This guide contains major spoilers to the game! I've tried my best to mark the spoilers. Read at your own risk.

General Tips - 小提示

  • The key card is card be evolved after defeat an elite enemy. It can evolve at max four times. Though usually you will only find at most 2 elites on your path to the boss. The first evolve is usually the most important. Evolved key cards can single handily win battles if you have proper spells that synergy with it.
  • You can have last say (i.e. you play the last card after opponent passed) in the battle beside first say, there are things that allow you draw a card:
    • the treasure Conjurer's Candle (unlock at Lv. 82)
    • the spell Masterful Time Wrap (unlock at Lv. 84)
    • the potion Darkwater Puoch (unlock at Lv. 90)
  • You can change the difficulty of the game.
    • The game have 15 difficulty modifiers. Most of them have a slider to adjust. Unlike Slay the Spire that has fixed difficulty modifiers, you can choose different difficulty modifiers freely similar to the heat system in Hades. (So that they have less native effect to your deck).
    • You unlock the difficulty modifiers selection screen after you defeat each of the three bosses at least once.
    • The game also have five difficulty levels, the difficulty levels depends on how many modifiers you turned on. You can unlock the next difficulty level by defeating each of the three bosses at least once at the current highest difficulty level.
    • The bosses you already defeated at the current highest difficulty level will not show up again if you haven't unlock the next difficulty level. Otherwise, it's random which boss you will fight.
  • There are two curse cards in the game:
    • Wound: Remove self from your deck.
    • Curse: Lose 10 Energy and remove self from your deck.
    These cards clog your deck and make your draw worse. To permanently remove the curse from your deck, you can
    • play it in the battle
    • remove it at various places (e.g. the reward screen of normal battle, Place of Power)
    • transform it (to a normal card) at various places (e.g. random events, Place of Power)
  • A Place of Power allows you to recover 20 energy by default and also has an alternative special effect you can use. The symbol (and color) on the Place of Power indicates what special effect it has:
    Igni (Red): Remove a card from the deck
    Quen (Yellow): Transform a card
    Axii (Green): Upgrade a unit by 3
    Aard (Blue): Duplicate a card
    Yrden (Purple): For some reason, I haven't seen this symbol so far. Not sure if it's not in the game.
  • Some abilities allow you to copy a unit. Unlike in Gwent PVP, the copied unit will have the same power and status as the unit being copied. This apply to enemy abilities too (looking at you, spy).
  • Some abilities allow you to draw some number of cards then discard/put back the same number of cards. Be careful when your draw pile has less than the number of cards, you will force to discard/put back that many cards even you don't draw that many. E.g. using Time Warp spell when you only have 1 card in draw pile will force you to draw 1 card then discard 2, effectively -1 card.
  • The treasure Vial of Forbidden Knowledge (unlock at Lv. 56) allows you to gain energy in battle by permanently downgrade your unit. However, it only downgrade unit in your drawing pile instead of your whole deck. So if you don't have any unit in your drawing pile, it's free energy and you can click it multiple times in the same turn. If all charges are used, it will be permanently removed.

    Order: Gain 7 Energy and downgrade a random allied unit in your deck by 1.
    Charge: 13
    The number of Charges is not reset between battles.
  • The treasure Prism Pendant doesn't stack.
  • The upgrade from the treasure Master Blacksmith (unlock at Lv. 28) is permanent for the rest of the run.
  • Dettlaff: Higher Vampire is not affected by Doom status. He will come back even killed when doomed. (Not sure if this is a bug.)
  • You can disable the red launcher follow the steps below. (This applies to most CDPR games that use red launcher.)
    • Right click the game title in the Steam game list and choose the menu "Properties...".
    • In the LAUNCH OPTIONS field, paste
      --launcher-skip
      (double dash at the beginning).
    • Start the game :D
Good combos - 强力卡组
Any abilities that can make a copy of the key cards are very good. E.g.
  • Spell Masterful Portal can make a copy of a card in you draw pile when you miss your key card after all the draws.
  • Spell Mirror Image can make a copy of a card on the battle field.
  • Treasure Obsidian Mirror can make THREE copies of a card on the battle field. If the card you copied has passive abilities (e.g. evolved Melusine end of turn boost), it will trigger.

