How To Play Uno - The Full Guide [WIP]
De către CosmicSoda și colaboratorii 1
I'm trying to make a genuine guide for new players to learn how to play UNO.
This guide will go over the different game mechanics and the different modes in the digital version.

The DLC and what abilities allow you to do in those can be difficult to understand so that is likely going to be the main focus of the guide.

Introduction
Hi,
This is a guide about how to play UNO, the simple card game you find wedged somewhere in a cupboard that you play once every few years.

I plan to go over every DLC and Game Mode possible although I don't own all the DLC yet and this guide is unfinished but I'm working on it

Any help provided would be amazing and I'd appreciate any comments, likes and favourites because they tell me I should keep working on this.

As someone who is Colourblind I think it is important that I put this here as I didn't realise at first and kept trying to place cards that I can't place (god help me) but there is a Colourblind mode in the game settings!

Unfinished List
This guide is still a work in progress!
Any likes, comments and favourites would be amazing :)

These are the sections which are currently unfinished:
UNO Flip Strategies
Strategies

These are the sections we plan on starting soon:
UNO Fenyx's Quest
Fenyx's Quest Strategies

These are unowned but will be added eventually:
UNO The Call of Yara
UNO Valhalla
Standard UNO
So first I'm going to go over the basic rules of UNO, and then afterwards I'll be going over the different modifiers.
You can follow the in-game tutorial for this, it's pretty helpful but here's how you play.

The Standard UNO Game
You start with a hand of 7 cards.
there are 4 different coloured cards:
Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.

Each of these cards will either have a number from 0 to 9, a block symbol, or they will have a +2.
When playing UNO you place a card of either the same colour or the same number.
The +2 card will give the next player 2 cards from the deck

The stop symbol/Block means that the next player misses their turn.

So if there is a Blue with a 4 on it, you can either place a Blue card, or a card with the number 2 on it.

There are also two types of Black Cards. These can be placed on your turn no matter what colour or number is placed.
One of these has a +4, and the other has the symbol in the middle of the card in place of a number.

The +4 gives 4 cards to the next player from the deck, and allows you to change the colour being played.
The black card without the +4 allows you to change the colour being played:

When you have 2 cards in your hand, click the UNO button before it.

Otherwise, the other players can click the ! button and you will have to pick up cards sacrificing your win.
If another player forgets to say UNO, you can click the ! button to give them 2 cards.

One thing to note, you can challenge a +4 card. [As long as No Bluffing isn't enabled]
If the player could not play any other card, you get +6 cards, if they could play another other card then they gain +4 cards on themselves
Basically: DO NOT PLAY A +4 UNLESS IT IS YOUR ONLY PLAYABLE CARD

Modifiers

Stacking: This allows you to absolutely cripple one of the players, by stacking multiple +2's on top of each other. This can cause someone to be given an insane amount of cards just because they didn't have a +2 in their hand.

Photo of what happens when ur mates stack 6 +2 cards:

7-0: Playing a 0 card, means all hands will be swapped in the direction of play.
Playing a 7 card means you can swap hands with a player of your choosing.

Jump In: You can play a card at any point if the one currently placed it is identical to one in your hand

Force Play: If you draw a playable card, you automatically put it down.

No Bluffing: Wild Draw cards can be played with no option to challenge it.

Draw-to-Match: When you don't have a playable card, you must keep picking up until you can play one. - this one is a bit annoying at times.
Winter Theme
Read above section - it is the same just with a fancy christmas theme.
Strategies [WIP]
Here is a list of strategies - these are mainly the same apart from UNO Flip and Fenyx Quest [DustyTheOrange will write the Uno Flip strats]

Strategy 1: Wild Card
Save your +2 cards, +4 cards and Wild Cards.
UNO Flip [DustyTheOrange]
Section made by: DustyTheOrange
This game mode has 2 sides (literally) for now lets call them normal and flip side. In order to swap sides a flip card must be played. Everyone else in the game can see the opposite side of your cards so they will know what you have when a flip occurs.

