other is SS-Tier. They are not interchangeable.

Loot, Experience & Fatigue
In order to become more powerful, you will primarily be blocked by:
  • Hero Level
  • Hero Ascension
  • Gear + Items

To optimize your progression through the game, you will need to understand the core systems

Treasure Chest

While farming the map there will is a chest at the center of the screen. Every time an item is dropped, it will consume 1 point of fatigue (FP) and get put into the cache. There is limited space to store items, and after it's full you will not get any more items until you collect what's there. You will also collect items passively, whether in game or logged out, but at a much slower rate.

Expedite
Clicking this button instantly grants you experience, items, and cash based on your offline rate. You can get it for free twice per day, after that the you must spend diamonds and the cost goes up each time.

Experience

Every day, your experience gain is capped to a certain amount
This cap is determined by the farthest map stage you have cleared
You can see your daily gain and current cap by opening up the treasure chest (shown above)

Promotion Gates
There are specific promotion gates (milestones) (every 25 levels)
In order to promote a hero past these gates, 3 other heroes need to have reached the previous milestone.
For instance, in order to promote a hero to 225, 3 other heroes need to be at least level 200.
Skills
As heroes level up, they can improve and unlock various skills
You can see which skills are currently equipped in the circle around their model in the Skill tab
Click a skill in the circle on the left to unequip it
Click a skill in the tree on the right to equip it

Choosing Skills
You can choose to equip or unequip skills for each hero
As each character unlocks more skills you will not be able to use all of their skills at once

Improving Skills
There are two buttons at the bottom of the Skill Tree:
  • Upgrade - Costs Skill Certificates, raises the selected skill by one rank. There are 5 ranks of each skill. After you raise a skill to the max, it will show 0 again, and you can choose to "Specialize" this skill, which will basically just raise all your attributes.

  • One Click Specialize - This will raise ALL the hero skills to match the lowest current skill rank, or if everything is already equal, it will raise all skills by 1 rank. For instance, if one skill is at Rank 4, and all others are at Rank 1, clicking One-Click-Specialize once will raise all other skills to Rank 2, then Rank 3, then Rank 4.

Skill Types

Ultimate
Each hero has an ultimate skill
It costs 1000 rage
Rage fills up passively over time, as well as due to some actions (currently unknown exactly what else triggers rage gain)

Combat
Combat skill is an active skill that goes off automatically (when equipped) every time the cooldown timer is up, or the criteria is met.

Passives
Passive skills improve other skills or provide bonuses to hero attributes
Talents
  • Using books you find in the world, you can raise character talents
  • In order to get talent points, add (up to 4) books into the slots and click the upgrade button
  • Each book has an experience amount, and a luck value
  • Luck gives you a chance to double the experience value when the book is consumed
  • For instance, if you put 3 books with 30% luck, plus 1 book with 10% luck, you will have 100% total luck chance, and the total talent experience gained will be double
  • First row of talents increases base stats (STR, INT, CON, WILL), and increasing base stats by 500 is quite powerful early on
  • Talents that allow you to increase attributes by a percentage value are available in the higher tiers and become more valuable later on
  • You do not need to spend points in previous rows to unlock higher tiers, only the specified amount of total talent points
  • You can respec your talents at any time for 30 diamonds
Commander
General Info
  • There is currently no way to improve the commander quality

Commander Skills
  • The commander has a number of different skills, most of which are active and require you to push a button for them to be used. Otherwise, the commander will just autoattack.
  • Some skills are not unlocked right away, but will unlock automatically as your overall level rises
  • There is only one automatic skill, Crescent Slash, listed under Personal Stunts
  • The commander's primary role in when played passively is tanking
  • The commander's primary role in active combat (when using his skills) is crowd control and support. When necessary, he can also contribute some decent damage, although you should not expect him to be your primary damage dealer.
  • Improving commander skills costs Soul Crystals, which are also used for the Hero Specialization system (after all skills have been maxxed) to raise Hero attributes.
  • Focus on upgrading the commander skills you use the most, but you won't be able to upgrade everything until fairly late in the game.
Summoning

The Altar

Beyond just adding new heroes to your team, additional heroes are required to improve the quality of your existing heroes (see Awakening section below). New heroes can be obtained in various ways, but the most basic way is at the Altar.

