MV Princess of the Stars

Here is the Philippine ferry MV Princess of the Stars.


MV Princess of the Stars was originally built as the Japanese ferry, Ferry Lilac. She was given to the Sulpicio Lines based in the Philippines. On June 21, 2008, she capsized during Typhoon Fengshen off San Fernando. When the ship lost radio contact, a speedboat found the ship partially submerged. A huge operation followed to recover the bodies of those still trapped inside, as well as the removal of some dangerous cargo. Only 350 bodies were recovered from the ship. The ship was towed to shallower waters for divers to explore the ship safety, and the wreck was cut in half. When the search was completed, the remains of the wreck were scrapped in 2011. Only 115 out of the 862 survived, making her one of the worst maritime disasters in Philippines.
