Starting a new game
Choose your difficulty between Beginner, Standard or Expert.
This cannot be changed later.
It is possible to play in Beginner/Standard for the normal playthrough and then Expert for the New Game +.

Misty Woodlands
Danger Level: 1
Items (south of campfire): Life Flask x2, 250 Gold, Chest Key (sparkle), Spirit Card & Vanity Card (Chest Key needed), Anima Flask, Spirit Pot

All enemies are visable and you can figure out there weaknesses.

Those mobs will be listed in the Bestiary with their stats and drops.

Guarding will restore some MP and a level up will restore to full health.
Knockout party members will earn EXP but when all party members are k.o. it's game over.

On Expert avoid fighting for now, 2 maps to the north is a campfire, where you can save and restore your health.
After that you can start grinding.
Use your skills to level them up, so that they get stronger and cheaper to cast.
For example the initiate skill: Skill Level 3 = Cost of 8 MP -1 = 7MP

Scary fact: Even mobs/bosses can have a skill-up when the battle is going on!

North of the campfire you have to fight mob groups of 3.
To the west is a hostile presence.

Boss Mist Crawler: Schar will join your party. Weak to Lance and Holy. Poison it to deal additional DoT.
You unlock the first Achievement "Out of the Woods".

You can save the game.
Illuminated Palace
Ruined Village
Items: Chest Key, Elixir, 604 Gold

Schar leaves the party for now.

Pet Cats 100x to unlock the Achievement "Cat Lover" and obtain the Bell Whip (Staff).
Pet dogs 100x to unlock the Achievement "Dog Lover" and obtain the Bone Club (Axe).
Those weapons are much stronger as the currently available Tier 1 and 2 weapons at the Blacksmith (stats resemble tier 3 weapons).

Tell the Blacksmith "I need better equipment" to start the side quest "Better Armed I", Better Armed II".
Tell the Witch Lucy "I need more skills" to start the side quest "Greater Ability I", "Greater Ability II".
After you have fulfilled one request, you can ask again for the next one.
The Blacksmith for example will gift you either a Weapon or Armor and add Tier 3 gear to his stock.
Lucy for example will add Tier 2 spell books and Tier 1 charms and passive spell books to her stock.

Note: I recommend learning as many skills as possible to adjust them for boss battles. Don't forget to use the spell books on the character you want to learn the spell and equip it!

Talk to Schar to unlock Fast Travel and Party Management.

Note: Press action at the sitting bank next to Clymene to unlock the Hidden Achievement "Sit Down".

Misty Woodlands
Items (after boss): Power Card & Ancient Knowledge (Chest Key required), 530 Gold

Optional boss on the starting map Gargantuan Thorns: beware for Sleep, Poison and strong AoE! Weak to Sword, Axe and Fire. Best wait until you are much stronger, especially on Expert.
Drops the Rosemary Scythe (Tier 5 or 6) and unlocks the Achievement "Flower Gardening".

Palace of Light
Danger Level: 5

In the first floor (entrance) is a locked chest.
In the room of the 2nd floor is a campfire but you need a Lux Key to enter next room.
On the 3rd floor you will proceed when go throught the gate, but first go downstairs to the west.

Defeat the Bandits and Celina and Zion will join the party.

Note Party Management: Passive party members will now earn some EXP, but still exchange them regularly!
The level cap is 50!
Zion is currently the only character with an initial AoE.


At the 3rd floor east is another locked chest and Yellow Roses.

Note Yellow Roses: You can gift maximal 2 Yellow Roses to a character at the campfire to unlock a special scene in the ruined village and raise their stats.

Unlock the door at the campfire and proceed.
In the basement you notice a hostile presence.

Boss Holy Knight: Weak to Lance, Bow and Darkness. Sanctuary (Tier 2 Spell Book) is a live savior against this boss. With the correct weapon skills you can keep him poisoned and blinded.
Unlocks the Achievement "Radiance".

Head north to the 2 map.
The first 2 rooms you come across are locked and need Cobalt Key A & B.
The NW room contains a locked chest.
Unlock the SW door with the Cobalt Key A.
Once you flip the switch to lower some of the spikes, you are ambushed.

Free is now the western room of map 1 with another locked chest as well the way to the 2nd floor.
At the central room of floor 2 is the Campfire I.
Directly above the Campfire I on the 3rd floor is another locked chest.

Unlock the SE door of map 2 and defeat the next Gargoyle.
That has lowered the rest of the spikes.