General
  • You can summon via scrolls or diamonds
  • If using diamonds, always summon in increments of 10
  • At the top of the summoning screen, you will see a meter for additional rewards
  • Each time you summon, you will gain progress towards these rewards
  • You can view the pull rate percentages for the altar at the top left of the summoning screen

Wishlist
  • You can put 4 S-Tier heroes on your wishlist and 1 S-Tier
  • You will have an increased chance to pull heroes on your wishlist
  • Wishlist resets every day
  • You CANNOT wishlist multiple heroes from the same class

Summoning Other Ways

  • Visit the market shops, you can buy various shards to summon heroes using the different currencies in game. These will grant fodder shards you use from your backpack.
Awakening
Overview

Awakening is the process of consuming one hero in order to make another hero more powerful and raise their maximum level. Awakening heroes raises many of the awakened hero's stats (Attack, Physical & Spell Power, Hit Points, Shield) as well as increasing their Max Level.

  • Rare+
  • Epic (Purple)
  • Epic+
  • Legendary (Gold)
  • Legendary+
  • Immortal (Red)
  • Immortal+
  • Mythic (Silver)

Notes
  • Awakening requirements are different for each tier (detailed above)
  • Units below S-Tier are not worth investing in, they are used primarily as "fodder" to awaken other heroes
  • Hold off on awakening units past legendary until you have a good understanding of all the heroes and what team you want to use
  • It costs more to fully awaken an SS-Tier unit than an S-Tier unit. Copies of SS-Tier units are harder to come by, they cannot be wishlisted, and the pull rate is very low. Unless you are spending real money, or prepared to wait longer and plan ahead, you may want to focus on upgrading a solid team of S-Tier units at first

One-Click-Awaken
  • It's always safe to combine rare into rare+, or epic into epic+
  • If you are very short on summons, you may want to awaken a specific unit to match what you already have
Fronts
Hero "fronts" are a system of bonuses that advance in strength for each class type.

You can improve front bonus 3 ways:
  • Adding heroes to "support" slots in the formation screen
  • Adding stars to individual heroes through alternate ascension system
  • Upgrading the Cathederal itself

Notes
  • Front line opens @ Chapter 10
  • Heroes in Support slots contribute to your front bonus (accessible in main "Formation" screen from Blackguard menu. Currently only 2 Support slots are available, they unlock after completing some chapters.
  • You can add "stars" to individual heroes, which will improve the Front level for their class. This is done in the Cathederal, through a similar system to awakening. You can access the Front upgrade system in Cathederal from a tab on the right side of the screen after it is unlocked.
  • Upgrading the Cathederal (requires Sacrament Salt, Soul Level, and Lura) improves front bonuses. The primary limiting resource is Sacrament Salt, which drops automatically from the On-Hook Chest (the main daily chest, governed by fatigue), and can also be bought for guild coins once you unlock the ability to harvest via Events. See Resource Collection section for details.
  • Some bonuses apply only to the class, other apply to the whole team. Read description carefully.
  • Combined front is only able to increase from heroes in your formation.

Cathederal Upgrades

Game Modes
Maps
  • The primary game mode
  • After completing all chapters on normal, you unlock Hard Mode
  • After completing Hard Mode, you unlock Hell (Blacktide) Mode

Missions
  • Available from the lowest tab on the left in the Bulletin Board
  • Each mission requires a specific class and rarity of hero to complete
  • You pick the characters to send off, and after some timed delay (15-30 min), you can collect the reward
  • As you complete missions, you will gain experience, and be granted harder missions with better rewards.