Bulwark Deck
  • Copies of Vysogota of Corvo (evolve at least once) + Temerian Drummer + Tridam Infantry

Savage Fury Deck
  • Copies of Melusine (evolve at least once)

  • Copies of Unseen Elder (evolve at least three times)

Hive Mind Deck
  • Dettlaff: Higher Vampire (evolve at least once) + consumers like Slyzard, Wererat

  • Shani + consumers + high deploy/one time ability units (e.g. tall removal, board wipe/buff)
  • Copies of Queen Meve + board swarm
  • Dettlaff: Higher Vampire (evolve at least once) + Ethereal + boost cards (e.g. treasure Cloak of Invisibility) sometimes work
Battles - 战斗
Noobie 小白
Win a battle. 赢得 1 场战斗。

Veteran 老兵

Play 7 cards in a single turn. 在单回合打出 7 张牌。

You want to have as many tutors and spawn cards as you can in your deck and play some units that have orders to play another card in the battle field before the turn you play 7 cards. Then on the turn, use all orders and chain tutors.
An easy way if you already unlocked the Masterful Visions (Lv. 100): Choose the Glacial Decanter potion. Use Masterful Visions first in a battle will play at least 6 cards, then just play any card in your hands.

Tutor cards or spawn cards:
  • Treasures: Travelling Priestess, Obsidian Mirror (to copy order units on board), Mysterious Puzzle Box, Runic Disc, Arcane Tome
  • Units: Shanni (Hive mind key card), Queen Adalia, Dadelion: Poet, Syanna, Zoltan: Scoundrel, Xarthisius
  • Potion: Glacial Decanter
  • Spells: Portal, Visions, Masterful Portal, Masterful Life Bloom, Masterful Visions
Wise Spender 持家有道
Win a battle without spending Energy. 不消耗魔能,赢得 1 场战斗。
Not Even Close! 你还差得远!
Win a battle with a 1-point difference. 以 1 点之差赢得 1 场战斗。

Too Easy! 小菜一碟!
Win a battle with a point difference of at least 100. 以至少 100 点之差赢得 1 场战斗。

Melusine or Dettlafff decks can easily net 100+ points after evolve at least once late game.
Those Who Ride With Giants 与巨人同行

Elite Battles - 精英战
The Hunter 猎人
Defeat the Mage Hunter. 击败法师猎人。

This fight have more RNG than normal as Maxii, the Mage Hunter can pull out random cards from her arsenal. Some cards are pretty deadly (e.g. the Poisoned Dagger that destroy a unit, the Mageslayer sword that damage all units by 1 when you play a special card). So try not to go too tall on a single unit and use your spell early as later she might pull out the sword. I also recommend to remove Johnny and Sarah as early as possible. Maxii plays a lot specials and these two are 2+ points engines.

All special cards from Maxii's arsenal:
  • Poisoned Dagger
    Destroy an enemy unit.
  • Mageslayer
    Whenever your opponent plays a special, damage all enemy units by 1.
    (This card is an artifact that stays on the board.)
  • Black Sun Pendant
    Remove 10% of your opponent's current Energy, then boost a random allied unit by the amount removed.
  • Wyvern Hide Armor
    Boost an allied unit by 5 and give it Defender.
  • Orion
    Damage a random enemy unit by 2. Repeat for each special you played this game.
  • Hunter's Whistle
    Spawn 3 Rabid Wargs on an allied row and boost them by 2.
The Fanatic 信徒
Defeat the High Prosecutor. 击败大检查官。

The High Prosecutor always spawn four Enforcers on the melee rows at the beginning of the battle.
  • Chapter Abjurer
    Whenever your opponent plays a unit, boost self by 1. / Whenever your opponent plays a non-unit card, boost self by 2.
    (Randomly choose one ability on spawn.)
  • Chapter Illuminator
    Whenever your opponent plays a Spell, they lose 4 Energy. / Whenever your opponent plays a Spell, boost self by 4.
    (Randomly choose one ability on spawn.)
  • Chapter Warden
    Whenever a unit appears on the enemy Melee/Ranged row, damage it by 2.
    (Randomly choose one ability on spawn. The boss will play Nivellen to move your units.)
  • Chapter Sentinel
    Shield.
    Deathwish: Your opponent draws a card.
    (Killing this mage gives you last say in this fight.)
You shouldn't kill the Enforcers too early as the High Prosecutor damages a random unit every turn and the damage go up for every missing Enforcers. E.g. if you kill all four Enforcers, he becomes 5 point engines.

