How to fix most crash/lag problem in sonic origins

This guide will help you fix most of the problems related to lag and crashes, most of these issues are caused by the game using by default the integrated graphics card instead of the dedicated one, this guide will give you the necessary steps to switch from the integrated one to the dedicated one.

NOTICE: THIS MOSTLY APPLIES TO LAPTOP USERS

EDIT:A patch has been released that fixes this issue, if you think this is still happening to you, trying the guide is always an option

Checking what graphics card you have (skip to the next section if you already know)

If you don't know which cards you have do the following:

1.Click the windows start button
2.Type in "device manager" and open it
3.Navigate to the display adapter section

4.Browse for sonic origins at C:\Program Files\(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SonicOrigins\build\main\projects\exec and add it

1.Open nvidia control panel (an easy way is to right click the desktop and select it)

How to increase performance if you only have integrated graphics (works with nvidia and amd too)

1.Open Sonic Origins

2.Go to the museum island and select options










3.Go to graphics and lower the resolution










4.(NOT 100% GUARANTEE WORKING) According to some users using fullscreen instead of borderless window also seems to help

Things to try if the game doesn't open

If your game instead of lagging or crashing simply does not open when clicking on "play" there are a few things that you can try in order to fix it:

1.Update your graphics card driver

2.Reinstall the game

3.Close every program on your computer except for steam and try to open it

4.Restart your computer

***Fixed game lag***
I just downloaded Sonic Origins Plus on 5/11/25 and the game play has extreme lag. I researched and tried all the options I could find. My fix was to Google "Intel wireless bluetooth" which lead to the 23.130.0 driver version. I now have smooth gameplay without changing resolution, vsync or any other options! Hope this helps!

Replying to trixie's mom;
Try opening Steam's settings, going to interface and seeing Steam Beta Participation.
If it's set to No beta chosen, try changing it to Steam Beta Update.
After that, close the settings and Steam will try to reopen.
When Steam reopens, try launching Sonic Origins again.
If this doesn't help then i'm sorry but I don't know another way.

tried all this and the game still refuses to run. and i'm doing it on an AMD machine.

oddly enough, it runs on my laptop. which also uses AMD. so i'm partially thinking its a gpu problem.

hi all. not the gamer but his mom. I bought this for him but cant get it to work. i click on play, it tries to load and then switches to play again. I've tried all these settings but idk. the tech scene has grown beyond my knowledge.... he has a lenovo laptop. with the intel (r) uhd graphics 600. we're using a regular memory card for laptop storage. his other games on here work.

i only have an integrated graphics card, and it will open sometimes, but crash most of the time during the loading screen after the auto save thing, dont know what to do about this, someone help?

Is it not just Denuvo making it lag every 10 seconds or so?

Even with the Plus upgrade the game still lags and crashes. I use integrated graphics and this is the only Sonic game to have this problem.