Tower
  • Tower is accessible from town, and is a series of increasingly difficult challenges.
  • The tower contains thousands of floors, and there is a server-wide leaderboard
  • Each level will reward you with some experience, alchemy dust and cash

Labyrinth
Endless Corridor is a set of 40 rooms that rewards you in coins that can be used to buy epic and rare quality heroes from the Black Market
  • Finishing all 40 rooms usually takes ~15 minutes
  • There is a boss every 10 rooms, as well as a Wheel of Fortune you can spin to get various rewards
  • It is worth completing this mode at least 3 times to get all the rewards from achievements
  • After that, you can choose to use some raid tickets (quite common) to "sweep" the rewards, without actually having to run through the corridor again, the only thing you will miss is the ability to gain rewards from the wheel of fortune you would have encountered along the way (4 attempts total)
  • Corridor rewards reset every 2 days (48 hours)
  • There are a fixed amount of rewards for the corridor during each reset, and you cannot run it again for more rewards.
  • Most floors are not particularly challenging, although some of the bosses do a lot of damage
  • If you die along the way, you can pay a small amount of diamonds to resurrect at your current floor, or exit and reenter and try again from the beginning.
  • You choose and upgrade various skills as you level up
  • It is generally recommended to pick skills that strengthen your magic attacks
  • Every time you level up, you will regain some lost HP

Events
In the region view of the map, there are two other modes available by clicking on icons on the bottom right. The first is "Events", where you will control your commander directly and kill some enemies. This mode is quite easy, it generally takes ~5 minutes to run around and kill all the stuff in the level. However, some of the rewards are quite good, so they are worth doing.

Resource Collection

Some Events will unlock resource collection nodes. To access them, go to "Develop's Notes" (dunno why it's named this). Here you can spend Guild Coins to harvest various resources from collection nodes. The collection nodes can be upgraded to yield more each time you collect. You can collect resources such as Gems, Sacrament Salt (for upgrading Fronts in Cathederal), and more. Be careful as these use Guild Coins, which you might want to use in the shop to buy heroes instead.

Arena
  • In the arena you will fight against other player's teams
  • You get 2 free fights per day, after that you will need to spend arena tickets
  • Make sure you set your lineup explicitly in the UI (or click "sync to defensive formation" in the formation screen), as this is what control which of your characters other players will fight when they challenge you.
  • Arena rewards you with Glory Coins, which can be spent in Black Market to buy heroes and crafting materials

Ruins (Guild Bosses)
  • Joining a guild comes with a few benefits:
  • You get Guild Coins for signing in each day
  • You can fight progressively harder boss-type enemies in the Ruins (right side tab of guild UI), which will grant a variety of nice rewards when you defeat them
  • Depending on how much damage you do to the boss, you will get a varying amount of rewards in addition to the basic rewards.
  • Your progress through the reward milestones is tracked at the top of the screen.
  • If you manage to do enough damage to kill them (empty the red health bar above their head) during the 1:30 time limit, you will get the maximum amount of rewards and the stage will end early. However, you will still need to defeat them multiple times to get all of the rewards, and progress to the next boss.

Old Gate
  • Unlocks after Chapter 7
  • Challenge big bosses for loot (items, crafting mats, skill certs, etc)
  • There are 3 different bosses, and the "active" one changes every day
  • Your "mobility" (heart icon) determines how many times you can challenge the boss
  • You get 2 free attempts per day, and you can buy 2 more each via diamonds
  • Completing the event in the top-20 fastest time on the server will be rewarded with diamonds in your mail
  • You can also eat "Ham" or other consumables from your bag to restore mobility and get extra chances
  • There is a small chance for these bosses to drop high quality items, even mythic quality
  • Class specific mythic rings can drop (rarely) from Old Days (Faceless: Frozen Heart, Queen: Arson Fairy, Bug: Spartan)
  • The level next to the pick screen determines the item level that will be dropped. For instance, if you are fighting Level 225 Faceless, any equipment that drops will be level 225.
  • Otherwise, the rewards are the same

Misty Mountains
  • Additional high-level challenge area, entrance is near Old Days
  • First level starts ~350, and challenge increases from there
  • Clear all enemies in the zone, then challenge the boss(es)
  • If you kill the boss within the time limit, you will unlock the next level
  • You can still kill the bosses after time limit and get loot
  • Misty levels drop loot and can be farmed similar to maps.
  • Entering is free, but challenging the boss costs 50 hearts.
  • If you fail the boss, hearts will be refunded. First clear will also return 50 hearts.
  • After you clear the first 3 levels, the Misty Store will open in Black Market.

