The banks of the Iwama Reservoir are surrounded by hills and the river channel is winding. The Chenghe River is the main river in the district, the river valley is 200 to 350 meters wide, and the Ouyu River flows from the northeast to the southwest, the river width is 100 to 180 meters, and it joins the Chenghe River at the dam site. The reservoir area strata mainly include the pre-Paleocene Aurora deep metamorphic rock strata, the Proterozoic Aurora sedimentary strata, the Lower Paleozoic Cambrian sedimentary strata, and the Cenozoic IV loosely stacked strata. Geological formations are dominated by faults.
