Intro
You may've loaded the game up and realized the default keybinds aren't up to modern standards, and worse, there's no in-game option to rebind them.

With this quick and painless mod you'll be able to have a far more convenient set of keybinds while still having the ability to input text properly at the press of a single button.

Additionally, I've edited in a small section near the bottom that'll point you in the direction of an installer for the CD version if you'd prefer to experience the game that way.

EZ Walkthrough (TES Arena Remapped)
  • Download the mod TES Arena Remapped
    from Nexus[www.nexusmods.com] or Moddb
  • Extract the contents of the compressed folder
  • Find your local arena install folder and navigate to DOSBox-0.74
  • Place 'mapper' and 'mapper-0.74.map' into DOSBox-0.74
  • Voila

Example folder location

How it oughta look when you're done

If all went well you should now have a much easier time enjoying the game.

Controls (TES Arena Remapped)

Remember to hold L ALT when you need to enter text

ALT+ENTER toggles fullscreen

CTRL+F12 increases dosbox cycles, improving performance. You can do this repeatedly until it performs to your expectations/preferences.

F4 toggles message pixelation. Disabling this will cause text windows to appear quicker, removing a fade-in effect that's on by default and can be quite tedious.

Alternate Option: Arena Setup (CD Version)

If you'd rather play the CD version, use Arena Setup[wiwiki.wiwiland.net]. The link included has the .exe, as well as an advanced configuration guide. I've briefly tested it and it seems to work flawlessly.

Originally posted by pcgamingwiki:
The CD version has voice acting during cutscenes, removes the Shift Gate's copy protection questions, a remastered ending, and small graphical changes to items like shields. The two versions are otherwise identical.

I don't have the Cd version, so nexus could have solved it but the modding for the game seems to not like my hardware?

As for the "m" key glitch, the first mapper I downloaded had the same glitch. I re-downloaded it from another site and it appears to be fixed in a later version of the mapper.

Except for the "m" key. I had to save and delete the map files and go back into the game to get out of Elden Grove. But that's the only key I've found so far that doesn't work with the ALT.

Excellent! Thank you. I'm that guy that doesn't RTFD. It worked fine.
