All About the Tank Run Tricks and Skips

This guide will tell you all about the Left 4 Dead 2 Tank Run Mutation Tricks and Skips

General

Tank Run is one of the only remaining active mutations left. This guide will tell you all about the Left 4 Dead 2 Tank Run Tricks and Skips.

The Dead Center Hotel Skip

As soon as you get out of the cut scene in Dead Center Chapter 1 (Hotel), you can make your way down the stairs, take a left and head for the balcony. Once you are there, head all the way to the end and follow this video to skip all the walking around the hotel.

Difficulty: Easy

The Passing Alley Skip

Upstairs in the house (right next to the construction site, chapter 2 of The Passing), you can skip the wooden walkway on the 3rd floor by going on the 2nd floor. Once you are there, use the railing to make a running start to jump the gap (use the video for visual help).

Difficulty: Easy

The Passing Underground Skip

In the sewer, you can see that without adrenaline the water is slow. This skip will help you with the pit that has ladders and water.

The Dark Carnival Highway Skip

Following this video, you will make your way around the Highway much faster and easier.

Difficulty: Easy

The Dark Carnival Hill Skip

A little bit past the hill drop, you can use this skip in case of a tank, less time on a speedrun, etc.

The Dark Carnival Safe Room Trick/Skip

Especially on Expert, you can find the Dark Carnival tunnel of love chapter either hard/frustrating at times. This trick/skip will help you get past the chapter without being so mad.

If you are playing with real people, make sure they stay where the bots are while the person who is up in the corner distracts the tanks. One person will start the round (making the tanks spawn) and all you have to do is wait for the 8 tanks. If you are solo, use a pipe (or risk jumping down and escaping if you don't have one), or have the people who are at the end of the room leave while the person in the corner keeps the tanks. Once the others have made it to the safe room, the person in the corner can also try to make it.

Trick/Skip Location: Dark Carnival Chapter 3 (Coaster)
Difficulty: Easy (Might take a few tries if you have never done it before, but overall easy).

The Dark Carnival Coaster Skips

Some people thought Valve patched the coaster climbing skip, but they didn't.

After getting up, you can either go around until you hit the invisible wall (and go idle to get past it, which doesn't always work), or you can b-hop your way past the wall (Please note that these skips work when the coaster is started and they also work when it hasn't been started).

After making it past the wall, there are no huge skips until after the drop (this next skip will get you past the tunnel without having to go through it).

After making it past that skip, you can either go up the ramp and just walk to the saferoom or you can go up the coaster a little bit and use the other skip after the tunnel.

Skip Location: Dark Carnival Chapter 3 (Coaster)
Difficulty: Medium-Hard (Some of these might take some time, but they are definitely possible).

The Swamp Fever Shanty Town Skip

Would you like to skip the wooden walkway along with the little supply house? This skip will show you all about how to skip those areas.

Skip Location: Swamp Fever Chapter 3 (Shanty Town)
Difficulty: Easy

The Hard Rain Water Skip

The flooded town on Hard Rain Chapter 4 (Return to Town) can be a pain with the water. This video will show you all about how to skip most of the water and make it across the chapter with ease.

Difficulty: Easy

The Cold Stream Alarm Skip

The explosive barrels can be annoying (along with tanks waiting for you on the other side). This skip will show you how to skip the alarm (barrels) and have an advantage against the possible tanks waiting for you.

Difficulty: Easy

The Cold Stream Memorial Bridge Ladder Skip

Getting down the stairs can be a challenge with tanks blocking your way sometimes. This skip will help you get past trying to get off the Memorial Bridge on Cold Stream Chapter 3 (Memorial Bridge).

Skip Location: Cold Stream Chapter 3 (Memorial Bridge)
Difficulty: Extreme (This skip is super hard as the ladder has a very small hitbox, this might take you a lot of tries to get down).

The No Mercy Apartments Skip

The Apartment on No Mercy has a lot of close corners and a bunch of places where a tank can pin you in. This skip will show you how to skip the entire apartment building so you don't have to deal with that.

Difficulty: Easy (Might take a few tries before you get it down).

The Death Toll Drains Skip

The alarm on the Death Toll drains can be a pain sometimes. This skip will show you how to get past the alarm part without even starting it (Please note that you cannot be on Expert to use this skip as you have to be hit across).

Skip Location: Death Toll Chapter 2 (Drains)
Difficulty: Easy

The Dead Air Crane Skip

While waiting for the dumpster to lower, sometimes it can be a pain to run around the tanks and wait. This skip will allow you to get past the dumpster (you sadly cannot do this on expert as you need to be hit).

Difficulty: Easy

The Dodging Trick

Dodging can be very essential in Tank Run from rocks, getting hit, etc.

With rocks, stand in the spot where the tank is going to throw and at the last second move in order to dodge the rock. Dodging a hit, try to move in one direction and then move the other way at the last second to trick the AI and get past.

Difficulty: Easy-Medium (dodging hits can take some time as you have to get comfortable and used to it).

The Climbing Trick

Tanks love to climb things, and they can climb just about everything. Use climbing to your advantage as they cannot throw a rock at you or run towards you (although, the tank does glitch and they can hit you while climbing if you get too close).

The Passing Underground Adrenaline Trick

Throughout The Passing underground sewer, it can be very challenging to make it without adrenaline. When dropping in the sewer area after starting the alarm, make sure you and 1 person both have adren (and are together). One of you can take adren, then the person who didn't take theirs can give the adren to the person who took theirs. This gives that person the advantage as they have adrenaline for both big parts (the drop area and the tunnel).

Trick Location: The Passing Chapter 2 (Underground)
Difficulty: Easy (as long as you have good rng for 2 adrenaline).

The Dark Carnival Barns Ladder Trick

On the Dark Carnival Barns Chapter, 1 person can use this ladder trick to keep some of the tanks with them. This trick also helps if everyone else goes down because the person on the ladder can wait for the doors to open (if someone started the alarm), and then they can run for it with the tanks behind, not a bunch of them ahead.

Difficulty: Easy

The Hard Rain Sugar Mill Ladder Trick

Using this ladder trick, you (or someone else) can distract the tanks as much as they can while everyone waits for the elevator to make it up (watch out for rocks as the person on the ladder is in a very open area).

The Parish Fence Trick

Making it to the button on The Parish Chapter 2 (Park), you can use this fence trick to stay safe while you wait for the doors to open.

The No Mercy Hospital Elevator Trick

On the No Mercy Hospital chapter, you can find it especially hard on Expert to make it past sometimes. Well, if you start the elevator and go Idle in front of the elevator (specifically in front of the line that splits down the middle), you can teleport either under the map or outside. Whoever uses the trick needs someone else to go down close to the elevator so they can teleport back up when the elevator arrives so they can escape easily (because you cannot use the elevator without everyone either there or the people that aren't there dead).

The Death Toll Drains Ladder Trick

If you can't use the Death Toll Drains Alarm Skip, you can use the ladder trick to keep the tanks distracted. If everyone else goes down and the alarm was started, wait till the bridge is lowered and the tanks are all under you. Then, climb up and get down, run, and make it to the safe room.

The Blood Harvest Farmhouse Trick

On the farmhouse, there isn't too much space without a tank trying to cut you off. This trick can help you get past the finale without too much of a hassle (just watch out for rocks).
