Introduction
I am now playing Skyrim Special Edition for a while now. I did have my share of problem whit this game. But most of them got away with SKSE and by modding the game. That is where Mod Organizer 2 comes in.

If you are using Skyrim SE without mods. Changing your screen resolution by the game engine is easy. Also, many people use custom resolution made via their graphic card and the game can use them via the menu itself.

Unfortunately, using MO2 makes things a bit more complicated. Editing "skyrimprefs.ini" in your documents folder will not do it. I was changing mine and the game was still running at the default 1080p monitor resolution. So, I had to work around it.

I did some research. Then I found out that MO2 makes its own .ini files for mods and other configurations. So MO2 use a custom "skyrimprefs.ini" located in his directory. That is where the fun begins.
Step 01
Now we need to locate where those files are. We need to start by locating the MO2 main folder. By right clicking on your MO2 shortcut. You will then go down in the menu and click "Properties". Now go on the tab named "Shortcut". In the lower portion of the Properties window, click "Open File Location".
Step 02
Now that you found the main directory. You will now open the folder named profiles.

Next, open the folder named Default.

This folder contains many ".ini" files. But the one we need is named "skyrimprefs.ini".
Step 03
Now to open "skyrimprefs.ini", you will need a text editor. Windows Notepad will do. In this guide I am using Notepad++. When your "skyrimprefs.ini" is open, use the search function to find those values:

iSize H=

and

iSize W=

The "H" is the height value of the resolution, and the "W" is the wide value of the resolution. Be careful when choosing your values. Do not invert them and use values that your hardware and drivers can support. Mine are 2560x1440 so it goes like this.

iSize H=1440

and

iSize W=2560

Now you should save the file with the exact name and location: skyrimprefs.ini
Try to run your game via the MO2. It should be working.
Troubleshooting
If the game doesn't run or your mods are not loading right. Check if you are running the right shortcut. It happened to me the first time. So, I changed it in the drop-down menu.

Now it should be working fine.
Conclusion
I hope this guide helped you all. I know it is a lot of steps. I wish I found this earlier. It would have been easier for me to find out why my game still looked jaggy and choppy.

Have fun.

Hi Kazui

I just got back recently, and I didn't play much since my last away time last winter.

But, I'm pretty sure you didn't edit the right INI or didn't input the right resolution for your hardware and preference. My resolution is supported by my crappy 16:9 monitor, and it's the best I can have to get good fps with my hardware. So keep that in mind when you play with screen resolutions. Also, there can be interference with GPU software like Nvidia app or Nvidia control panel or whatever you are running as GPU, and as GPU's software.

I hope it helps you.

I'm going back in hibernation.

My mods and everything seems to be working fine- at least the game launched all good. I have Endergleam V3 installed on a fresh game. No other outside mods installed. I changed the skyrimprefs W but the reso did not change. Game still launches 5120x1440p instead of 2560x1440p like I changed it to :/
