A Tale of Two Kingdoms - Walkthrough

Following this guide you will achieve the best ending, 100% Honor and Wisdom, and all 20 cutscenes are mentioned.

PROLOGUE

- climb the castle wall

- open the door on the left
- wait until the guard sat back down (you can look around to skip time)
- go up
- open the door on the left again
- use the bottle of cider on the guard's cup
- use the guard
- leave through the door on the left

- talk to a guard and mention the drunk guard
- use the crank in the lower left corner
- answer: it's on special orders to let in reinforcements

CHAPTER 1: A Mixed Welcome

- go to the library
- talk to the Chancellor about his game
- play the game with him until you win (you can use this as practice as you will have to play against a stronger opponent later)

- go upstairs
- take the vase to receive the scepter
- pull the cord (only when no guards are in the hallway!)
- quickly go to and use the balcony in the lower left corner of the screen

- rush to the guard room
- grab the rope from the dummy
- go to the throne room
- give Princess Rhiannon the scepter

- leave your room
- quickly use the ajar door on the left
- grab the dagger from the body
- either wait or leave the room (the eventual outcome is the same)

CHAPTER 2: Flight of the Dove

- look at your window
- use your window to receive a piece of cloth
- take the pillows
- use the pillows on the bed
- use the cabinet
- quickly walk to the left behind the door

- walk down the servants stairway on the far right
- take the bucket
- walk down to the guard room to see a CUTSCENE (the Chancellor talking to Geraint)
- use the bucket on the torch

- talk to the guard
- use the vase on the guard
- climb down the wall and go down

- move forward to hear a conversation
- wait until the guard is looking away
- exit the screen to the left

- when the guard walks up, you walk down around the fountain clockwise
- enter the stables on the upper left
- take the shining nail
- leave the stables

- go up
- use the nail on the tailor's shop's door and enter
- take the dress on the counter 3x
- leave and go down to the docks (the guards won't notice you anymore)
- walk off the docks

CHAPTER 3: Lay of the Land

- leave MERCENARY CAMP
- go to CAPTURED PRINCESS
- exit and re-enter the screen until you see a CUTSCENE (Pooka dancing)

- go to SMALL POND
- use the bowl (if there is no bowl, exit and re-enter the screen)
- talk to the figure in the top right about everything

- go to ORCHARD
- try to open the locked shed
- go left to find HAVGAN
- call yourself Brann when talking to the druid
- ask the druid to do something for you
- open the druid's inventory
- use the key on yourself
- go to ORCHARD, use the key on the shed and enter
- grab the shovel
- use the shovel on the green vial
- give the key back to the druid
- enter the house behind the tree
- talk to the woman about everything (call yourself Brann again)
- go to ORCHARD
- take apples from the basket and go back to the woman
- dump the apples into the woman's couldron
- get more apples and dump them into the couldron
- take the bottle and use it on the couldron to receive a bottle of cider
- go to ORCHARD and pick up more apples (these you get to keep)
- go to ABANDONED COTTAGE
- pick up the bag and the glinting coin (if the coin isn't there, either exit and re-enter the screen a few times or walk around the world until you find it)

RANDOM EVENT:
- when you're leaving HAVGAN, a wizard will curse you
- you can trigger it by exiting and re-entering the ORCHARD to/from the north
- your mouse movement will be inverted
- go back to the druid and talk to him

- go to MERCENARY CAMP to see a CUTSCENE (Geraint looking for you)

- go to SCARECROW
- use the green vial on the vine on the wall
- use the vine to enter CARBONEK

- enter the tailor's shop
- take the cloak on the dresser (bottom left corner, only possible if you have the coin)
- leave
- go to the blackmith and talk to him about everything
- enter the tailor's shop to see a CUTSCENE (the Chancellor chiding the tailor)
- go to the castle to see a CUTSCENE (the princess and Geraint arguing)
- leave the castle and enter the jeweller's shop
- look at the small sign on the counter
- take the small sign
- leave
- enter the stables
- walk into the open stall on the right
- look at the stall to find a horseshoe
- leave
- leave the town by jumping off the docks
- swim to BEACH AT CLIFFSIDE
- pick up the shell
- swim back down to a beach or SHIPWRECK

CHAPTER 4: The Other Kingdom

This is the most complex chapter with the most cutscenes!
In this chapter, the quests don't follow a specific order. However, you should go to GOBLINS SITTING ON ROCKS first.