Some cards The High Prosecutor usually plays worth mentioning:
  • Removal cards: Gaunter O'Dimm (doom), Maraal (poison), Vincent Van Moorlehem (status), Vilgefortz, Saesenthessis: Blaze
  • Clog card: Cynthia
  • Mill card: Tibor Eggebracht
  • Movement card: Nivellen
  • Battle Formation
    Double the base power of all Chapter Enforcers in play.
    Trigger the High Prosecutor's ability for each missing Chapter Enforcer.
  • The Tormentor (artifact)
    Order: Damage all enemy units with power different than base by 2.
    Cooldown: 6
    Reduce the Cooldown by 1 for every Chapter Enforcer in play.
    (It damages all over boosted and over damaged units on your side of the board.)
Dying Alone 独亡
Defeat the High Prosecutor after disposing of his Enforcers. 处理完大检查官的执法者后,击败他。

You need to kill all four Enforcers before the end of battle and win.
The Ruler 统治者
Defeat the Mountain King. 击败高山之王。
The elite Thrum, the Mountain King is all about handbuff. Try to kill engines and remove boost from enemy units.

Some cards worth mentioning:
  • Troll Shaman (3 pt 2 armor)
    Whenever a boosted ally is played, boost your lowest-power allied unit by its current amount of boost.
  • Ogre Warrior (3 pt 3 armor)
    Thrive 3.
    Deploy: Damage an enemy unit by 3.
    Whenever this unit's Thrive is triggered, damage a random enemy by 3.
  • Giant Kidnapper (5 pt)
    Deploy: Move a unit with power equal or less to the amount Giant Kidnapper is boosted to the opposite row.
    (The boss usually plays it near the end of battle and it can usually move up to 7 power units.)
  • Enraged Cyclops (5 pt)
    Deploy: Split damage equal to the number of boosted units on the battlefield randomly between enemy units.
  • Torque (5 pt)
    Whenever this unit is boosted in your hand, boost a random other unit in your hand by that amount.
  • Black Rayla (5 pt)
    Order: Damage an enemy unit by 1.
    Inspired: Damage it by 2 instead.
    Cooldown: 1
  • War Bear (4 pt 2 armor)
    At the end of your turn, boost self by 1.
    If you control another copy of this unit, also damage a random enemy unit by 1.
  • Hawker Smuggler (6 pt)
    At the end of your turn, boost a random unit in your hand by 1.
The Error 错误
Defeat the Failed Experiment. 击败失败的实验。

The elite Failed Experiment only shows up after your first successful run. It's another RNG fight as the elite has five different forms and will randomly switch to a different form (except the starting form) at the end of his turn. The five forms have different ability:
  • Failed Experiment: Alpha / Failed Experiment: Neutralized
    At the start of your turn, mutate.
    (Starting form or neutralized form by the serum.)
  • Failed Experiment: Blue
    Whenever you play a card, boost a random allied unit by a random amount.
    At the end of your turn, mutate.
  • Failed Experiment: Red
    Whenever you play a card, damage a random enemy unit by a random amount.
    At the end of your turn, mutate.
  • Failed Experiment: Green
    Whenever you play a card, Spawn a random unit on a random allied row.
    At the end of your turn, mutate.
  • Failed Experiment: Omega
    Whenever you play a card, destroy a random enemy unit, then Spawn a random unit on a random allied row and boost it by the power of destroyed unit.
    At the end of your turn, mutate.
    (This form is the most deadly one. Consider use the Neutralizing Serum to turn it off.)
The elite sometimes play 5/6 point removal cards like Parasite, Gigascorpion Decoction, Stunning Blow etc. So try to protect your engines. The elite will start to use tutor cards in the later turns, which allows him to play multiple cards per turn and trigger his ability multiple times. The blue and green forms are less dangerous comparing to the red and omega forms. You should try to swarm the board with tokens to minimize the chance that your tall units is destroyed.

