Transport Tool v2.8.0

Description

Take control of your public transport.

This mod makes it easy to find busy public transport lines, without having to open each line individually and then scroll through the stop list looking for busy stops.

Features
  • Public Transport overview statistics
  • Columns are sortable so you can quickly find the lines with lots of waiting people
  • Highlights the line on the map that corresponds to the line under the mouse
  • Clicking on a line will cycle through the lines stops
  • Highlights the destination buildings for the waiting passengers. This is now a built in feature of the mod.
  • Adds an Orange Bus button to the Line Details panel to allow re-opening the Transport Tool panel easily
  • Supports cable car line information, which the base game doesn't.
  • Automatic detection of public transport line issues

This mod is not a replacement for Transport Lines Manager or Improved Public Transport 2. It is a tool to help you detect problems and improve the efficiency of your transport network, If you want unbunching or changing ticket prices or the ability to choose multiple vehicle types then you should try one of the above mods. This mod is compatible with both.

Main Panel Displays
  • Stops
  • Vehicles
  • Current Passengers
  • Total Capacity
  • Total number of waiting passengers
  • Number of people at the busiest stop
  • Number of people that are about to give up waiting (Bored)

Live tooltips
Most columns of the main panel now show live tooltips
Number of stops to show can be controlled in settings
Tooltip font is now fixed width and its size can be altered in the settings

Detection of Line Issues
Transport Tool now monitors your public transport lines and will warn when issues are found, including:
  • Detects and warns if transport line vehicles despawn (requires Harmony)
  • Detects and warns if transport line vehicles stop moving or are stuck in congestion
  • Detects if transport line stops have issues.
  • Detects and warns if bored count gets beyond a specified threshold.
Clicking on the warning will open the Line Issues panel and take you to the location

Usage
To open the panel, click on the orange bus icon on the main toolbar (toolbar at the bottom of the screen) or in the Unified UI toolbar if you use that or press CTRL+I (configurable)
Main Panel
  • Click - on the line will show the busiest stop for that line.
  • Control + Click - on the line will open the transport line world info panel for the line
  • Shift + Click - on the line will open the transport line world info panel and keep the Transport Tool panel open. While the transport line panel is visible further clicks on lines will also update the transport line panel.
Issue Panel
  • Click - on the line will show the line issue and set it as the selection tool target (blue follow me symbol)
  • Control + Click - on the line will also open the appropriate panel for the issue, whether that is a line issue or a vehicle issue.
Destination Highlighting
While a stop is active the destinations for the waiting passengers will be highlighted. To activate destination highlighting, click a line on the main panel. The panel will then activate the busiest stop for that line and move the camera to it. An information box beside the panel will indicate the current active line and stop. Repeated clicks on the active line will cycle through the remaining stops for that line.

Destination Building Colors
  • Yellow = 1 citizen
  • Orange = Up to 5 citizens
  • Red = Up to 10 citizens
  • Magenta = Over 10 citizens

If I may make a suggestion.
I would be nice to have a column with the line length in the line overview ui. Mostly for the buses, but also for the other types of transport.

Nice, now i get it :-)
If you are open for a suggestion for a new feature.. I'll just let it slip.
While in this minimial ui view showing the destinations, it could be really interesting if the transport lines stops could be shown somehow, to get an idea of the layout. A suggesting for showing the stops could be to use the graphical visual that is used when the water overlay is shown and the indicator that is used for where water intake and sewage buildings are. Like it is also used in the electricity overlay.

In the title bar of the main panel there is a location icon next to the close button. Press that to open the mini panel.

I see that the 'small panel' for destinations are part of the latest update.
But i'm not sure what to look for, the ui seems the same to me as it was before.
Can you tell me what to look for?

Sounds great. Thank you for doing this.

@CreatorOfWorlds,

I tested Commuter Destination and Transport Tool at the same time and both were highlighting the same buildings for the same stops so I don't think there is any issue between the 2 mods.

I am using a completely different renderer than that mod so I don't see how they can conflict as it doesn't require any harmony hooks or anything to display the destinations. Just a renderer to highlight the buildings.

I'll have a bit of a go at making a minimal navigation UI for Transport Tool for you so hopefully you wont need to run both in the future.

@ CreatorOfWorlds,

Anything is possible, I suppose. I'll run it later and see if I see issues.

Is it possible that the coding of this mod prevents the commuter mod from showing the destinations that it used to?
Sleepy  [author] Jun 29 @ 9:08pm
@CreatorOfWorlds,

This mod and "Commuter Destination" now have no interaction with each other. Clicking Prev Next on that mod will only change the display for that mod.

To step through the stops in TT, just click the same line repeatedly.
