RAGE Wasteland Legends Co-op: Avoiding Invisible Wall Glitch
By Zack
Ever tired of restarting the same mission because your non-host partner got stuck on annoying, yet frustrating invisible wall glitch that will make both of you go in a bit of RAGE? Then worry no more! This guide will help you avoiding those glitches from encountering specially for missions like Extermination, Grab and Go, and A New Toy.

SOLUTION AND METHODS
Here's what you need to do in avoiding all wall glitches in RAGE Wasteland Legends:

Player 2 (non-host, in short for P2) must go first through a certain spot where the glitch triggers instead of Player 1 (host, in short for P1). If the glitch won't trigger, P2 will successfully pass through and then P1 will follow. Make sure P2 won't go back to that glitchy trigger spot.

Simple as that! You can ask your partner if either of you wants to become the host before creating a server.

In case this solution doesn't work, don't just waste your time in doing something crazy, like sending off flying by creating a explosive knockback to jump towards the glitch using a Rocket Launcher (we've been there, done that). Instead, you can do with these five methods below for you and your partner to try. Before I start, there are things you should know in order to work. Method 2 to 5 are specially for long-distance players (i.e. you're from U.S. while your new/old steam friend or a random player is from Japan). You can go directly to Method 2 to proceed now, otherwise go to Method 1 if two of you are from same/nearby countries.

Method 1: Both players must have a FAST INTERNET SPEED and VERY CLOSE DISTANCE TO EACH OTHER'S TIMEZONES (from the same country or closer, not more than 3500 kilometers away from each other). This is a guaranteed glitchless run for you and your partner and acts as a last resort.

Method 2: Both players must move slowly (crouching while moving) when approaching the glitch spots. While moving, P2 must be on the front while P1 follows from behind, as long as both players are close to each other, but not too close. When getting close to the spot within few meters, P1 will hold the position while P2 will keep moving forward until it gets past to the spot. If successful, P1 can now move. If not, restart and try again.

Method 3: If both of you got stuck on method 2 for a couple of times, try this additional action: Follow Method 2 as usual, but when getting close to the spot within few meters, both players must stop and wait for at least 10-15 seconds. Then continue by letting P2 to move forward until it gets past to the spot. If successful, P1 can now move.

INFO: You'd been wonder why both of you should wait for 10-15 seconds before moving on Method 3? It's based from server ping which depends on severity of the lag from P2's POV. It takes more time to remove the glitch for P2 to refresh the area from a current map.

Method 4: If method 3 doesn't work, you can try something different by setting all game graphics to LOW. You heard it right, ALL OF THEM. Same goes to your partner's settings. Once done, you can follow Method 2, or Method 3 for better chances of passing through the glitch.

Method 5: If it still doesn't work, you'll let P1 to keep distance from P2 as FAAAAAR as possible. Then you can follow with Method 3, or Method 4 for much higher chance to pass through.

ADVICE FOR LONG-DISTANCE PLAYERS: When Method 2 to 5 won't help, the only way is to find a new player who's either willing to aid you or seeking help for achievements, hence proceed to Method 1. Your long distance partner must do the same since both of you won't be able to finish the mission(s). To find new players (and hopefully if there's one from close distance), Go to RAGE Discussion Tab on Community Hub and look for topics related to Legends of the Wasteland, or just simply 'co-op legends' or 'co-op'. You have to be patient to wait for their response. If one or more players replies and willing to join/assist, ask them about the timezone/country (please don't say your exact address, country is enough). If both you and new friend are the same or on nearby countries, you can now ask each other if both of you are ready, or discuss about free time to plan ahead for later schedule.

