Please download Smoker's 'Expanded Utility: Experience' mod in order for this to correctly work. However, do not use the other versions of my Increased Level Cap mods, as the adjusted version is already included in the patch. The default load order I set should overwrite my other versions' files if included by accident.



Overall, this mod incorporates my 'Increased Level Cap (Adjusted)' mod with Smoker's 'Expanded Utility: Experience' mod. In short, the level cap was raised from 7 to 14, the experience required for Hunters and Mystics to promote was reduced, and you now get an adjusted amount of skills to pick from for each promotion.

The long, I like to think of the increased level cap to 14 as uncapping it, and this mod was not created with the intention of you reaching the new cap. Although, props to you if you do! In addition, I personally felt like Hunters and Mystics promoted too slowly, especially if one died late game. With that thought in mind, I lowered the experience required to promote (as shown in the technical section). For the last bit, this mod is a patch to Smoker's experience mod, which allocates 3 stat increase usages per promotion instead of the default promotion stats. However, I have adjusted the stat increase allocations to my preference: more allocations towards the first four promotions and less towards higher promotions (exact numbers shown in the technical section). This allows for new recruits/replacements to get into the swing quicker, leaving you less crippled when the veterans are out/deceased. If you find it makes the game too easy, just increase the amount of starting calamities or difficulty setting; it works for me. :)

My project goal, if I can figure this out, is to also include a stat increase remaining tracker. I'm just currently unsure how to implement this or if I want to devote that crazy amount of time to figure it out. In the meantime, you'll have to manually count your clicks for any hero with multiple promotions (looking at you legacy characters). I personally keep track of the icons disappearing, and when they reset, I know I'm on the next group of promotion stat increases. My second goal would be to introduce some type of temporary buffs for the starting campaign mission(s) (the battles that occur before you can allocate your stats on the overland map) if Smoker doesn't resolve it. Some campaigns (eg, Monarchs Under the Mountain) can be a pain to start due to the current mod implementation.

Note that I will not be adding any other adjusted versions; this will be my only version, is what I currently use, and will update as my preferences change. Overall, the XP delta is a very basic edit, and if you wish to personally adjust the the XP deltas, look for the file labelled 'classLevels.json'. You can edit it in notepad (although messy looking) or with notepad++ (easier on the eyes). Just be aware that adding or removing levels (from 14) requires tweaking multiple files.

It is not easy to describe how to modify the number of 'stat increases remaining', but I had to go through many files (with notepad++) to change the appropriates 3 values to what is listed above to get it to work properly. If you insist on modifying them, you can get an idea by opening all of the files (including the stat files) and locate where i put down a 5; this is the location that has to be changed everywhere. On a side note, these posted numbers are subject to (rarely) change as they are set to my preference, and I may release a different version in the future that is truer to Smoker's mod intentions.






I am also taking suggestions/recommendations for new promotion names/prefixes, and I have no current plan of adding additional star animations (or colors) on the promotion screen. If someone wishes to do this, you are more than welcome to. You can either provide me the updated file for me to publish (with credit, if desired) OR you may freely publish it with credit to me, Nyans.

IntellectMaster made a mod that I used to disect and figure out how to create the Increased Level Cap mod. If you want an alternative one with stronger stat boosts at higher levels, check it out! I also borrowed some of their promotion names for this mod's promotions. The main difference (that I know of) is my mod ONLY tweaks the level cap and experience deltas, while their mod has different level caps, deltas, and stat boosts. The only caution I'll give is that their mod may not work as intended due to its age and with how much of the target files were modified. This is NOT compatible with Smoker's experience mod, at least in the way you would expect!