Random Tips
    Farming
  • If aren't able to get any more loot, check if you have are out of fatigue or backpack space
  • You can see item types that drop and the recommended level for each stage in the map view
  • Spend your fatigue farming specific regions for items you need, or level-appropriate gear. It's not always best to be farming the farthest map you have pushed.
  • Go to world map and set your "Explore" to whatever region you want afk loot from.
  • Check your backback space before collecting On-Hook rewards, if it's full you may lose out on items

    Pushing
  • Push as far as you can in maps in order to increase exp cap for the day
  • If the engagement position is unfavorable, turn off Auto and clear the level until you are in a good position, then trigger the boss fight.
  • If you cannot react fast enough, change the game speed to normal (>> button below Auto)
  • If the game is lagging, exit fully and restart. It tends to have problems after running a long time.
  • If you can kill off some of the bosses from a map level but not all of them, consider using a Faith Cross to resurrect. Your entire team will come back with full life and the enemy state will be the same.
  • If you get stuck in maps, try pushing tower, improving your gear, skills and talents, or switching your team comp up.

    Systems
  • Each time you use one of the commander's active skills, it consumes a Magic Tome. If you run out, you won't be able to use his skills anymore. However, you can easily buy more Tomes from the Black Market shop in town for cheap.
  • Start working on understanding and improving hero talents
  • Start experimenting with the crafting system and learning blackstones
  • You will get plenty more of most crafting materials, but be careful with washing stones and sharpening stones, they are quite rare especially until you clear all the normal chapters.
  • Legendary items created from fragments will summon @ your Ancient Tree level (lowest level of primary 4 heroes)

    Shops
  • Consider buying some relics from the ordinary shop, they are rarely available otherwise
  • You can reset the items available in the ordinary shop from a button on the top right
  • Currency for resetting the shop is gained from doing daily quests
  • Explore and click around in the town buildings, you might find some hidden rewards

    Other
  • Make sure to double check hero skills after a promotion, reset, or removing from Ancient Wood
  • You can spend diamonds to upgrade the size of your backpack (1000 dia / 100 slots, bottom right of bag click the plus sign)
  • Hero Level vs Enemy Level has some impact on your ability to deal damage to the enemy, any heroes that are significantly lower level (20+) will struggle do deal damage. Level alone will not carry you against enemies however, unless you are also wearing gear of the matching level. Be sure to upgrade your gear regularly, especially on your primary heroes.
  • Save fatigue consumables till hardmode if possible, you can farm high tier crafting materials
  • Hold off on using favorability items until you unlock the Forge
Items
Understanding Items

Items have their own rarity progression
  • Normal (Gray, just improves all attributes)
  • Superior (Green, can have a specific attribute boost (affix)
  • Rare (Blue, usually has an affix) Once you reach midgame and beyond, everything Blue and below is basically junk although it does have some specific uses which will be discussed below.
  • Epic (Purple, item can have more effects, will sometimes have a blackstone slot)
  • Legendary (Orange, has guaranteed effects, often has a blackstone slot)
  • Immortal (Red, has a unique and powerful affect. Always has at least 1, if not 2 blackstone slots.
  • Mythic (Slightly more affix slots than Immortal, and significantly more powerful)

Item Terms

Above is an example Mythic item, with each component identified. Items can be improved in many different ways, and understanding the different components of an item is an important part of learning the crafting system

