English Patch (How to)
By GamerRoman
This is a guide made for the sake of making it a little more straight-forward to play Lunatic Dawn: Passage of the Book as a non-japanese speaker

(Optional) Link to the translated Manual:

Translated Manual[drive.google.com]
Applying the patch
Navigate to your game installation by right-clicking the game in your libaray and clicking [Properties] and then clicking the [Local Files] button and [Browse] after that

After that copy the contents of the zip file into the main folder.

Run the ld95_patcher.bat

Start LD95_e.exe (Not the original LD95.exe!).
You may need to use Microsft AppLocale (or something comparable).

That should be everything you need to do. Enjoy!
(Optional) Translating the manual
Rrename the current ld95.chm file into something else and place the downloaded ld95_e.chm into the folder and rename that into ld95.chm.

And that's it! Enjoy!

I had this issue as well, but it's very easy to fix. Right click the translated ld95.chm and go to properties. In the "General" tab, there's a button that says "unblock". This instantly fixed the issue and made it viewable in game for me. There's a chance you figured this out already, but it might help anyone else reading this as well. Either way I hope this is helpful to you and/or someone else who's having the same issue.

Even install the Eng patch, wording inside the frame is still Japanese....
When trying to launch with Locale Emulator, game crash.

I also can't view the English manual in-game, but I can open the .chm file with the calibre e-book viewer and read it that way.

I think it has something to do with not using AppLocale, but windows 10 doesn't have that anymore and the readme with the patch says that Applocale replacements are known to cause crashes so I haven't tried any with this game to see if it fixes the manual.

Great guide and painless patch, thank you. I can confirm it works on Linux using the method described below.

Hey whenever I patch the manual the text doesn't show up when accessed in game. Does anyone have a solution to this? THanks

As an addendum to my previous comment, if you have Linux, force Steam to use a compatibility tool and use Proton 6.3-8. Works perfectly with it. Also, after patching, delete the original executable file and rename the English executable to the name of the original executable and Steam will boot the game using it, thus allowing you to play the game in English and have Steam track it.

This works perfectly well in any Linux distro by using wineconsole cmd or wine cmd (the former brings up the Wine cmd, while the latter runs it in the terminal).
