Intro
In this silly little guide, i'll try to teach you how to be a decent Bartender. Of course, I'll skip most the basic gameplay stuff, (like dropping items by pressing Q), since i'm assuming you know the basics of the game.

This guide'll cover some things you want to do, things you want to avoid, drink mixtures, and other stuff. If you find this guide helpful in any way, copy it down somewhere for personal use.

Anyway, let's get started!
Getting Started
So, you've just spawned as a Bartender. You may be wondering things like: "What should I do first? Should I get supplies? Make drinks?"

Well, my dear stranger, starting is a bit simpler than you might think.

As a Bartender, you spawn in... Well... The Bar, if you haven't joined late. You're equipped with:

  • A Bartender Outfit
  • A Kevlar Vest
  • A PDA
  • And a Satchel, Duffel Bag, or Backpack depending on your choice.

And the Bar you spawn in is usually equipped with:

  • A Booze Dispenser
  • A Soda Dispenser
  • A Booze Storage cabinet
  • and A Booze-O-Mat

(Right click a machine to see what it's called)

The Bar will also have other stuff, but those aren't used for doing your job.

The first thing you want to do, as soon as you spawn, is open the Booze Storage. You see, it doesn't have that much booze stored in there (besides the Beer), but instead has a Sawed-Off Shotgun with two rounds loaded in it. This will always spawn here. Take this, and place it in your bag, as it can help you fend off from whatever may come that shift.

If it's your first time beekeeping, look around a bit. Take a look at your exits. Because the Fun-Hating Antags love to bomb the Bar, knowing where to skedaddle off to if someone throws three mini-bombs in the middle of the bar is essential to your survival.

After you have your shotgun, walk over to the Booze-O-Mat, and get two Drinking Glasses from it. You would now want to place these in both the Soda Dispenser, and Booze Dispenser.

And, just like like that, you're all set for a shift of Bartender!
Other Stuff you Should Probably Do
After setting up, there are a few optional things you can do.

For example, you could:

Get Tools and Building Materials! If you plan on doing some construction within your bar, or... Anything, really, a full or almost full utility belt, as well as some Materials could help. You can get a full utility belt from the Engineers, or get your own belt by consulting your local YouTool. Metal, Glass, and Plastic can be obtained by asking Cargo. Metal Bars can me obtained via Crafting. And, Wood can be obtained via finding some or asking Botany.

Redecorate! Assuming you've got a toolkit from the YouTool and some building supplies, you could make the bar a little less generic.

Get Ingredients! Some drink mixtures require things that you can only get from chemists, the chef, or random Items. While not needed, you should probably talk with the chef, or a chemist to see if you can get your hands on some of these ingredients.

Find a Piano/Minimoog, or make a D.A.W.! Someone playing a Piano in your Bar could definitely help make your bar more... Bar-y. A Piano will typically spawn inside, or near the Bar. A Minimoog, however, spawns in the Maintenance Tunnels or anything Russian related. (Like, The Russian Solars, a location in the very bottom right of Packed, usually containing a Ushanka and a Minimoog). A D.A.W., or Digital Audio Workstation does not spawn on its own. However, you CAN make it... if you have a lot of materials.

Drink Mixtures Part 1
Now you're all set up. And you've got your first patron! But... There's an issue. He asked for an Antifreeze, and that... isn't in any of the UIs. Uh oh.

As a Bartender, sometimes you're asked for a Drink Mixture, instead of a base ingredient. In a few seconds here, I will give you a list of mixable Drink Mixtures that can be found on The SS14 Wiki[wiki.spacestation14.io]. (The Wiki also has some other useful stuff on there, so it wouldn't hurt to take a look at it!)

I prefer this over the guide they have. This is quicker to find and make. Thank you.

the game has a built in guide on how to make the drinks

For me I like to use this instead of the wiki because the wiki have drinks you can make but it takes time to found

Phenomenal guide, great work. Not only is the information laid out in a way much easier for me to browse mid-game, but I also find that it's somehow more accurate than the wiki. Do you have any idea why that might be?

That's a nice guide there! Have you thought about adding it to the SS14 Wiki?
