How to paste game icons into names of systems/planets/leaders, etc.
By ŔĘÜŠŠ(´・ω・`)
This is a tranlated version of Original Russian Guide. It may contain mistakes and wrong termins.
Let's carry on exploiting Stellaris! Pasting any in-game icons into any text!
Inspired by the Color text guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2152926773
Due to this guide being a translation, screenshots will be in Russian language. Will not affect the perception in any major way though.

Introduction
You can read the basic principles of what we are going to do here in the guide from another person about how to change the text color in almost all titles/names. Link

Long story short, there is a magic invisible symbol that looks at charecters after it, and, depending on the subsequent text, is replaced with a certain picture along with the text. The symbol is: (Note that it is DIFFERENT from one which is used to change the color)

In this guide I will show some examples of icons insertion sequences (sequences from now on) and how to use them.
Instructions and sidenotes
Firstly, there will be no sequences for ALL the icons that exist in the game in this guide. There are simply too many of them, and there is no complete list anywhere. At the end of this guide, I'll show you how to find the sequence of the icon you need yourself.

Any sequence looks like this: < symbol> + <icon name> + <space>. Icon names are case sensitive!
A space at the end is mandatory, plain text starts after it (accordingly, the icon name cannot contain spaces).
Example: "energy Energy"
Some icons have several variations. For example, the leader level icon. Variations are switched by adding a "|" symbol and a number after the icon name.
Example: "leader_skill|6 Fifth fleet".
The feature described in this guide can also be combined with colored text (although icon always will be the same color). However, your attention once again, the icon symbol and the color change symbol are different from each other.
Example: "energy UEnergy! power"
A small addition to the color guide.
The combination "!" is used as a reset of the color to the previous one used. Note that the color is set back to the previous one, not the default one! So, if you name your planet (color white default for names) "YellowR Red! Previous", the word "Previous" will be yellow, not white. That said, in order to reset to the default color, the number of "!" resets must be equal to the number of color changes.
Also, it is highly recommended to reset the color at the end of names always, otherwise it may result in situation where all the text after hypothetical planet will be the same color as planet name.

And, in the end, I want to say in advance that due to restrictions on the number of characters in the names of some objects (e.g. Planets), you may get in a situation where you will not have enough space to enter the name along with the icon (because the sequence for inserting it is treated as text, and not as one character). Please, test this guide on empty namefield, there may be not enough characters to paste the sequence and it will appear as question mark.

Keyboard/gamepad keys
The keyboard and gamepad buttons also have their own icons.
For keyboard buttons, it's just a sequence of "<button>". This works with all letters, numbers, f-keys, backspace, end, home, pgup, pgdn, escape, shift, del, ctrl, tab, space, alt and return.
You can make something like this with it:

(s t e l l a r i s)

Sequences for xbox gamepad:
gamepad_a, gamepad_b, gamepad_x, gamepad_y, gamepad_lb, gamepad_rb, gamepad_lt, gamepad_rt, gamepad_rs (right stick), gamepad_start
Instructions for finding sequences for icons.
You can try finding sequences you need just by guessing, like, for example you need food/alloy icon and you write "food" or "alloys" respectively and boom, you guessed it.

For which we can't guess let's see what russian hackers have...

The Cheat Engine method
This method is NOT DANGEROUS for your savefile, game or account. We only read data from the game's memory, but we do not write them and do not make any changes in files/memory/data.

You can find a sequence for absolutely any icon that you see next to any text this way. To do this, we need a Cheat Engine. Download and install it from official website[www.cheatengine.org].

Launching Stellaris and deciding from which text we want to pull the icon from.
Let's take, for example, the icon of brain drones of the hivemind; accordingly, the text in which it appears is a description of Research Labs.
(Russian text after brain drone icon: "Научные дроны превращают..." (Brain drones produce...))
Then, we're launching Cheat Engine, pick the Stellaris process and click "Open"
Pick "String" in the "Value Type" dropdown and enter the text fragment, that appears before or after the icon you need in "Text" text field. The text must be one color.
(Previously noted with italic russian Research labs description fragment is written on a screenshot)
Click "First Scan", the scan proceeds and we have some memory addresses in which our text was found on the left panel. Scroll to the bottom, click right mouse button on one of the last entries and pick "Browse this memory region"
Here we see some horrifiying window with game executable machine code, strange characters and stuff. Don't get distracted or scared tho, we only need to pay attention to the area inside the red rectangle. Here are the game memory data in text.
Sadly, russian characters are not visually shown in cheat engine, they appear like an empty spaces, but, you may belive me, empty space at very top is russian Research Labs description we searched for. There will be a readable text in this window for english game.
As we remember, the brain drone icon we need is written just before the text we searched, so we scroll this area up a little and find... "job_brain_drone"!
Please not that the "j" has jumped a little to the top line, you may accidentally not notice such a thing, think that the icon is called "ob_brain_drone", and get disappointed.
To make sure you found what you need, click on the dot right in front of the icon name. If it highlights the cell "13" in the table on the left, then this is what we were looking for.
If you have issues with this step and you cannot find a combination for the icon you need, try to go a few steps back, select another address in the list and see its memory area.
Here, by the way, you can also find other sequences for other icons. Such as ".energy" for the energy credits icon or ".exotic_gases" for the exotic gases icon.

Name our planet "job_brain_drone Science" and boom, job well done!

That's exactly what I just went through, thanks for confirming :bullseye:

You are not exactly right. Although this method indeed doesn't work in Stellaris, please take note, that alt+code works with DECIMAL character code. Thus, the combination shall be alt+0019, and alt+0013 stands for CR (incorrect newline) (that probably shall appear as square too, but seems to be not working as well)
xXBulletJusticeXx Jul 24, 2022 @ 12:11am
Seems like there is currently no support for proper Decimal input in Unicode for Stellaris via american standard ASCII input (alt+code) some characters work, but the entire table does not seem to be available to use. shame.

that said, copy paste method works just fine, all you need is to have is :2017stickydrink:

Ok, so Device Control 3 in ASCII is HEX 13 DEC 19 OCTAL 023 Binary 0010011

knowing this, you should be able to use alt+0013 for game icons. I'll go test this now.

@Ormagoden
The "square" symbols are DEVICE CONTROL TWO (0x12) and DEVICE CONTROL THREE (0x13) for color and in-game icons respectively. I'm pretty sure you don't have the kind of keys on your keyboard to type them, so the only way you've left with is just to copy them from here
xXBulletJusticeXx Jul 22, 2022 @ 8:54pm
@Ormagoden , from what I've gathered from the exact same question I asked and was answered , you have to copy and paste it directly into the game from the list in this guide.
Ormagoden Jul 22, 2022 @ 8:07pm
How do you make that "square" symbol before the name you want to color?
ŔĘÜŠŠ(´・ω・`)  [author] Jul 19, 2022 @ 12:06am
@xXBulletJusticeXx
I think I covered everything possible in this guide, but you can ask any particular question here, please be precise.

As for how you get the symbols in the game - you can just paste the combinations from table column "Sequence" right away. No mods or special manipulations required.
xXBulletJusticeXx Jul 18, 2022 @ 1:17pm
Just curious how you get the symbol in there??? is it copy/paste symbol requirement or what?