Some cards worth mentioning:
  • Neutralizing Serum
    Order: Neutralize the Failed Experiment for one turn.
    (You have a total of two serums for the entire battle. You can use it to turn off the elite ability for one turn.)
  • Royal Decree
    Play a unit from your deck.
  • Reinforcements
    Spawn and play a copy of a bronze allied unit.
    (If there is a tall unit on the enemy side, this card can play for a lot points. E.g. copy a 12 point Caravan Vanguard will plays for 24 points).
  • Caravan Vanguard (3 pt)
    Deploy: Boost self by 3 and Spawn a copy of self on this row.
Herd Immunity 群体免疫
Defeat the Failed Experiment without using the Serum.

You cannot use the two Serums on the board during the fight. Note that they will then just take up your board space for the entire battle.
Boss Battles - Boss 战
The Dragon 巨龙
Defeat the White Dragon. 击败白龙。

This boss introduces the Freeze status. Freezing: Units with this status are destroyed when moved. Freeze itself does nothing and must be combined with movement abilities.
The boss's strategy is to freeze your units and then move it to destroy the units.
A counter strategy is to fully swarm your board so no units can be moved. Another counter strategy is to swarm with veil units. The movers are also easier to kill than the freezers.

Some cards worth noting:
  • Albastra, the White Dragon
    Order: Freeze an enemy unit. Cooldown: 1~2
    Whenever a Freezing unit is destroyed, Spawn a Frozen Adventurer on its row.
  • Left Wing (6 pt 6 armor)
    If a Freezing enemy unit is destroyed, Freeze its adjacent units and damage them by 2.
    Deathwish: Your opponent draws a card.
  • Right Wing (6 pt 6 armor)
    Freezing enemy units cannot be boosted.
    Deathwish: Your opponent draws a card.
  • Avalanche
    After 3 turns, at the beginning of your turn, move a random enemy unit to the other row, 4 times. Increase this number by 3 for each Wing you control.
    (This card will be played by the boss around turn 6~7.)
  • White Dragon Whelp (6 pt)
    Zeal. Order: Consume a Frozen Adventurer, then boost self by 6. Cooldown: 1
  • Wild Hunt Bruiser (6 pt)
    Every 3 turns, on turn end, move a random Freezing enemy unit to the other row.
  • Kerack City Guard (4 pt)
    Order: Move an enemy unit to the other row.
    At the end of your turn, if the Order is not used, boost self by 1.
Down to Earth 落入尘埃
Defeat the White Dragon after destroying her Wings. 在摧毁白龙的双翼后击败她。

You need to kill both wings before the end of battle and win.
The Fiend 恶魔
Defeat the Fiery Fiend. 击败炽魔。

This boss introduces the Burn status and Wildfire row effect. Burning: At the end of its owner's turn, damage the unit with this status by 1. When a Burning unit is destroyed, Burn its adjacent units. Wildfire: Whenever a unit on this row receives damage from any other source, damage that unit by 1.
The boss's strategy is to burn your units on the board, then do ping damages, steal your cards, and drain your energy.
A counter strategy is to have less units on your board and use artifact cards to separate units. Another counter strategy is to swarm with veil units.

Some cards worth noting:
  • Rha'iz, the Fiery Fiend
    Order: Spawn a Molten Image on a random/each allied row. Cooldown: 3
  • Molten Image (3 pt)
    Doomed. Zeal. Order: Banish the leftmost card in your opponent's hand.
    Deathwish: Spawn the Banished card back to your opponent's hand.
    (This card steal your leftmost card. You need to kill it to get the card back.)
  • Rience (6 pt)
    Deploy: Spawn Wildfire on an enemy row for 3 turns.
    Order: Damage an enemy unit on a row with Wildfire by 1.
    Deathblow: Your opponent loses 3 Energy.
    Cooldown: 1
  • Flamebound Thrall (3pt * 3)
    Deploy: Spawn 2 copies of self on this row.
    After 5 turns, split 3 damage between random enemy units.
    Increase damage by 1 for every Burning enemy unit.
    (This card will be played by the boss late battle. It's a machine gun unit if you doesn't deal them within 3 turns.)
  • Living Fire
    Remove 9 Energy from your opponent, then Spawn 3 Tormented Spirits on a random allied row.
  • Tormented Spirit (3pt)
    Doomed. Deathwish: Your opponent gains 3 Energy.
    (Note that even if you already at less than 9 energy, the Tormented Spirits will still spawn and you can kill it to gain energy.)
The Monster 野兽
Defeat the Swamp Monster. 击败古斯波斯。