In the east room of map 1 and in the north room of floor 3 are another locked chests.
Enter the room on map 3 to proceed.

Boss Ketos: Weak to Bow, Fire, Thunder.
You automatically reach Campfire II and Revouger joins the party.

Further north waits the guardian of this dungeon.

Boss Kraken: Weak to Sword, Thunder and Darkness. It has a strong AoE and can paralyze the party. Blind and Poison is recommended as well as HP over 300, Sancutary and Purify to each party member!
Unlocks the Achievement "Sea Conqueror".
Scorching Umbra

Prepare.
With the first found Chest Key of the Abyssal Desert you should be enough Key Items to upgrade your shops.
The Blacksmith will gift you either a Tier 4 Weapon or Armor like before and offers you the "Better Armed III" side quest.
Lucy will add Tier 3 Skill Books, Tier 2 Passive Skill Books and Tier 2 Charms and offers you the "Greater Ability III" side quest.

Sunken Sanctum
Don't forget the last locked chest!

The optional boss Gleaming Serpent can be found east of Campfire I on the 2nd floor. Weak to Axe, Fire and Thunder. Wait until you are much stronger (at least level 30 on Expert)! The spell Nullify will deal with its buffs.
Drops Vijaya and unlocks the Achievement "Giant Sea Snake".

Abyssal Desert
Danger Level: 15

I really recommend using the first Chest Key you find to use at the Sunken Sanctum to upgrade your shops and not on the locked chest at the Entrance map.

From the entrance map you can go east, north and west.
To the West is another locked chest.
The past to the east will end on the same map as the northern one (let's call it map 2).
The paths to the east and west are blocked by spikes, so head further north to map 4 (!), the Campfire I.

North of Campfire I the first chest you come across contains a Mimic.
The path to the west is blocked by spikes, so you can only go further north or east.
To the north is another locked chest, and further north (mimic valley) are mimics and the "locked" chest is a Greater Mimic!!!

Boss Greater Mimic: Can cast Death Gaze and kill the target! Has also other Omni Spells in petto. Weak to Axe, Staff, Ice and Thunder. Drops the Charm Ancient Coin and unlocks the Achievement "A Suspicious Chest".
Note: The Ancient Coin Charm will double the dropped Gold and item drop chance!

To the east you have to push the statue onto the obvious tile to lower the spikes of map 2.
Ignore the east of map 2 and head west.
There you find another locked chest and statue to push.
That lowers the spikes on map 5.

Head west and north to reach Campfire II.
Head further west to notice the hostile presence.

Boss Antares: Weak to Axe, Ice and Thunder. Purify should help with the poison and Nullify with the buffs.

Behind this boss is the last statue riddle to lower the last spikes east of map 2.

Boss Dark Knight: Weak to Bow, Ice and Holy. His Dark spells will decrease your defense what can be countered with Refresh.
Unlocks the Achivement "Vanquish the Darkness".
Neverending Snow
Ruined Village
Prepare.
Before you enter the Gateway later, upgrade your shops.
At the Blacksmith unlock the Achievement "Armed to the Teeth", get your free Tier 5 weapon/armor.
At Lucy's unlock the Achievement "Insightful" and browse in Tier 4 Spell Books and Tier 3 Charms.

Abyssal Desert
Remember to open the last locked chest!

South of Campfire II is the optional boss Grim Renevant. Weak to Sword, Fire and Holy. Come back much later. Refresh and Purify will deal with the debuffs and blind.
Drops Kaladana and unlocks the Achievement "Exorcism".

Chilling Tundra
Danger Level: 20
Items: Spirit Pot, Chest Key x2, 253 Gold, Smithing Material x2, Phasma Pot, Revival Balm, Yellow Rose x2, Remedy, Life Flask, Ancient Knowledge, 401 Gold, Shell Card & Ancient Knowledge (Chest Key required), Smithing Material & Endurance Card (Chest Key required)

Ice is slippery, so watch your step especially when you want those treasures.
Right at the Entrance is a locked chest.
Beware of Mimics!

Again I recommend using the first Chest Key you find to use for the last chest at the Abyssal Desert.

At map 2 you can turn east (map 3) or west (map 4).

From map 3 you can go south and north.
To the south you will find the Yellow Roses and the northern path will lead to map 5.
To the north you can collect more treasures and west of map 5 is map 6.

From map 4 you can go south or north.
The northern part will lead to map 6.