- go to GOBLINS SITTING ON ROCKS
- talk to the goblins
- give them the bottle of cider
- talk to the goblins again
- take the (glinting) reeds to receive the bottle

- go to MONASTERY
- use the tree
- take acorns
- enter the monastery
- say you seek shelter from the goblins
- use the empty bottle on the fountain to receive a bottle of holy water

- go to RAINBOW
- if fog appears, leave the screen in any direction
- talk to the figure on the rock
- the randomized solutions to the riddle are: Fire, River, Silence, Promise
- use your coins on the figure to reveal Pooka and talk to her

- go to MERCENARY CAMP
- talk to the mercenary cleaning a sword in the back of the camp to receive a rusty sword

RANDOM EVENT:
- the wizard will summon a Barghest beast at a random location (in my playthroughs, this event mostly triggered in the HOLE IN GROUND screen and the one north of SHIPWRECK)
- recommended ways to kill it:
run to MERCENARY CAMP
use holy water on it (if you have it)

- go to CARBONEK
- go to the tailor
- use your coins on the cup on the counter
- repeatedly return to the tailor until you have seen TWO CUTSCENES at his shop (the first features the princess, the second the Chancellor - if you see the Chancellor first, you missed the one with the princess and can't retrigger it!)

- go to the blacksmith
- give your sword to the blacksmith
- use your sword on the laithe
- repeatedly return to the blacksmith until you receive your polished sword and have seen TWO CUTSCENES (one features the stableboy, another features the tailor)

- go down
- talk to the merchant to receive a box of matches (upper right corner)
- go right
- enter the jeweller's shop
- repeatedly return to the jeweller until you see a CUTSCENE (beggar and jeweller)
- wait for a guard to enter
- repeatedly touch the showcase on the right to get thrown out of the city (which keeps your box of matches dry)

RANDOM EVENT:
- when entering the cliff screen of the jeweller's shop, the evil wizard will summon a storm
- use the fence

- go to SCARECROW to see a CUTSCENE (tailor and scarecrow)

- go to MERCENARY CAMP
- give the box of matches to Branwyn

- walk around until you see a squirrel in a tree
- use the acorns on the squirrel
- use the cloak on the squirrel
- walk around until you find a pidgeon on the ground
- take the pidgeon
- look at and use the pidgeon in your inventory to receive a note

- go to ORCHARD to see a CUTSCENE (woman and apprentice)
- go to HAVGAN
- use your coins on the well
- wish for good health for Branwyn
- give the squirrel to the druid
- give the pidgeon to the druid
- ask the druid to do something for you
- open the druid's inventory
- use the self-bored stone on yourself

- go to GOBLIN CAMP
- you can talk to the goblin chief about everything
- wait until it gets dark
- use the dagger on the cage
- take the iron rune from the tent
- use the river to escape
- DO NOT go back as you can only escape ONCE!

- go to SHIPWRECK or any other screen with sand
- use the empty bag on the sand to receive a bag of sand
- go to HOLE IN GROUND if you have a filled bottle (either with water from BRIDGE or holy water from MONASTERY if you didn't use the holy water to kill the Barghest)
- use the filled bottle on the hole to receive a comb
- go to GIANT'S HOME to see a CUTSCENE (goblin dropping crystal)
- say that he doesn't look so strong
- use the apples on yourself
- use the bag of sand on yourself
- use the bird on yourself

- go to CARBONEK
- go to the blacksmith
- the blacksmith shouldn't be there so take the goblin shield in the lower right corner
- if you have the goblin shield, go to the cliff at the jeweller's shop and drop the shield off the cliff
- go to the docks to see a CUTSCENE (blacksmith and apprentice)
- talk to the apprentice about everything
- if you dropped the shield off the cliff, jump off the docks
- swim to BEACH AT CLIFFSIDE
- take the goblin shield

- go to MONASTERY
- enter the library
- open the window
- ask the monk to do something for you
- use the top right book
- leave

- go to the screen north of ORCHARD
- take the tree stump to receive the raskovnik

- when you enter the crossroads screen from the south while walking around, you will eventually see a CUTSCENE (goblin and beggar)

- go to CARBONEK
- go to the docks
- give the raskovnik to the apprentice

If you have killed the Barghest, have the self-bored stone and your sword:
- swim to ISLAND
- take the brain in a jar
- use the self-bored stone to reveal a tower
- enter
- take the snake figurine from the bookshelf
- your mouse movement will be inverted
- use your sword on the crystal ball
- leave