For few months after I discovered the fix and created solution and method 2 as my own, I wasn't aware that those two were existed on wiki guide which is found here: https://rage.fandom.com/wiki/Grab_and_Go
I believe some players discovered those by themselves. However, they only mentioned on Grab and Go mission, which is unsure if they're aware on other missions like Extermination and A New Toy. Having said that, I have to give them a credit. As for Method 1, 3 and 4, they're the only ones that I made since the start of aiding players for co-op.
GLITCHED SPOTS
Will hide some spoilers in case you're new to the missions while attempting to read this in advance before reaching the glitched spots.
Here's a list of glitch spots in areas that will trigger invisible wall (sorry, images are removed due to inactivity):

Extermination (Mission 7)
  • Shipwreck Cove Arena (spikes)
Shipwreck Cove Cell Door with blocked water wave thingy (uncommon glitch)
J.K. Stiles will remove the water wave thingy and open the door once you clear all muties.
  • Bonus Arena
Bonus Arena Cell Door (rare glitch)
After killing the Kraken, J.K. Stiles will say "there you go", in which the door opens.
  • Monkey Business Arena
Monkey Business Arena's Center Platform (rare glitch)
Will lower the platform after killing Slimy Mutants.
  • Room with ammo stash and items
Half-circular Door to Chamber of Laughs (uncommon glitch)
Nothing new here, except the door will close when entering the Chamber of Laughs.

Grab and Go (Mission 8)
  • Passage area with Bomb Caches
First Lift's Guard Rail (common glitch)
The guard rail will lowered down once the lift successfully landed.
NOTE: Has a chance for P2 to bypass the glitch by jumping down, reuniting with P1 below with no fall damage.
  • Exit, Past Bomb Caches
Second/Exit Lift's Guard Rail (common glitch)
The guard rail will lowered down once the lift successfully landed while Gearhead Minigun is onboard.
NOTE: P2's POV can see the lift looping crazily from the distance or when approached, as well as uneven leveling of the lift itself, indicates that the glitch is still in effect. When completely stopped and the lift is on equal level or perfectly in place, P2 can safely pass through the lowered lift's guard rail, followed by P1.
For unknown reason, while P2 experienced lags, he/she can be able to get past through the glitch on one or both lifts when P1 goes first on rush mode in which ignored the solution and methods. Occurrence is quite rare, but it's likely due to either player's internet speed.

A New Toy (Mission 9)
  • Upper Level (probably 3rd floor)
Upper Level Fire Gate (rare glitch)
Requires to turn off manually before encountering a Gearhead Armored Shotgun.
  • Bank Area
Bank Area's Fire Gate (uncommon glitch)
Will disable itself once Gearhead Minigun is neutralized.
  • Offices Room with ammo stash and some items
Office Room Fire Gate (uncommon glitch)
Will disable itself when Gearhead Minigun and Jet are both neutralized.

There are some invisible wall glitch spots that I haven't discovered yet. You know what to do when you encounter them.
ANYTHING ABOUT RAGE CO-OP'S INVISIBLE WALL GLITCH
This section is not too important to read, but if you want for information about wall glitch, feel free to do so.

Occurrence
Wall glitch triggers unexpectedly on objects, including doors. When P1 moves ahead first and stepped on a trigger spot instead of P2, glitch will occur. That leaves P2 stuck, making the current mission progression impossible to finish for both players.

Causes (based on my experience on PC version)
- Both players have different countries/timezones at least 3 hours away from each other
- Poor internet speed on either players
- Maxed Graphical settings
On 'GLITCH SPOTS' section where spots are tagged with glitch chance, they're set as default when both players are from different, yet long distance countries. However, if internet speed is very poor or ping is high, chances will become higher.

Mission Loading Screen Acts as a Early Warning System on Wall Glitch
Taking too much time for more than 30 seconds during mission loading screen before it starts in-game means both of you will likely to encounter those glitches on Missions 7, 8 and 9, in addition to lag experience in-game on P2's POV. Acts as an early warning system.
The duration may depend on how much slow the internet speed, which I mentioned earlier, has the effect on either of you. For example, much more higher than 60 seconds may severely increases the glitch chance, especially when one of the two players have a very high ping. But, it is still playable, which me and other players did when I aid them individually. If ping is extremely too high, you may get disconnected from host server before the game starts. So, it is very clear that if both of you have the same high speed with nearby countries close to each other. it takes 17 seconds or less to wait for mission loading screen, resulting to 100% glitchless play. I already confirmed this since I played with a random player (different country, same continent). I also confirmed this with other players from a different continent and similar countries. Will explain this one later on 'Method 1 Playtests'.