Note: if you somehow don't know if a flip has occured look at the colours of the cards as they are much darker than the normal cards

Unlike normal UNO most special cards are altered.

special normal cards:
The special cards on the normal side have their power halved making them ineffective at stopping your opponents
Draw one: the +2s are instead only +1 meaning if your playing with draw till you play game modifier you are normally helping your opponent rather than sabotaging

Wild draw two: your +4s are also nerfed to +2 but can still choose any colour

flip side special cards:
unlike normal side, flip side has overpowered sabotages that can remove any chances someone has at winning
Draw five: the +2s are now +5 making them incredibly deadly especially with stacking

Wild draw colour: The flip sides +4 doesn't actually make the opponent pick up a set number but rather force them to keep picking up till they receive the colour you selected

Skip everyone: will skip everyone's turn essentially letting you play 2 cards in a row

Additionally for both the flip and normal sides there is also the flip card to change between the two sides
UNO Flip Strategies - [WIP - DustyTheOrange]
Section made by: DustyTheOrange
Remember that you can see the oponents back of their hands. If your memory is good you can force them to play a good card before they can use its other side. This also works the other way around with remembering whats on the back of your cards to avoid playing certain cards

By holding on to as many block everyone cards as you can you can essentially get rid of 8 or more cards in a single turn. This can be used to effectively change colours without using wilds.
A drawback for this strat is if it flips back to normal it can be difficult to protect those cards.
UNO Rabbids
The Rabbids game mode adds 4 themed cards to the madness.
Unrelated Note: I really like this gamemode, although I may be biased as Rabbids Go Home is one of my favourite Wii games.

Comin' Through: Five cards are randomly distributed to your OPPONENTS (everyone else), and then five more cards are randomly distributed to EVERYONE (opponents + the person who drew the card)

Explosive Results: The next player who has to draw a card, has to draw 4 total cards.

Hurry Up!: For the next few turns, all players must finish their turn in 3 seconds or they draw a card and have their turn skipped

Wild Blue Yonder: Stops a +2 or +4 from taking effect. If used without a +2 or +4 used, acts as a wild card.

UNO Rayman
This gives a pretty sweet looking deck, but also 4 special cards which can add some spice to the game.
I'll be going over each card and what they do :)

A Little Help Card: Clones the previously played card on top of the discard pile

Dragon Card: When played, the dragon eats every players cards and shuffles them. They are then randomly distributed

Escape Card: You can see your opponents cards

Punching Things Card: If someone plays a +2 or +4, you can use the card to deflect it and give the person who placed the +2 or +4 double the cards.
E.g. if someone placed a +2 and you used this card, they would then get +4'd
if someone placed a +4 and you used this card, they would then get +8'd
If you play the card normally with no +2 or +4, it acts as a wild card and you can choose the colour being played.

UNO Just Dance 2017
This adds 4 Theme Cards

Cross-Fade: Every player has to swap hands with the person in-front of them

Get Down: Everyone (except the player with the least cards) has cards randomly discarded until everyone has the same number of cards

Hot Number: This means the only cards that can be played are Number cards and Theme cards.
If a +2, +4, or Wild card is played they have to draw a card directly afterwards.

Just Dance Machine: Every player is given an Experiment Card. When a Experiment Card is played, it will become an Action Card (+2 or +4).
UNO Fenyx's Quest [WIP - CosmicSoda]
This DLC adds 4 player cards, and 2 Theme cards.
This one has its own strategy section [Currently Not Started] because of its complexity - usual UNO strats won't work here.

Player Cards:
Aphrodite
Ares
Athena
Hephaistos

Theme Cards:
Typhon's Trick

Fenyx's Power
Fenyx's Quest Strategies - [Not Started]
50 Years UNO
This adds the 50/50 card, where a coinflip is done as to who has to draw 4 cards.
It also adds a black version of the UNO cards
UNO The Call of Yara [Unowned]
I do not own this DLC - I will work on this once I own it
UNO Valhalla [Unowned]
I do not own this DLC - I will work on this once I own it

When challenging the +4, I can't understand it, could you explain it to me?