- go to CARBONEK
- enter the jeweller's shop
- take the flute from main counter
- leave the town

- go to the crossroads screen (you will get knocked out)
- go to SHIPWRECK
- take the lantern
- look at the footprints
- use the ship 2x
- DO NOT MOVE!
- look at the net
- take the golden apple
- open the chest to receive the flute
- use the net
- talk to the beggar
ask why he doesn't have a proper job, if he has asked people in Havgan, offer to go talk to them

- go to HAVGAN
- enter the house behind the tree
- talk to the woman

- go to SHIPWRECK
- talk to the beggar
- use the iron rune on the beggar
- leave
- take the lockpicks from the ashes of the fire

- go to MERCENARY CAMP
- give the flute to Taliesin
- the melody will be randomized

- walk around until you find a raven in a tree with something glinting in its beak
- use the flute on yourself
- pick up the key

- go to MONESTARY
- climb through the open window on the right
- use the key on the display case to receive an ice orb
- climb through window

- go to SCARECROW
- give the brain to the scarecrow
- talk to the scarecrow
- take the pumpkin


Completing the following quest will end the chapter:

- go to FAIRY RING
- use the self-bored stone on the mushrooms
- use the flute on yourself

You are now in a crystal room with Pooka.
You have to pick 2 of the 6 items before you, each one opens a different kind of door:

Feather opens cloud doors
Bat wing opens night sky doors
Dragon scale opens fire doors
Mole claw opens stone doors
Shark tooth opens water doors
Leaf opens green doors

The solution to the puzzle is to bring the red, the yellow, the blue, and the green gems to the rooms of the same color.
DO NOT leave through the middle door in the room Pooka is in!

You can't save your game here but you can always start over by talking to Pooka which you might have to a few times to experiement with various combinations of items.

The best way to solve this is to draw a table on a piece of paper that looks like this:

Note down what doors are in which crystal room. Then look for the column that has only two kinds of doors so you know which two items are the best combination.

Once you've placed the last gem, you will be transported to THIERNA NA OGE

- give the shell to Pooka
- go to the right
- talk to the Seelie about everything
- go to the far left
- talk to the Unseelie
- win the game
- talk to the Unseelie about everything to receive an onyx gem
- leave

CHAPTER 5: First Strike

- go to THIERNA NA OGE to see a CUTSCENE (Pooka bullying Blossom)
- talk to Blossom the changeling
- DO NOT talk about his counterpart yet!
- give the comb to Blossom
- ask Blossom to do something for you
- open Blossom's inventory and use the comb on yourself
- tell Blossom you found his counterpart
- leave

- go to SHIPWRECK
- enter the shipwreck to see a CUTSCENE (the beggar and Blossom talking)

- go to CARBONEK
- enter the stables
- use the haystack to receive a love note

- go to THIERNA NA OGE
- go right
- give the love poem to the Seelie
- leave

- go to CAPTURED PRINCESS
- use the self-bored stone
- use the iron rune on the princess

- go to SMALL POND
- use the comb on the pond
- walk to BRIDGE and walk south
- when you hear someone approaching, hide behind a tree in the back
- when the coast is clear, go to HAVGAN

- enter the house on the left
- use the golden apple on the couldron
- take the goblin skull
- re-enter the house
- pick up the sleeping mouse
- use the comb on the mirror above the bed
- exit the house
- talk to the people

- go to MERCENARY CAMP
- give the goblin skull to Taliesin

- go to MONASTERY to see a CUTSCENE Branwyn leaving

- go to RAINBOW
- use the shovel at the rainbow's end to receive a pot of gold
- go to GIANT'S HOME to see a CUTSCENE (the Chancellor asking for help)
- give the pot of gold to the giant to receive a diamond

- go to THIERNA NA OGE
- give the pumpkin, the sleeping mouse, and the diamond to the Seelie to receive a glowing pumpkin

- go to CARBONEK
- enter the stables
- give the glowing pumpkin to the stableboy

- go to GIANT'S HOME
- ask the giant to take you to GOBLIN CAMP
- use the goblin skull on the goblins
- use your sword on the goblin chief
- use the onyx gem on yourself
- DON'T kill but talk to the goblin chief
- give the goblin skull to the goblins
- give the goblin shield to the goblins
- leave

CHAPTER 6: The Light of Truth

The game is pretty linear again from here on out.

