[THIS GUIDE IS NO LONGER UPDATED, USE OPENRCT2]
You should use OpenRCT2, the free and open-source re-implementation of RCT2, for better translations and bug fixes.

[LEARN ABOUT AND DOWNLOAD OPENRCT2 HERE][openrct2.org]

I wrote this guide long ago in 2014. Since 2014, the community behind OpenRCT2 has translated the game into 23 different languages[github.com]. This is three times the number of languages RCT2 shipped with around the world in 2002.

Does RCT2 crash on your computer often? Do you want to change languages without having to modify the game's executable? Then you need OpenRCT2.

That being said, I'm keeping this guide up for archival purposes and for those of you who are running on older computers or don't care. I'll only update this guide to fix links if they are broken.
#0 - Preface
Preface

If you're here, you've probably wondered why your native language isn't in the game. Some of you have even said that your CD copy of the game had your language on it.

This guide was handcrafted by me and will allow you to run the game on a localized copy of RCT2 tailored to your region. I've tested every file for every language and gone over this guide by myself twice, so read the steps carefully, check out that neat little screenshot I added to this guide, and everything should work out!

Please note - I am not the original author of these language packs and I will most likely not be able to take requests to translate the game into your language. If you recall owning a CD copy of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 in a language not present in this guide or the Steam version of RCT2, I may look into it.
#1 - Knowing your Folders
Modifying the language of the game, manually, requires you to replace the executable file of the game, named "RCT2.exe" which is located in the RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 folder which in turn is in a folder Steam places all your other games in. The path of this folder should be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rollercoaster Tycoon 2
OR
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Rollercoaster Tycoon 2

If you've reached a folder that looks similar to this, you've made it! On to the next step.

Still can't find the folder? Try this:
* Go to your Library on Steam
* Right-click on RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack and hit "Properties"
* Click on the "Local files" tab and click on "Browse local files..."

As long as RCT2 is installed, the Steam steps above are universal and should work for everyone.
#2 - The Files
Below are download links to the language packs. If you use a language pack and later decide that you want your English RCT2 back, delete the RCT2.exe file I gave you, and verify the integrity of the cache with Steam. This can be done by accessing the Properties section of your game, clicking on the Local files tab, and then clicking on the respective button.

These are all hosted on my Google Drive. No ads or anything, just a simple link to the download. Did something break? Leave a comment and I'll get to you as soon as I can.
#3 - RCT2.exe
Now that you've downloaded the file, you're going to want to put that in the RCT2 folder I told you about in Section 1 of this guide. If you haven't done so already, delete the RCT2.exe file that was already in the folder, or simply overwrite/replace it when Windows asks you to.
#3.5 - Bonus!
Section 3 wrapped up everything you needed to know about getting this game in the language of your choice in the title. Anything past this is optional, but recommended.

If you've looked at the discussion forum for this game already, you should be familiar with all the topics regarding people complaining about a plethora of issues including graphical problems, saving issues and crashes. There is one simple trick that can fix most, if not all of these problems.

Keep in mind that not all Windows computers are built the same, so there is a chance that these extra steps won't work. It doesn't hurt to try though and it won't take you very long at all.

Step 1 - Start off by going to your RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 folder. Need help? Return to Section 1.
Step 2 - Right click on RCT2.EXE and access its properties.
Step 3 - Click on the Compatibility tab

Now you're going to want to tick the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:", and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)". Since RCT2 was designed to run on older operating systems, doing this greatly reduces the chance of crashes and other issues.

In addition, you're also going to want to tick the box that says "Reduced color mode". Set that to "8-bit (256) color". This part fixes minor graphical bugs and the potential lockups caused by them.

Now we're really done!

Questions? Did I do good?
Leave a virtual tip for me by leaving a comment or some other feedback, I eat that stuff up.

You wouldn't have to reinstall the entire game, you would instead have to delete the language pack I gave you (RCT2.exe) and afterwards verify the cache as explained here for Steam to redownload the English RCT2.exe.

Ignore the first few paragraphs, skip to "All operating systems - Verify integrity of game cache"