On map 6 is another locked chest, to the north is the Campfire and to the south talk to Green Haired Swordman.

Challenge Greenhaired Swordman: Weak to Lance, Bow and Fire. Best wait unitl you have the next tier of weapons! Without Nullify you won't stand a chance. Also blinding him additional to poison will make him bearable, too.
Unlocks the Achievement "Swordmaster" and you obtain Blood Muramasa.

North of the Campfire is the hostile presence.

Boss Gatekeeper: Weak to Bow, Fire and Holy. Have Refresh as his Wind AoE has a debuff.
Unlocks the Achievement "Sacred Gatekeeper".

POINT OF NO RETURN

Don't forget to find the last Chest Key and to open the last chest!
Before you proceed, upgrade your shops!
Grind and earn money to get the best gear, items and all spells!
Also don't forget to defeat the optional bosses to get the best weapons in game!

Once you are prepared, enter the Gateway.
The Final Ascent
Pristine Cathedral
Items: Spirit Pot, Remedy, Elixir, Life Flask, Revival Balm, Anima Flask, Phasma Pot,

Right to the north is the Campfire I without Fast Travel feature.
Your party members stand a bit further north.

Boss Cathedral Knight (NW): Weak to Axe, Bow and Darkness. Thanks to the new skill you have a chance to apply all status and debuffs in one turn. But still have Nullify equiped.

Boss Cathedral Reaper (N): Weak to Sword, Axe, Fire and Darkness. Have Refresh and Purify equiped or protect against Paralyze (Tier 3 Charm).

Boss Cathedral Golem (NE): Weak to Lance, Wind and Darkness. The easiest of those 3 bosses as it only raises its defences.

After all 3 Bosses are defeated, you can approach the magic circle near the Campfire I.

Items (2nd stage): Elixir, Life Flask, Revival Balm,

Beware of Mimics and reach Campfire II.
Campfire II marks the Point of No Return before the final battle.

Final Boss Divine Entity Saeclus: No weaknesses... until Adellum strengthens the seal.
Weakness Seal 1: Lance, Bow, Fire and Thunder. Spear of Erosion is similar to Foul Barrage.
Weakness Seal 2: (Sword or Axe), Staff, Ice and Wind.
Weakness Seal 3: (Sword or Axe), Holy and Darkness.

The weapon of Seal 2 should the opposite of Seal 3.
Unlocks the Achievements "A new Dawn" and on Expert "Transcendence".
New Game +
Unlock the Achievement "Rebirth".
Choose if you want to start over with a blank state or carry over your levels, etc.

As most of the game is the same as before, I will only note the changes down here.

Once Fast Travel is unlocked you will notice two new dungeons, but I recommend playing until you have all party members back!

Don't forget to gift the yellow roses and the cards again.

Sanctuary of Angels
Proto Angel Alpha and Beta: Both are weak to Axe, Lance (only Alpha), Fire (only Beta) and Darkness. Refresh/Nullify/Purify and protection against Paralyze is recommended.
They drop the Skill Book Grand Lumen and unlock the Achievement "Challenger of the Heavens".

Sanctuary of Daemons
Proto Daemon Alpha and Beta: Daemon Alpha is weak to Lance, Thunder, Holy and Demon Beta to Sword, Axe and Holy. Refresh/Nullify/Purify are recommended skills.
They drop the Skill Book Grand Tenebris and unlock the Achievemen "Challenger of Hell".

Right, the def+res spell is called Fortify.

I took screenshots to compare: Using Sanctuary, Clymene healed the party for about 80-95 HP, then for 125-145 HP after I cast Fortify on the party. Zion healed them for about 60-65 HP, then for 100-120 with Fortify. Yet, the original Res stat for the party ranges between 40 and 70 roughly.

I would have thought luck would also affect crit and dodge chance, but there's very little info on this game and the devs didn't bother to explain almost anything.

Regarding resistance, I'm trying to figure out what's going on but it's confusing. I've done tests by casting the res+def party spell and see that after casting, healing is 50-60% more effective. But the heal values between party members are very similar despite decent differences between each person's res stat.

Normally Luck affects the chance to be hit with a negative state.
Depending on the developer normally Healing is not affected by the magic defence aka resistance. I can't be certain here, but I don't remember any issues.
When there were I have notified the developer about it.

Thank you! Since you beat the game, did you ever figure out all of what the Luck stat does? And does Resistance affect healing power, or just Magic?
