Welcome to the Abyss
The map contains:
-Working submarine
-Plenty of places and things to explore
-Horrifying ambiance
-Five Four sea bases
-Oxygen system in one of the bases
-Charles the cannibal
-Music room behind spawn
-Moonpool for building your own submarine
-Plenty more hidden in the darkness

Company Greeting
Hello diver! Welcome to MIDAS (Marine Imaging and Deep Aquatic Sciences) here we specialize in underwater sciences and photography. But its clear you're interested in our ultra-deep research team! Such a job need engineers, chefs, marine biologists, and therapists. Your job is to do science and keep the base running until the next rotation of members come down. You will be assigned to your post 4 miles deep for 10-15 days. We have no clue what you will find down there, but here at MIDAS, you are capable of overcoming anything. If there is a emergency, take the orange path to base LANTERN, there you will find plenty of food and air to keep you until our research vessel (BETSY) arrives to aid you. If base LANTERN is somehow destroyed by The Border Feaster structure damage, we highly advise against returning to base VIPER since the Charles incident. We recommend going to base GRALLATOR instead. If you need some supplies, visit base SEDNA for deliveries. REMINDER keep a eye on base ANGLER's oxygen system, we have yet to replace it since its installation in the 1970s. And if a internal emergency occurs there, close the security doors. That should be all the information you need. Welcome to MIDAS we look forward to seeing you again on the surface.

Instructions
-To turn on the submarine, turn the valve in front of the engine and press the green button once its warmed up.
-Please wait for the submarine to reach cruising depth until you declare the screen as broken.
-The oxygen system is located in the engineering room in base ANGLER, Just interact with the keyboard to fix it.
-The comms center can "call" a base, however due to source engine limitations, its more of a detail.
-Keep a eye on the chair facing base LANTERN, it gives me a bad feeling.

The map is heavily inspired by Iron Lung, Lost in Vivo, and SOMA. And respectively uses sound and music files from said games.

im gonna add zeta npcs and use funny addons like crack life scientists and make this map not scary

it does have scripted things, like an entire secret set
you can also fix the air generator by stealing a wrench from another base

Ok so this map looks cool but does it have anything scripted in it? or is it just a normal sandbox map with things to explore?

Me too, but i've been reading discussion and it was said it's useless, but i still want to thaw them anyway cuz why not, i'm currently trying to figure out the command, well i will be when i get back into gmod, cuz i had an annoying flashlight bug

In a discussion, it was mentioned that there was originally an option to thaw the specimens in the ice in angler, and there was a way to enable the functionality of it, if you do not mind, could you please mention the command to enable it cuz i wanna see them melt even if it is useless tbh, and i did find mentions of the ice melting while checking stuff with the ent_fire command.

i know fat chance raptor sees this but i just gotta say whoever you are you did good, years later with the secrets all but known and this map still twists my stomach and leaves me shaken to my core, i really think that you have a knack for making amazing creepy worlds and i want to see what you make down the line. i hope your doing well in life and wish you have many more pleasant years taking years off my life.

you can actually fix the oxygen, just grab a wrench from one of the other bases and bash it against the outer generator thing

only problem with this map really from a gameplay point is the constant of the oxygen slowly running out in the bases, it adds a chore when trying to make scenes and stuff