- go to WATERFALL to see a CUTSCENE (Taliesen and Pooka)

- enter MONASTERY to see a CUTSCENE (the monk talking to the woman)
- leave
- climb through the window on the right
- use either the small key or the ice orb on the display case
- climb through the window
- enter through the door
- give the key to the monk

- go to THIERNA NA OGE
- use the dagger on yourself
- when the Seelie asks who the assassin is, reply:
Cailte the blacksmith
To have a stronger leader against the goblins
- give the piece of black cloth, Branwyn's dagger, and the note to the Seelie

- go to SHIPWRECK
- give the small sign to the beggar
- give the rope to the beggar
- go to CARBONEK (you can use the city gate now)
- enter the stables
- give the small sign to the stableboy (your rope will disappear from your inventory)
- go to SHIPWRECK
- talk to the beggar

- give the lockpicks to the beggar
- ask the beggar to do something for you
- open the beggar's inventory
- use the lockpicks on the jeweller's shop's door
- walk to the back
- use the horseshoe on the jeweller
- DO NOT go back to the jeweller for the rest of the game!

- go to CARBONEK
- go to the castle
- talk to the guard
- show the princess the Gem of Truth

CHAPTER 7: Point of View

- go to SCARECROW
- run down 2x
- run left 2x to SMALL POND
- use the lilypad

- go to HAVGAN
- talk to the druid
- go to FAIRY RING (do NOT cross the BRIDGE!)
- walk on the mushrooms counter-clockwise 3x
- agree to help

CHAPTER 8: End of the Line

- ask Branwyn to do something for you
- open Branwyn's inventory
- use matches on yourself
- use matches on lantern
- go right
- give Branwyn her dagger back
- ask Branwyn to do something for you
- use the dagger on the ladder
- climb the ladder and go up

- use the door on the right
- talk to the apprentice and question her both about the pact and her master's actions
- give your girdle to the apprentice
- use the door on the right
- use the stairs
- use the self-bored stone on the empty spot on the wall
- use the door
- either use holy water or the snake figurine (if you still have one of them) on the Barghest
- leave

- use the main stairs
- use the flute on yourself
- use the shovel or your sword on the middle statue
- use the crank

- you can talk to the evil wizard, just don't agree with him
- use the faerie chime on the wizard
- ask Geraint to attack the wizard with his sword
- ask Branwayn to toss her dagger at the charm

THE END

ALL FIVE ENDINGS

Evil Ending
After getting the Gem of Truth, do the quest to retrieve your girdle. Instead of throwing the horseshoe, throw the dagger at the jeweller. After the quest, go show the Gem of Truth to the blacksmith, thank them for killing the king and express your wish to join them.

Bad Ending 1
Wait for the screen to turn white when the Seelie offers you to stay in Thierna na Oge.

Bad Ending 2
Refuse to help when Geraint and the Chancellor ask for help at your camp.

Good Ending
Finish the game without having completed the Love Note quest.

Best Ending
Finish the game after having completed the Love Note quest.

I followed this guide exactly (with some minor corrections in the comments) and had chapter 5 start/trigger just before swimming to the island...?
So the goblins have taken over the village and I cannot talk to the lady inside. Hopefully this can be done once the village is freed again.

First of all, it is a tremendous guide...more so in these games with too many random events....some things that I have noticed:
.CHAPTER 4: The Other Kingdom

- In this part:
- go to GOBLINS SITTING ON ROCKS
- talk to the goblins
- give them the bottle of cider
- talk to the goblins again( here you get money by beating goblins at dice).
- take the (glinting) reeds to receive the bottle( You will see the bottle in a bush,
next to the bridge).

- go to the tailor
- use your coins on the cup on the counter
- repeatedly return to the tailor until you have seen TWO CUTSCENES at his shop (the first

- give the pot of gold to the giant to receive a diamond
Chancellor's cutscene asking for help must be triggered before attacking Havgar's
goblins, My recommendation is to do it after we tell Blossom that we have found her
counterpart and before the shipwreck cutscene.

- go to SMALL POND
- use the comb on the pond
- walk to BRIDGE and walk south
- when you hear someone approaching, hide behind a tree in the back
- when the coast is clear, go to HAVGAN. ( You need to come from the north, because
you could come following the river, the guard will not appear and you will lose wisdom
necessary to reach 100%).