Here are the components of an item:
  • Equipment Rating - Measure of overall strength of the item
  • Innate - Raises all stats. Weapons also raise base Attack.
  • Affix - An effect on the item, such as increase STR or Attack Speed.
  • As items increase in rarity, they gain more slots for affixes
  • Each affix is written like [Lv1] +8 STR [1-20].
  • The numbers in brackets at the end [1-20] show the range that the affix can have, given the current item level. The actual affix value can be improved within the given range via the crafting system.
  • If the affix is greyed out, the bonus is active but it can still be improved through the crafting system. If the affix is orange colored, it is at the maximum value for the item.
  • The first section of Affixes are called Prefix, or Primary Affix
  • The second section of Affixes are called Suffix, or Secondary Affix
  • Exclusive Legendary Items (and above) gain a separate section of affects.
  • Skill At Immortal, items also gain a unique skill.
  • Mythic items have another affix slot, which can only be unlocked via Moonlight stones.
  • Blackstone Slots - The circular holes in an item are Blackstone slots. Blackstones are like gems, and can be slotted into higher tier equipment. Some items have slots that need to unlocked via a crafting material (drill chisel) Blackstones provide stat boosts and each type has their own set bonuses when wearing 2, 4, and 8 of the same type.
  • Equipment Level - This governs the minimum level character that can equip the item (Item Level 75 means only characters of level 75+ can equip, as well as the value range for the affixes.

Item Level & Caps

While it's possible to raise an item's level via Sharpening Stones, not all items can be raised to the same level.

Capped at ~350
  • All gear looted from maps
  • All gear gathered while offline
  • Legendary fragment gear (comes @ wood level)
  • Shop gear below ilvl 350 (currently bugged, max ranges from 336-385)
  • "Lucky" gear from map event (comes @ ilvl 250)
  • Old Days Mythics (comes @ min(boss level, 350))
  • Forged gear created <= ilvl 350

Capped at 400
  • Shop gear > ilvl 350
  • Mythical gear from Misty looted at ilvl 375
  • Dark Winter can be looted at 400
  • Forged gear created @ 400

Capped at 425
  • Thor set (created @ ilvl 50)
  • Bullet set (created @ ilvl 200)

Crafting
Workshop Guide

Crafting in this game gets quite involved, and I am not going to cover all aspects of the system in this guide (yet). However, I will try to cover the basics to give new players an introduction to the systems.

General Notes

* Each item has a pool of certain primary and secondary addixes it can roll, not every item can have every effect.
* You can preview which affixes are available by clicking on the icon to the right of the item in Workshop - Modify screen

Dismantle

Cost: None

Destroy items to clear out backpack space
Returns crafting mats for further upgrades
Will not destroy items that are equipped
It is generally safe to destroy all grey, green, and blue items, but until you really know what you are doing, you should NOT breakdown Epic (Purple) quality items or above.
Before you break everything down, check your character's equipment and see if there might be some lower quality item that could be upgraded into epic to fill or improve one of their slots. See the retrofit section for how to improve a lower tier item's rarity.
Dismantling higher quality items gives more/better crafting materials

Enhance

Cost: gold + alchemy dust

Raises the white numbers at the top (attributes, attack)
Does not raise the effects, or change the item level
Cost increases as you strengthen more and more
You can use enhancement to improve items, weapons, and heirlooms (toggle at top of screen)

Modify

Cost: various crafting materials

  • Use Ascent Stone and Reduction Stone to upgrade Normal/Superior/Rare items to Epic
  • Use Upgrade Stones to upgrade Epic->Legendary->Immortal->Mythic
  • Use Add Stones to add more affixes to the item (each rarity has max number of affixes)
  • Use Elimination Stone to remove affixes you don't like
  • Use Lock Stone to lock specific affixes that have rolled well and you want to keep
  • Use Mercurial Stone to raise the value RANGE (level) of the unlocked affixe (can lower also, good luck)
  • Use Fickle Stone to reroll the value of an unlocked affixe WITHIN the range
  • Use Whetstone - Increase item level by 5 (up to the item max)
  • Use Unlock Stone to unlock all the affixes and allow them to change

Fusion

Cost: Same item or Alchemy Dust

Increase item power (up to 5 stars) by combining with same item of same rarity, or using Alchemy Dust

Transfer

Transfer affixes or enhancement levels to a different item

The Forge

  • Forge unlocks after completing chapter 25 normal, however It is generally recommended to wait until 350+ to start crafting. You will want to max out Frozen Heart and Twins favor rating, and get as much luck as possible.
  • You start with a few recipes unlocked. Every 100 crafts, you can choose a new recipe out of possibilities.
  • Each craft costs 1 Gold Ingot and 1500 Lura
Gems
Overview

  • Gems can be inserted into higher-quality gear
  • While each stone adds to the unit's attributes, the primary benefit of blackstones is the unique set bonuses they provide.

