Giant Dad Returns.

A list of helmets and Armor types you could theoretically use to recreate the Giant Dad look.

Introduction / Light Info.

This is a fashion souls guide, so if you came here expecting a play by play stats rundown or a bunch of different builds, then this isn't the place as of 4/6/2022 no one is sure what the meta lvl is going to be or low lvl invasion is set at. I will edit this guide and list a build once that is no longer the case.

Helmets Intro.

Below will be a list of helmets that would be most appropriate for a Giant Dad character.

I know there are more face like helms, especially of the Glintstone kind, but they are either too detrimental to the player's stats or just don't quite fit the Giant Dad aesthetic.

Karolos Glintstone Crown.

Location

Can be found at Raya Lucaria Academy, Looted off a Crystallized Crab located at the west side corner of the academy's courtyard. Closest Site of Grace: Debate Parlor.


Pro's

• Increases INT by 3.

• Looks the most like the Giant Dad helm. (Mask of the Father)

Con's

• Decreases your Stamina by 9% when equipped.

Hierodas Glintstone Crown.

Location

• Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir: Found on a corpse behind a house on the south side of the village.

Pro's

• +2 to INT.

• +2 to END.

• Looks like Giant Dad helm.

Con's

• Decreases total FP by 10% when equipped.

Bull-Goat Helm

Location

• Once Patches has moved to Volcano Manor during his questline, he will give you a letter to kill Great Horned Tragoth.

Note: you need to join the Volcano Manor covenant and do a kill mission first for Patches to show up and give you this kill mission. You get the armor set immediately after killing Tragoth.


Pro's

• Looks like Giant Dad helm.

• Very beefy and has 15 Poise.

Con's

• Weight is at 11.3 Miyazaki Units. (probably doesn't matter since most people are going to have high END anyway)

Eccentric's Hood (Altered)

Location

• Obtained after defeating Witch-Hunter Jerren. (Sorceress Sellen Questline) (Side with Sellen)

Pro's

• Decently protective. (when compared to the Glinstone Helms)

• Not quite Giant Dad, but passable.

Con's

• Have to alter the helmet in order to get rid of the hood the blocks most of the face from view making the helm slightly weaker.

Armor Set Intro.

These are some of the armor sets I have found that look close to the Giant Dad style. There are only a few at the moment, but what matters is that the chest piece mostly resembles the Giant's armor set.

Crucible Knight Set.

Location.

• The whole set is dropped by Crucible Knight Ordovis.

Pro's

• Strong set of armor.

• Closely resembles the Giant armor chest piece. (just look at them pauldrons)

Con's

• The color of the set. (not sure if it's a me thing or if other people also don't like the color)

Tree Sentinel Set.

Location.

• Acquired in Auriza Hero's Grave - Eastern Section of the Capital Outskirts.

• In the dungeon make your way to the end of the large ramp room where two chariots spawn side by side. Once you reach the arch in front of where the third chariot in that area will spawn, you will see a corpse leaning off of the ledge. Align yourself with the corpse and jump down onto one of the narrow beams. Continue jumping down until you are on one of the two parallel beams at the bottom, and then follow them to the ladder. Continue on this path past the next chariot ramp room and there will be a passage on the left. (The end of this passage has an Omen guarding the Crucible Feather Talisman). Take the first left and take the elevator up. Get past the flame pillar and attack it; raising it up to expose the light onto the multi-chariot room floor. Run past the newly exposed flame pillar and follow the path until you end up back in the large ramp room. The chariots will now collide and be destroyed and the Tree Sentintel Set will be awarded along with the Ash of War: Holy Ground.

Pro's

• Looks very close to the Giants chest piece. (pauldrons are ok)

• Good stats.

Con's

• Not the easiest set to obtain.

Talismans Intro.

This is just going to list a few important talismans you should try to get your hands on.

Green Turtle Talisman

Location.

• Summonwater Village. In an underground area on the outskirts of the village.

Effects.

• Raises stamina recovery speed

without talisman: 148 stamina recovers 3.32 seconds = 44.5 stamina / second
with talisman: 148 stamina recovers 2.83 seconds = 52.3 stamina / second
=> ~ +17.5% (+/- 1%) stamina recovery speed

Great-Jar's Arsenal Talisman

Location.

• Reward for completing the 3 duelist NPC invasions in Dragonbarrow (Caelid North) for the giant Living Jar in the area. You will only be able to access this area by coming up from Siofra Deep River Well in the underground

Effects.

• 19% Increase to Max Equip Load

Erdtree's Favor Talisman.

Location

• In Fringefolk Hero's Grave: To get there, use 2 Stonesword Keys on the double Imp Keystone next to the Stranded Graveyard Site of Grace. This will lead to a mini dungeon with traps. Head down until you see the path narrow on both sides and drop drown at the edge to get access to the secret area. Proceed past the imps and a fire trap to find the item resting at an altar. Two Grafted Scions wait hanging above, so be sure to avoid them when they land and grab it really quickly.

• The +1 version can be found in the boss room AFTER the boss fight with Mohg, the Omen near the forsaken depths site of grace in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

• An upgraded +2 version can be found in Leyndell, Ashen Capital and may only be accessed near endgame/post-game. Found on top of a branch jutting out of the ground in a large courtyard, guarded by three large rotten beasts. Fast travel to Forbidden Lands, take the elevator up. Fight past a Knight and few soldiers, and continue down the stairs, then take the large wooden elevator down. You will arrive at a landing overlooking the courtyard where the rotten beasts and this talisman is located. You can avoid the beasts by hugging the left wall.

Effects

• HP increased by 3%

• Stamina increased by 6.75%

• Equip Load increased by 5%

Effects +1

• HP increased by 3.5%

• Stamina increased by 8.25%

• Equip Load increased by 6.5%

Effects +2

• HP increased by 4%

• Stamina increased by 9.5%

• Equip Load increased by 8%

Shard of Alexander.

Location.

• Drops from Iron Fist Alexander after completing his questline.

Effects.

15% increase in damage for all Weapon Arts. (Ashes of War)

The Zweihander.

This is the iconic weapon of Giant Dad himself.

Location.

Purchased from the Isolated Merchant for 3500 Runes. He can be found in his shack at the very west of the Weeping Peninsula.



Although it was a weak weapon like many colossal weapons on release, but thanks to patch 1.04 the following effects have been applied:

• Increased Colossal Swords/Colossal weapons attack speed and lowered their recovery time. Jump attack not included.

• Increased the two-handed attack damage of Colossal Swords/Colossal Weapons. Jump attack not included.

• Increased physical block rate and guard boost of the Colossal Sword, Colossal Weapons, Great Sword, Great Hammer, Great Axe, Great Spear, and Halberd weapon classes.
