Introduction also spoilers ahead
In the game there are 7 fallen heroes that you the overlord are sent to kill, but an eight one is mentioned which ill get into later, but upon playing the game i noticed something very interesting. Each of the heroes represent one of the 7 deadly sins, ill go into detail for each one a little bit, I'll also go by order killed or in the 5ths case captured.
The 1st, Melvin Underbelly

Melvin Underbelly as he is called, is a half-ling from spree being the champion of the half-lings. His large size comes from his constant eating and being a glutton eating nonstop and to feed his need for food, he enslaved all of mellow hills and spree for his needs, he represents the sin of gluttony. This is the first hero you encounter and slay.
The 2nd, Sir William "The Black"

Sir William "The Black" is a hero of the humans and the 2nd one the Overlord goes head to head with, Sir William is a paladin who has fallen to his sexual desires becoming unfaithful to his betrothed lady "Velvet" whom can become a mistress of yours if you so choose. Sir William desires led him down the path of lust making a cult following these dark desires and summoning a few succubi to release his urges with, thus making Sir William the representation of lust.
The 3rd, Oberon Greenhaze

Oberon Greenhaze is an Elf from Evernight forest the home of his people and the third boss in the game the overlord faces. Oberon Greenhaze after the fall of the 2nd overlord (we play as the 3rd) returned to his home, but had no zeal for battle anymore even when the Goldos dwarves raided his home he did not fight, instead he fell into a mystical slumber covering the forest in darkness with his nightmares spread by a great magical tree he merged with being lazy like a sloth. Thus Oberon Greenhaze is the representation of sloth or laziness.
The 4th, Goldo Golderson

Goldo Golderson is the king of the dwarfs hailing from the golden hills and the 4th boss the overlord faces. Goldo after the fall of the 2nd overlord Goldo returned home but grew an insatiable desire for gold, it became so bad that at a point he went and enslaved his own people and the Elves of Evernight to mine gold for him to sate his greed for it. In his story he even tried getting back the gifts of gold he gave to Sir William as wedding presents. He represents the deadly sin of greed.
The 5th, Jewel "The Thief"

Jewel is a renowned female thief from the Ruborian desert and the 5th hero the Overlord faces off against and eventually captures. Jewel always loved having riches but had no love or joy for any she had herself instead she wanted and desired what other people had which drove her to be the thief she is, and being envious of others treasures gave her the thrill and desire to go steal all she could. Thus Jewel represents the deadly sin of envy.
The 6th, Khan "The Warrior"

Khan is a fearless leader and as his namesake is, khan to the people of the Ruborian desert, he is also in love with what he sees as his greatest treasure, Jewel. Khan has one major problem and that was how easily angered the giant was due to many of his insecurities and fears more so with his affair with Jewel. Because of this rage he was known to go on tyrates against innocent villages in is anger and wrath destroying all in his path. Thus Khan is the representation of the deadly sin of Wrath.
The 7th, The Wizard (2nd Overlord)

The Wizard was once a human male who is the father of both possible mistresses, Velvet and her sister Rose, but he lost his body and soul while examining the corpse of the 2nd overlord who now posses his body and corrupted the other 7 heroes. The wizard before his untimely death prided himself as being the leader and bane of all evil, while the 2nd overlord who now puppeteers the body prided himself in making the other 7 heroes fall as hinted in his lines during his boss fight. Thus the 7th hero the wizard before and after is the representation of pride.
The 8th, The Overlord (the 3rd)

SURPRISE! there was an 8th hero. The 3rd Overlord aka The Overlord we play as is the 8th hero who met his demise before the start of the actual game. He is the 8th hero as hinted at by the wizard who was the one who killed the 2nd overlord but in return was close to death and abandoned by the other 7 heroes being healed by the remains of the minion army and gnarl til he was able to rise and take the place of the 2nd overlord unknowingly actually being a pawn which is reveled by the wizard whom is possessed by the 2nd overlord by the end of the game. the 8th hero shares the sin of pride with the wizard believing he was the true controller of the dark tower in which he was quite fully and more so after he did fully and finally kill the 2nd overlord. you follow the Overlords story throughout the game but not much explanation needed on him, but thus he shares the deadly sin of pride with the wizard.
Disclaimer
1st: I did not take or make the images myself but were collected from google searching them and to gather background information on the heroes i read through the Fandom Wiki
2nd: this is all my work just re-posted in raising hell, and i plan to add info of the dlc once i play through them since the lore and the sins in turn are expanded in said dlc.

Randomly stumpled upon this post while browsing my libary. It's downright amazing.
May evil always be with you.

Besides that the games has a few play styles which is why my only evil action I'll possibly take with a grain a salt is Velvet as a mistress i agree, the others give solid boosts to all minions, but when it comes to Rose and Velvet... think of it as a ranger/stealth build vs a tank/bruiser build. Rose boosting blue and browns reinforces setting up a set of blue and brown for tanking to make immortal loops of front liners who just wont die, where as the red and green setup is for kiting into ambushes for bonus dps which is a lil jank thanks to greens not going for back stabs during kites with red making the boost more useful for only reds so i kinda prefer Rose a bit more as well i agree. (2 end)

The story and view of the 3rd Overlord kinda depends on the route you take which equates the sins with his personal 2 being wrath (because mass genocide in a few ways and revenge) and pride (you own a personal army and conquered multiple places peacefully or by pure evil for the corruption route) so who would not have pride in that? I'd also argue that there's very little point in going the evil route since velvet offers an upgrade to the green and red minions, and the objective best combination of minions is the brown and blue.

I think when you get up to 50, I did something around 30 brown and 20 blue. Rose is the way to go tbh

Your character arc is actually being given the opportunity to commit each sin yourself.

Jcookster is on point.

some descriptions are hard to read. run-on sentences and the like.....

Hey Jcookster, you are almost there but not quite.
1. Gluttony is correct.
2. Lust is correct.
3. Sloth involves the Overlord stumbling upon a grove and he is requested by some ghastly elves to rid it of unicorns. You can choose the easy route (sloth) to burn the grass in the grove thus killing the unicorns and destroying the grove, or you can fight them like normal and make your escape with the totems.
4. Greed is correct.
5. Envy is correct.
6. Wrath is represented by the villagers asking for your forgiveness after Khan raids the town. Killing them in your fury represents this sin.
7. Pride, represented by the second overlord, has no specific event tied to it. It is instead represented by the culmination of all the prior sins, just as the second overlord himself is the source of the prior sins on the fallen heroes as well.

It may be a slight stretch, but I believe that the 3rd Overlord is a representation of all 7 deadly sins combined (That is if you are 100% corrupt). This is because:

1. Gluttony (You chose to feed your minions over the starving peasants)
2. Lust (You chose the more lustful sister Velvet over Rose)
3 & 4. Sloth and Greed (You couldn't be bothered to save the Elven race by rescuing their females and instead decided to take Goldo's gold)
5. Envy (You decided to steal the Mother Goddess statue instead of returning it to the Elves)
6 & 7. Wrath and Pride (Having been betrayed by all involved, you take out your anger on the second Overlord by killing him and thus priding yourself as the new ultimate Overlord ruler)

If the 3rd Overlord chooses not to be corrupt (0%), then it could be said that the overlord is overcoming most of these sins, e.g. leaving the food for the starving peasants. However the wrath and pride part is hard to justify...

There is but one glaring typo I found, at Jewels text where you said she "steel" whatever she could. It is "steal", if you mean to say theft, "steel" is the metal. Otherwise nice story bro!

Great post but I think the Overlord has the sin of pride only if you go for the evil ending.
