Step 1: Pick Darcy
This guide assumes that you have unlocked most of the "Friendships" available from Armstrong's bar.

Easily the strongest character of the four playable as of the 1.28 update, and an absolute grimey cheeselord. Most importantly, she has high move speed and innate damage on her dash, and some nice upgrades to pair alongside it.
Step 2: Pregame
A very important part of the entire roguelite experience, I will be outlining the things your loadout should have before you begin.

a) When getting your pre-game weapon upgrade, reset until you get "Gale". This is an incredible ability and will heighten your damage out put quite nicely. If you don't roll it, you can keep swapping characters at the bar to reset the options.

b) Take any passive ability on your weapon, it doesn't particularly matter. However, the best is the "Increase attack speed after dash", as it synergizes the best with this build.

c) Grab your Lightning Core, and choose "Great Thunderbolt". For some reason, the other ones are absolute trash, but this core is absolutely game breaking in terms of viability.

d) If you can, try to get one of the stun immunity items from the dealer on the lower floor. Shock immunity is especially good if you can get it for the later stages.

e) For your perks, make sure you have "Dash Cooldown Decrease" selected, and "Revive" is always nice, too. "Melee Damage Reduction" isn't necessary, but makes this much easier.

With all of these things, you should be able to waltz into the outdoors.
Step 3: Strategy and Gameplay
If you couldn't tell by now, we will be using and abusing the invincible dashes that the game oh-so-politely gives you. The idea is simple, yet extremely effective. Make sure that you take every lightning core you can, but most importantly, take the Dash Upgrade: Thunderbolt. When buying food, always look for damage increases, evasion, but above all else, dash count.

After defeating the first boss, you are given the option to upgrade your Elemental core. It's important that you upgrade this to full, otherwise your damage output will be a little lacking. Also, if you have leftover Roses, upgrade "Gale" in Armstrong's ship between levels. While you're in Armstrong's ship, you need to upgrade Dash Upgrade: Thunderbolt as much as you can.

As for gear, just grab any katanas or wires you see, and the rest doesn't really matter.

General gameplay consists of Attack twice -> Dash through -> Repeat when dealing with enemies, especially so with bosses.

The rest is up to you! Also, the last boss can be defeated by getting as close to him as possible. This build sets you up for success in the simplest way possible.

I used your guide like you said! I married Darcy, left her and the kids using Lightning Dash! Now, I'm in crippling debt because I owe child support. :(
