But anyway, as for graphic quality, I often look at new locations through the login screen or in the exploration window. There are always some new places being promoted and some people really know how to decorate their lands. Some can be pretty crappy, however, like they're using prim (primitive) items linked together instead of proper mesh items, so their place mostly looks like crap. My house in SL is 99% mesh everywhere so the place looks pretty cozy! I never received a single negative feedback about how I decorated my lands.

Yeah, the standard viewer is crappy. Firestorm Viewer is one of the best when it comes to features. And since you're into kinky stuff... -well, the standard viewer doesn't have RLVa (Restrained Love Viewer API) feature which is an option that allow people to control scripted objects remotely. Everything can be controlled or forced on someone who allows access. It can be to a specific user, to a group, or even open to public so anyone can do whatever they want. I use RLV sometimes to let anyone fiddle with outfits they want to see me wearing. I don't have to do anything. They access my online wardrobe and swap whatever they want. Some of my friends have much deeper RLV stuff, though.
