How to put it in 1920x1080 or any native resolution you can't select.
Készítő: Coffee
Since this haven,t been patched by Codemasters, this is the workaround to play the game in any resolution you can't select despite being native ones.

I made the tutorial mainly for 1080P but just use a resolution twice bigger than yours with same aspect ratio.

How to put it in 1920x1080 or any native resolution you can't select.
[TUTORIAL] How to put it in 1920x1080
1. Go in your videocard settings. (NVIDIA control Panel or AMD Catalyst)
2. Select Display > Change Resolution
3. Press customize and make a custom resolution to 2880 x 1620 and apply it.
4. Be sure the windows is now at this resolution, sometime it go back to the previous one instantly and you need to reapply it.
5. Start F1 Race Stars.
6. The resolution should show more resolutions INCLUDING 1920x1080.
7. Select it then put back your windows resolution to normal (I assume it's 1920x1080.)

The devs seems to blame the drivers, but it is not, there's clearly a problem with their hardware auto detect. And this is a pure example how it SHOULD NOT be implanted in any game.

Some may don't know what's resolution it is but hey, it's less trouble to the devs to explain how to change it instead of putting a broken hardware auto-detect.

I really like Codemasters, they are really good for racing games (Overload series is a must too).
But THIS is too much lol.

So please Codemasters, fix this or just remove the autodetect and let us choose the resolution how we want.

You should put the configs in a .ini or .txt files instead of XML. Way more simple i case of faulty hardware auto-detect function.

Thanks, and for those who have AMD, this bug happen on AMD GPU too, i just don't have AMD catalyst so i can't say how to do it step by step bbut it might help.
Anyone who can explain it for AMD feel free to do.

It's also apply every resolutions even using more than one screens, just make a bigger resolution using the same aspect ratio

For everyone havin this issue, I have also found out a way to bypass it: By activating Virtual Super Resolution (for AMD cards) or the nVidia equivalent, you should be able to pick your resolution of choice, even higher ones than your native screen resolution, although the gains are debatable. :) Good luck! If you have an AMD videocard and 1920x1080 doesn't show up in the settings, turn on the "GPU Scaling" option in AMD Control Center. It's under the "Display" button.

You never heard of ubersampling?
Even if the monitor won't support it, in windows setting like the guide ask WILL work, it will ubersample the resolution inside a supported rsolution.

If the GPU cannot support it, it won't let you do a custom resolution of it. And supported resolution but old GPU are VERY BIG even more on recent GPU. More than needed.

AS i said, in your case it's all depend if the game engine support it.

1080P is supported so the guide is only a way to display it avoinding the auto detect unworking crap.

a 16x9 pixels difference for me wasn'T enough to trigger the engine detecting the resolution correctly so 1080P wasn't available with only 16x9 pixels more.

I see but I think you might want to adjust the suggestion.

You made a custom resolution to match the aspect but you put it so far above the desired resolution that this could cause issues where peoples monitors or video card may not support the resolution you recommended and they could get into trouble.

The easier way is to simply make the custom resolution the same as the desired resolution but increased literally by the smallest amount using the aspect ratio.

So, if your goal was 1920x1080, we all know this is a 16:9 ratio so it makes it easy to come up with (1920 + 16) and (1080 + 9) to get a custom resolution of 1936x1089.

So, for mine when I try it (and ill still report back with that), I have a resolution of 2560x1080 which is an aspect ratio of 21:9 and so my target would/will be 2581 x 1089.

Because the bug tend to show only 1-2 resolution, more resolution smaller than 1080P.

But yeah, i won't be surprised if the engine support your resolution, but if it's ultra wide, you need to select a bigger resolution than 2560x1080 with the SAME size RATIO. So you need to change a bit of the guide depending of the screen resolution

Oh, you just said "show more resolutions including 1920x1080" so I misunderstood. I have purchased the bundle and installed the game and will report back on whether or not I had luck with an ultrawide resolution.

My guide is how to be able to select 1080P as resolution due to a bug that won't let you select it.

I cannot confirm it can be used partially to make a custom resolution

Great tip. I am about to pick this up in the BundleStars bundle and I have an ultrawide monitor so it will be interesting to see if it can properly fill the 2560x1080.
