At the time of this writing, to fix the startup error in Thymesia on Steam Deck, all you need to do is enable Proton Experimental in the compatibility settings.

Thymesia runs on Unreal Engine 4 and, like most games, unfortunately has a stuttering problem. While the game doesn’t maintain a fully stable 40FPS, I recommend these settings because at 30FPS the input lag here is surprisingly high and hinders gameplay.


I don’t recommend setting the quality of shadows and filters below medium, because then the visuals lose a lot of the atmosphere and the lighting becomes very basic. The game’s built-in FSR 1.0 don’t work properly on pre-relase version so at this moment the best way to get most stable performance is use in-game resolution scaler at 75%.

I was trying to play it but as @kibaka comments. The game froze when I tried to deflect. But I was trying to play without docking. I will try the setup to see if I have some improvement

It seems like the issue is exclusive to trying to run the game while the steam deck is docked, at least with my setup. It works as expected when playing normally.

There was no update of this game, so everything should work like on video. Make sure you have updated Steam Deck and try beta update of SteamOS if nothing helps. I have played with Proton Experimental every location in this game and stuttering is here's but not terrible. Just likie on video.

The game freezes horribly whenever I try to deflect or about to take damage from an enemy. Any suggestions? This is on the full release build.