Main Source of Invisible Wall Glitch
Based on what I found on Discussions tab on RAGE Community Hub, it came to my surprise. Wall glitches are originated from consoles, including PS3 and Xbox 360, not fully finished, which explains the game is not fully completed and fixed, hence the disappointing campaign story ending and other issues. While unfinished and not fixed, it was converted poorly for PC. Even after patch updates there's no changes.

Method 1 Playtests (this is how we successfully achieved)
I'd consider my gameplays while assisting players for steam achievements as part of the playtest. Two playtests are separated from different date.
  • Test 1: Assisting a random player from the same continent I'm on with a distance of 2,000km away from each other
We tell our nationality, but we didn't tell the exact city we live in order to keep things private. I haven't warned him about wall glitches, when he suddenly starts the game sprinting up to finish everything. After finished playing Wasteland Legends, it was unexpectedly a success. P1 really did rushing the game entirely, leading forward while I as P2 was on his back. Gameplay runs smooth, very smooth. No problems whatsoever. Takes less than an hour to finish all missions. You hear it right, ALL MISSIONS. Feels like we're speedrunning the game XD

  • Test 2: Assisting a random player from a very far continent with another random player (also from the same continent yet different country)
Before Test 2 takes place, I tried to help a player who is way farther distance than me. We failed to bypass the glitch with whatever methods we used for so many attempts (I only have 4 methods that I can think of that time). After that, I leave no choice but decided to look for another player to take my place. It was perfect when we found one with the same continent as my partner. However, this new player are from a different country. Despite of that, I asked them to play with each other since both of them are in need of achievements. That's what we decided to test this method after I told them about other methods that had failed. The two confirmed it a success after playing Grab and Go with no possible glitches occurred.

Since Test 1 was a major success, I conclude it right away that this method actually works. Now this is the real challenge for achievement hunters especially for those who have issues with internet speed. Since there are rarely fresh faces to show up on RAGE Community Hub's Discussions tab, it is hard to find players who lives on the same/nearby country.

Minor Wall Glitches that are harmless
While the Loading Screen Early Warning System may help players as heads-up on incoming glitches on affected missions, this single glitch from Rusty's Resupply is nothing major. When destroying a door by a explosion and P1 attempts to pass it, it'll trigger a wall glitch, making P2 unable to move past the door whether the door itself is still there or not via POV. It's not a big deal, but it also acts as an early warning system, in preparation for the mentioned missions that will likely occur glitches.

Bot as a partner instead of real player?
Kinda off-topic, but somewhat a solution in avoiding the glitches that may seem impossible. One of the players (not on my friend list) asked me that before while in the middle of assisting other players. It's impossible, unless someone's gonna make a mod for that even the game's published on 2011. But I highly doubt that this will unlock achievements having bots on co-op.

Glitches on Wasteland missions when playing solo?
Some players asked me about it. And I'll tell you right now: Nope. This is too obvious because you're the game host, therefore the entire missions are glitchless, even though you have a low internet speed. They did unlock some achievements though, but I don't think it's highly recommended to do that alone.

So yeah, that's what I observe when I started to help other players. Been done this since January 30, 2022 and I aid 50+ players for 7 months straight. Not gonna brag though, but it feels good to help players for achievements. I won't be able to assist new players in the future due to busy IRL stuff, hence I created this guide. Maybe I'll be back when everything's not too busy.
CONGRATULATIONS!
If both of you managed to escape from those glitches, congratulations! You and your partner won't end up from turning yourselves to RAGE MODE thanks to the solution and methods. If you and your long distance partner are active on Wasteland Legends, playing just for fun, you have to do the solution and/or methods over and over again. Well, at least, it's better than getting stuck, right?

J.K. Stiles, Sheriff Black and Jack Portman will be very happy for your hard work in completing the missions.

CLOSING NOTES
Credits to MadMan and Lord_zorax for testing Method 1 to finally work.
Also, credits to Fandom, and other players who discovers fixes to bypass glitches in Grab and Go mission.

Due to busy IRL stuff, I'll have to remove location images from 'GLITCH SPOTS' section and rework this entire guide. It is exactly a year since I posted on this guide, and won't be able to update this anymore.

Feel free to hit a thumbs up button and leave a comment below if this guide helps you a lot. You can also comment if you spot an undiscovered in order to help future players.

Have a great day or night everyone, wherever you are! :D
