Introduction
The Millionaire and Genocide Achievements. The two most elusive, and grind-inducing achievements in the game. It is achievements like these that stop people from 100%-ing games, and for good reason. There is no way, even if you play once on each difficulty to get these achievements through 'regular' gameplay. Unless you aim to beat the campaign 10 times or possibly even more, which is boring and could take 50+ hours of gameplay. Millionaire is easier to achieve through regular gameplay but Genocide is much harder. 1 million coins comes much quicker than 250,000 enemies. This guide is for those who don't want to spend countless hours playing the campaign over and over to get these achievements. Don't get me wrong; the campaign is great! But playing it 10+ times to grind out these achievements? I'll pass...if I can.

And thankfully you can! There are two ways to get these achievements that will make it much faster than normal, and also much easier on you. So let's start with Millionaire.
Millionaire
This is pretty straightforward and I assume most of you may already know/have thought of this before, but it is very effective. Simply play through the campaign any way you like until you reach the final boss: The Dragon. I've been told by user 5M0k1N in the comments that you actually recieve more gold in general, as well as at the Dragon when playing on easy so get there on easy to speed up this process! Go through the portal and collect all the massive amounts of loot in the room with the Dragon. This usually equates to 8,000 coins or more. Once you have collected them all, either Game Over yourself, or just simply quit out to the main screen. Then reload your game back to the entrance of The Dragon room, with all the coins and loot respawned. The loot you collected previously will still count to your total of 1,000,000 coins, and you can just repeat this over and over until you get the achievement. This method is much faster than normal campaign play and can save you many hours, however it IS repetitive and will get very boring just collecting treasure from the Dragon. If you'd rather play normal to get this, by all means do so! This is just a much quicker and easy method to get the achievement.

Next up:
Genocide
This achievement would take countless hours to complete normally, even longer than the Millionaire achievement. I currently have around 430,000 coins on Millionaire, but only 67,000 kills for Genocide. I got all of these through regular campaign play, but I plan to use these methods to finish them off, as the campaign is getting very boring now and I've finished it on Hard. However as you can see from my example it takes forever to get this even compared to Millionaire. The new Auto-Fire implementation however, provides us with a very easy way to get this achievement via the Bonus levels.

For this method I strongly suggest - practically require - usage of the Paladin. If you hate the Paladin, don't worry, you only need to play Act I. Play through the game as normal, just remember you MUST buy the Sword Arc 1 and Sword Damage 1 upgrades, as well as Combo and Combo Timer 1. Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy Combo Nova, it will ruin this method. Play through the game until you can reach the Bonus Level in Act I. If you don't know how to get there refer to this very very useful Secrets guide to each Secret in the game. Once inside you must make sure to not destroy any Spawners/Nests/whatever. DO NOT BREAK THEM. Another thing you must make sure of is that your AutoFire and Attack keys are bound to the same thing, for example Spacebar. Next position yourself like THIS in the Bonus Level:

You can see I have Nova here, but this was not meant for getting the Genocide achievement. Do as I say not as I do applies here. Make sure you have manually killed off all the Archers around so they don't poke at you, and then simply place something heavy eg. a Stapler, on your Spacebar (or preferred attack key). You will continue attacking and not be hit at all by the Skeletons. Even if you are hit the drop apples VERY often so you should be okay. And then you simply go do somthing else! Go out, play Xbox, eat dinner, do whatever! And your game will continue racking up kills for Genocide. This is also a perfect place to get a 1,000 combo, but that's for perhaps another guide :P
And you simply stay here until you get the achievement! If something messes up, you can quit out and reload your game to start the Bonus over and get back into position! Easy as that.
Conclusion
I know this may get a lot of hate as people will say this isn't the 'legit' way to get these achievements. But honestly it is a bit ridiculous of them to ask us to get 1,000,000 coins and kill 250,000 enemies to be fair. Others may say if you can't get it the normal way don't get it at all. However, I am an achievement hunter at heart, and it is my mission to find the easiest and fastest ways to get Grindy achievements such as these. For those of you this helped I would appreciate any feedback and good luck on getting Genocide and Millionaire.

I'm curious what kill-rate people are getting and if they can keep a consistent combo. I occasionally have my combo broken, even have died once or twice. Way sloppier and slower results than I was hoping. I also noticed after a while in one spot that things were starting to lag pretty bad, possibly due to the high number of items on the ground, so I spammed charge and hurt myself a bit to pick up a bunch of them. I think I only have 10k more kills after over an hour into this. I feel like bat spawners would be better and this will take more than a day at this rate.

The Millionaire achievement is fairly reasonable to get via normal play if you pick up all the coins you come across and + play both campaigns + some Survival (ideally on Medium + Hard). Genocide on the other hand is unreasonable. After many complete campaign runs + games of Survival, I was at ~65k kills / 250k. This or Hard Crystal Lich is gonna be the last one most people get. Unlike HCL it's not truly difficulty, just tedious and time-consuming. Reminds me of the Terraria achievement for doing a high number of fishing quests (last one I got). The 1000 combo one is bordering on unreasonable, though 200 combo is very doable in CH. Maybe harder in multiplayer. The 1000 combo achievement encourages you to sit in front of a spawner and autoswing, which seems silly. Genocide is the same spawner camping you'd do for combo, but w/ time multiplied several times over.

Meh being an achievement hunter doesn't really mean we have to find the easiest and fastest ways. Methods like these are more like a last resort for one reason or another. Me it's because they're remaking HW1 (since I am from the FUTURE according to how old this guide is and it's comments) anyway but we all CAN share the burnout of playing so many times and for so long. That's a fair reason enough.

Heck I don't even blame the achievements having a tall order! It's a good thing achievements aren't always easy. Anyways these methods are fine within fair and right context, otherwise always encourage doing stuff legit.

P.S: Yes I know you made this before other campaigns.

Can also do the genocide setup by using shift + tab to open the steam overlay... Your dude will continue to attack until you shift + tab back in (as opposed to using a stapler)...

Could be! Would make sense if you get more per hour!

First off, thanks a buch for the guide
Second : It took me about 1h30m to get the achievement, the last 30m i went just for the gems, you get about 5k gold in a lot less time, i think its worth it but i didnt do the proper math :)

I made this before any further campaigns were released. It's entirely possible there's a better method for even both achievements in any other campaigns but I haven't played the game enough since then to know/update this

According to this guide on AStats [astats.astats.nl] by Kytharc, looting one of the rooms filled with gold in the Sun Temple campaign is much faster.

Yo, I hope you don't mind, I used part of the information of your guide to make a bit more detailed version on the Millionaire achievement. Can't wait to let my game running for like 10 hours for the remaining 150,000 kills I need for Genocide though, ha.

Its too long? :O As opposed to getting it the normal way? XD
