Lossless Scaling VS. Official FSR
Автор: rocket1714
Hi. I made this guide to show you the differences between Lossless Scaling's FSR(FidelityFX Super Resolution) and AMD's officially supported FSR.
I'll be using God of War to showcase these differences.

NOTE: Images are the result of the same exact resolution and upscale factor.

Observations and Conclusion
Official FSR and Lossless Scaling's FSR are extremely alike. I suppose which one you favor in this case is a matter of preference. Both FSR's are at the same quality setting; 720p being upscaled to 1080p(quality). And if you are wondering how they compete in terms of performance, they perform near identically. I may make a video showcasing the differences in live gameplay.

It's important to note that in Lossless Scaling, you have the option to change the sharpness. You don't have this option in God of War's official FSR. I left the setting at default as to be as accurate as possible.
Thank you for reading!

is it just me or do they all look the same?

this is still good app for games that run slow and don't support any scaling internally especially latest update for 7 dollars if your having frame rate or g sync issues its worth a try.

Yeah I realized this shortly after making the guide but I appreciate your help.

@rocket1714 ... Native FSR does a pass "before" UI elements meaning none of the text is affected and all the content of the image is optimal. Lossless is a post filter so all pixels on the screen regardless of what they are will be affected.

neat comparison, I wonderr how "optimized" setting holds up against native. I find it overly sharpens edges but greatly benefits performance as it's made for mobile apps. Maybe there's a sweetspot in sharpess %

What was the Lossless sharpness settings used? 7?

I actually compared this in the previous version of this post. I'm pretty sure Lossless Scaling did a lot worse job than FSR when it came to text. It looked very muddy in comparison.

What about texts, UI elements.
In my experience texts, maps, icons suffer the most from upscalling (or to be precise from initial low resolution).
Does official FSR use native resolution UI elements or it's just a filter for final image like Lossless Scaling?

Very interesting. I will check it out when I'm able.