How To Use

  • To equip a blackstone, you need to have an item with a gem slot
  • In the picture you can see a locked slot (left) and unlocked slots (right)
  • To unlock a blackstone slot in the equipment, buy a "Drill Chisel" from Ordinary Shop in Black Market (15k Lura / each), then go to the Gems tab in Blackguard equipment menu and click on the locked slot and accept the confirmation
  • Gems can be added and removed from gear at any time for free

Combining

  • At this time there are 13 different types of stones
  • Each stone has a specific level and a quality
  • All gems start off at Level 1, and can be combined with other stones of the same type and level to increase their level
  • Improving level and quality increases the attribute bonus but does not change the set bonus
  • Only stones of the same type can be combined, but you can combine stones of different rarity
  • When combining gems, each rarity included in the combine influences the chance for the new rarity
  • For instance, if you combine a Level 1 Green (superior), Level 1 Blue (rare), and Level 1 Epic (purple), it will always create a Level 2 stone. There will be a 33% chance of Green, 33% of Blue, and 33% chance of Purple quality.
  • Auto-combine will only combine stones of the same rarity, and you can preview the results before accepting
Other Systems
Echo Ancient Wood

  • When you put a hero in the wood, they will automatically be leveled up to the lowest level among your 4 main heroes. For instance, if you have heroes at 225, 200, 200, and 175, all heroes in Ancient Wood will be level 175.
  • You can access Ancient Wood at your house in town (from the book icon) after unlocking it from the campaign.
  • Heroes in Ancient Wood will have their skills raised to match the lowest upgrade among your "active" 4 main heroes
  • They will not gain any talent points.
  • A hero in Ancient Wood can exceed their normal rarity-based Max Level
  • You can remove heroes from ancient wood for 100 Soul Crystals, they will return to level 0
  • You can buy additional slots in Ancient Wood for ~3000 Soul Crystals
  • After 4 blackguards reach level 400, a new mode will unlock, and you level up the tree directly.
  • The max level post-400 is (number of epic heroes in tree x 5), and the absolute max is gated by the number of mythic and eternal heroes you have.

Favorability

  • At your house in town you can access favorability system from the heart icon (bottom left)
  • There you can give different heroes gifts to increase their favorability towards you.
  • Currently, a few heroes give a bonus to crafting at the forge. Other heroes do nothing.

Hierlooms

  • Heirlooms drop from Misty Mountains
  • Each heirloom has unique skills, and the skill effects can be boosted by consuming Mist Coins.
  • Boosting with Mist Coins will unlock new skill effects.
  • Each heirloom can only be obtained once, and each hero can only carry 1 heirloom.
  • Heirloom can be leveled up using Mist Crystals in the Workshop (Enhance Tab)

Leveling past 400+
  • After 4 of your heroes reach level 400, the leveling system changes significantly.
  • Instead of leveling heroes individually, you will spend Gold, Experience, and Magic Spar to level up your tree directly. This will increase the level of ALL heroes in the tree.
  • Your other heroes in tree (beyond first four) will have all their skills reset, and the skills need to be learned and raised individually.
  • For each rank, there are 4 steps (shown at the top) and a final "Level Up" step.
  • In order to level up past certain milestones, you will need a certain amount of Mythic heroes in your tree.

Still waiting for the day for server transfers to come. They now have SEA server. I'm stuck in 300ms Asia server. It sucks.

Many thanks for this guide - day 4 and core heroes immortal+ and pushing lvl 175; completely due to this guide. A few items out of date but otherwise brilliant. Great job @case!

Hey there! If there is some database to show the ranges of item levels dropped in certain maps so I know what to farm for my level, instead of an hour plus of guess work, would that be able to be displayed?