This boss introduces the Infected status and Miasma row effect. Infected: Whenever an Infected unit receives this status again, damage it by half its current power, ignoring Armor. Miasma: At the start of the turn, Infect the highest-power unit on this row.
The boss's strategy is to swarm it's own board with tentacles, boost its own board, infect all your units and punish tall units heavily.
A counter strategy is to swarm your board with evenly power units. Another counter strategy is to swarm with veil units. If you can survive the pings from the tentacles, try to kill as little units as possible, because the boss can sometime over swarm it's own board, in which case it can only play specials and discard the rest cards.

Some cards worth noting:
  • Gorspeth, the Swamp Monster
    Order: Destroy an allied unit.
    Cooldown: 2~3
    Whenever a unit other than Tentacle is destroyed during your turn, Spawn a Tentacle on a random allied row and boost it by destroyed unit's base power.
  • Tentacle (1~? pt)
    Doomed.
    At the end of your turn, damage a random Infected enemy unit by 1.
    If there are no Infected enemy units, Infect a random enemy unit.
  • Devour
    Destroy an enemy unit with 3 or less power, or an Infected enemy unit with 6 or less power.
  • Acrid Spray
    Infect units randomly on an enemy row, 8 times.
  • Kikimore Queen (1 pt 7 armor)
    Thrive.
    Whenever this unit's Thrive is triggered, boost all allied units by 1.
  • Giant Leech (5 pt)
    At the end of your turn, damage a random enemy unit by 1, then boost self by 1.
    If this unit's power is at 8 or higher, destroy self.
    Deathwish: Boost all allied units by 2.
Random Events - 随机事件
I Understood That Reference! “我知道那是什么意思!”
Answer the Trickster's riddle correctly. 正确解答诡术师的谜题

The riddle is the italic flavor text at the bottom of a card description when you check a card details (right click the card on PC). The card of the correct answer will have the flavor text the Trickster asked.

Reading the Arcane 阅读奥秘
Discover the secret behind the Ancient Writings. 找到上古笔记背后的秘密。

In the Ancient Writings event, you need to choose the answers to three questions. The reward depends on the number of right answers you choose:
  • 3: upgrade all units in the deck by 1
  • 2: upgrade a unit in the deck by 5
  • 1: upgrade a unit in the deck by 2
  • 0: nothing

The correct answers to the three questions are random every time:
  • Power vs. Knowledge
  • Order vs. Chaos
  • Life vs. Death
The run I got it was Power + Chaos + Life. Choose all three answers correctly grants you the achievement. If you have the treasure Eye of Nehaleni (unlock at Lv. 56), it will show the correct answer. (You can't use it in the battles before the event since it will be removed from your deck.)
Swift Transaction 快速交割
Give the Dwarven Trader what he is looking for. 交给矮人商人他想要的东西。

The Dwarven Trader will ask if you have a certain treasure (random) and want to trade with you.
If you don't have the treasure he asked, you can still trade a random treasure you have for one of three treasures from the Dwarven Trader.
But if you do have the treasure he asked, he will give you two treasures in return and you will get the achievement after the trade.
What's in the Box? 盒中是什么?
Free the Thing From the Box. 解救盒中灵。

You need to first unlock the treasure card Mysterious Puzzle Box at level 52. Once you get the treasure card in your run, during the battle, you can use the order to open the box. It spawns and plays a random card. There is a chance that the card will be the Thing from the Box, an Immunity Shield Veil unit. If you get this unit, you get the the achievement.
Lady Luck 手气爆表
Win against the Gambler three times in a row.

The Gambler askes you to gamble your energy. The first time is -10 or +20, the second time is -20 or +40 and so on.
Note that in game description is misleading. You will always lose the energy first when you gamble. If you win, you then gain the said energy back, so the the actual energy change is either -10 or +10 for the first time and -20 or +20 for the second time etc.
If you win three gambles in a row, you get the achievement. Good luck!
Serendipity 猿粪
Find the source of magical energy in the Ruins on your first try.

In the Ruins, you can spend energy to try to find a treasure starting at 10% chance for 5 energy. Every time you fail, the chance increases by 10%. Finding a treasure on the first try grants you the achievement. If you have Magic Compass (unlock at level 99), you are have 50% chance to find a treasure on first try.

