Viewmodel FOV
The bread-and-butter way of changing the look of your viewmodels onscreen.

This is the main CVAR that controls the FOV of the survivors weapons.
cl_viewmodelfovsurvivor

The value can be anything from 0 to 180, with 180 making the viewmodel completely invisible.
Going above 180 will flip the viewmodel vertically, not very useful.

Viewmodel FOV from 51 to 170

The default viewmodels were designed with the default FOV in mind, therefor widening your FOV will reveal areas of these viewmodel that was never intended to be seen. So expect to see "off camera" artifacts when using the default models at a much higher FOV.

Pistol reload "behind the scenes"

When using addons that replace viewmodels anything goes, they may be designed to look good at a variety of FOV's or have flaws just like the defaults.
GPU Driver Antialiasing and Anisotropic Filtering
The in-game Antialiasing[en.wikipedia.org] and Anisotropic Filtering[en.wikipedia.org] settings does not apply to your viewmodels, you need to enable these features manually for Left 4 Dead 2 in your GPU driver configuration.

Here is an example for maximum image quality, but even 2x MSAA should yield noticable results.

NVIDIA

AMD
Currently I have no example image, if you own an AMD GPU and can provide a screenshot of the correct settings don't hesitate to post it and I will update this section.
High-poly Viewmodel Arms (Addons)
In Left 4 Dead 2 viewmodel arms are completely separate from the weapon viewmodels.
The vanilla arms are pretty low-poly, especially noticeable on the fingers of certain cast members.

мяFunreal has made a collection of high-poly viewmodel arms for the survivors, compatible with mods that only change the survivor materials.

Minmode Viewmodels (Addons)
A vanilla friendly alternative to reduce the size of viewmodels on screen without changing your FOV.

This works by replacing your weapon viewmodels so it will be conflicting with any weapon addons.

Miscellaneous CVARs
The following CVARs are settings that affect the viewmodels in only certain situtations or in a smaller capacity, thus not warranting their own section.
