Gray Scrap is common scrap that looks like micro chips.

Archaic scrap is colored red, green and blue. Sometimes alt-colored enemy's will drop Archaic scrap so be careful with phase shots as colored scrap wont attract to you, same with any stat upgrades they may drop, only temporary stat boosts and regular gray scrap will attract to you. If you find a room with a lot of enemy's that have alt-color versions you can try and farm the room for more colored scrap or even stat upgrades.

Note that the Mechanical Gods may give you a re-roll of items and not what is listed here, but everything I've tested so far have been acceptable items and wont stick you with trash. If a re-roll does happen you may find the item you where trying to get in one of the shops or somewhere on the map as you explore further.

Chrome Dome reduces prices of gray scrap about 45% and takes away one Archaic colored scrap if the item originally cost 2 Archaic colored scrap, if not only the gray scrap price is reduced. Ex. Originally 15 gray + 1 Red + 1 Blue, with Chrome Dome now the cost is 8 Gray + 1 Red. Most runs if you see shops charging 2 Archaic scrap for one item chances are high that you might find a Chrome Dome later in the run, either at another shop or somewhere on the map. If the price seems high for an item at the moment keep playing and maybe you will find Chrome Dome or at least more Archaic scrap so the price wont seem so high.

Secret Areas

Glitch Realm - Forbidden Place
Most rooms you will need to defeat the enemies to proceed. In the Glitch Realm you will need 4 keys to unlock the Boss fight. I'd advise clearing out the normal map before visiting the Glitch Realm as it can be quite jarring and you will need all the upgrades you can find especially for beginners their. Warning if you have Artifice Helm enemies in the Glitch Realm tend not to drop gray scrap often, so I'd max out my gray scrap before going. There are a few ways to get to the Glitch Realm.

If you see Tutorial Smith glitching and you talk to him he will send you their.

Finding a way to glitch through a wall that had an item/upgrade using a crouching method then un-crouch in it, dashing, phasing or spin/double jumping into it might send you to the glitch realm, its happened to me before but I'm not sure exactly why, this method happened more by accident, so if these don't work then one of the other methods will.

Another way to go is using the Glitch Key.

Lastly to instantly be transported to the Glitch Realm from any shrine donate:
4 Gray, 4 Red, 4 Green and 4 Blue Scrap

Spooky Mode
In Spooky Mode enemies don't drop health, the only way to get more is from Health dropping orbs, picking up Health Tanks or having a Regeneration Helm, alternatively getting a Artifice Helm and using gray scrap from enemies, just keep in mind that if you go to the glitch realm most enemy's don't drop scrap.

To get to spooky mode without using a seed, fist you will need either the Personal Teleporter or Glitch Key.

Personal Teleporter method 1: defeat the Mega Beast Core down to its egg form then use the Personal Teleporter before killing it, get to the Glitch Realm and defeat Tutorial Smith.

Personal Teleporter method 2: go to the Glitch Realm, defeat Tutorial Smith and immediately use the Personal Teleporter to go back to reality, then defeat the Mega Beast Core.

Glitch Key method 1: defeat the Mega Beast Core down to its egg form then use the Glitch Key before finishing it off, then go to the Glitch Realm as normal.

Glitch Key method 2: find another way to the Glitch Realm without using the Glitch Key, defeat Tutorial Smith and immediately use the Glitch Key to go back to reality, then defeat the Mega Beast Core.

After doing either method you will start in Spooky mode. You will know it worked if you have a skull helmet.