Buckle Up, Bonehead! 站起来,骨头人!
Resurrect the Ancient Warrior.

You need to unlock the Necromancer's Tome treasure first at Lv.46. Then once you get it in the run, in the Old Grave event, you can Perform Ritual to exchange the tome for the treasure Ancient Warrior.


The Chosen One 天选之人
Gain the favor of a God.

At the Stone Altar event, choose Offer (-5 energy) and there's a chance that you will gain the favor of the god. If you have the treasure Ring of Favor (unlock at Lv. 60), then you'll guarantee to be favored.

Once you're favored by the god, the choices at the altar will change in the future runs. The Offer option will disappear and the Pray option will give 30 energy from 20.
Burning The Golden Calf 烧掉金牛犊
Offer the Golden Nekker to a wishing well.

The Golden Nekker is a treasure card that unlocks at level 86. The wishing well is an event where you can remove a card from your deck. Offer the Golden Nekker to the wishing well unlocks the achievement.

Note that you can also retrieve the last card that you drop to the well. Which means you can carry over a card of your choice to a random future run.
Runs - 冒险

Lose your first run. 输掉第一次冒险。

Finish your first run. 完成第一次冒险。
Speedrunner 闪电
Complete a run in 30 minutes or less. 在 30 分钟内通关。

In Settings > Gameplay, change the "Display tooltips for cards played by opponent" option to Quickly or Disabled. Turn "Automatically end turn if no actions remain" on. Turn "Allow Early Pass" on.
Try to find a path with less battles.
Novice 新手
Finish a run on the Novice difficulty. 在“新手”难度完成一次冒险。
Apprentice 学徒
Finish a run on the Apprentice difficulty. 在“学徒”难度完成一次冒险。

You don't need to turn on all difficulty modifiers to reach the Grandmaster difficulty level. Only a handful of them would be enough.

Have 5 or more Treasures in your deck. 牌组中有超过 5 个财宝。

You will have two guaranteed treasure chests on any path. Take the Hellfire Essene potion (unlock at level 70) for another treasure. Then hope to get two more treasures from random events or elite battles.
This achievement may not unlock immediately after you have 5 treasures in your deck. In this case, simply continue the run until finish (no win required). It should unlock after that.

Defeat every enemy. 打败每一个敌人。

There are 31 different enemies in the game, including elites and bosses. You can check the progress in the in game Notice Board achievements tab.

Watch the credits till the end. 完整观看制作人员名单。

You don't need to beat the game to watch the credits. Simply go to in game Settings > Credits page to watch it. Warning: it's a VERY long credits and I haven't found a way to speed it up. However, it will still roll every the game is in the background.
This achievement may not unlock immediately after the credit rolled till the end. In this case, simply start a new run and finish the first battle. It should unlock after that.

Pls can someone upload a savegame with 100% (ingame-achievements) - 90 hours in, stupid swift transaction won't come....

To restart progress doesn't work becaus you need all other achievments again too (bechaus of the 100%-achievement-achievement).

I don't know how stupid you gotta be to create such bullshit achievements. God damn it.

By the way, there was a hiccup with the credits too. I watched it five times and started a new run, won the battle and nothing.
And only when in the middle of the run I saved and logged out. Then came back, watched the credits and then clicked "continue the journey" then the achievement counted.

Serendipity is an uterly pathetic achievement, RNG roll after RNG roll.
40 hours of gameplay trying to complete this stupid nonsense.

Congratulations to the dumb dev that had this dumb idea. Hope he don't touch any game achievements in his life.

For the "Chosen One achievement" : I got the Ring of Favor as treasure in my deck and got the event: Pray at the Altar. I chose pray (-5 energy), but nothing happened. So it is probably not guaranteed.

I finally got every achievement! On my birthday, no less! Epic gaming moment! It took me almost 128 hours. I feel like half of that was trying to get serendipity lmao. The RNG is a painful slog. Also, I can confirm that the ring of favor does NOT guarantee you'll get the chosen one achievement. I had it when I chose to offer, but nothing happened. I actually ended up getting it when I didn't have the ring, funny enough. So you might want to update the guide. But I'm glad to finally put this behind me. For anyone else still going for it, good luck! You can do it!
