How to avoid the Russian(?)/Ukrainian(?) scammers/hackers
Por ✠KecskeShajt 🇭🇺🇯🇵
Many of us, and maybe you too experienced that Steam (and Discord and Second Life as well) are full of scammers. They are everywhere where the money is flowing and have a hope the get any money, or anything what they can sell for money.
It is very easy to see what is scam, yet a lot people fall for them, giving away their login data, then their accounts being used for other scams.

Who are they?
They aren't one organization, they can be just some stupid kid, but they can be even a bigger group with higher intelligence.
Russians deny that they are doing it, and say it is the Ukrainians.
Ukrainians deny it, and say it is the Russians.
It doesn't matter though.
What are their doing to scam you?
They have a lot ways:
Usually they will approach you with accounts that they already stole, so you can't avoid anything by saying: - I don't contact with any accounts that are new and low level!

One of the most common method is that they say they reported you (accidentally or not), even providing fake screenshots about you have a report on your profile. To avoid to get banned they are trying to make you contact with a (fake) Steam mod, who will take that of, of course for money.
How to avoid that?
Steam will never notice about you about being reported, and will never contact you through accounts, just through the support panel. Also Steam doesn't have "mods".
Similar method is when they say you get VAC, providing screeshot with that. That can be easily busted, others won't see that. If you can see, they hacked the VAC script the source code of the Steam page. That is not a real VAC, vy restarting your browser, it will disappear.
High-IQ VAC scam:
With this method they target accounts with new and real VAC bans, offering them to take off the VAC. It is a scam of course, but more people can fall in that.

Scams connected with Steam games (CSGO, TF2):
As you can sell drops from those games and they are popular, so a perfect target of the scammers.
Scam 1: they will say they are leaving Steam, so they are giving away their stuff. They redirect you to a fake Steam page with a fake storage, then later they will try to get money for those.
Fake trade: they will try to get you to trade your stuff freely, saying they will pay after that with other currencies, but they will just disappear.

Account stealing - connected of all the above ones:
They get a domain with very similar to steam.com, like steam.ru, stem.com, anything that you can mix with steam.
They copy every function from Steam, especially the login.
They will try to get you login there, lole for you mist verify yourself for a steam mod, or for get free stuff.
It is a very obvious scam, yet a lot people fall in that.
Cross-platform scams
Since a lot people connect Steam to other platforms, mostly discord, bigger scams became possible.
Discord is a safe heaven for scammers: they can freely share scemmer link in a lot groups, and the only thing that can happen that the stolen account will be deleted.
Discord is known for they don't give any customer service, even for people who pay.
Free nitro offer from Steam - two flies at once!
Many of them offer this from stolen accounts, copyimg Epic's offer, bit it's actually a scam, rhat will get both of your Steam and discord account stolen.
How to avoid these scams?
Unknown people won't throw their free stuff to you.
Don't trust anyone blindly.
Don't click to any links that are fake Steam accounts (russian or other unusual domain, typo in the links) .
Get scam detector extensions for your browser and to discord groups. Not a 100% efdective soulution, but can help you.
Phone confirmation can help too, if you don't just confirm anything blindly.
If you get VAC ban, only scammers will offer you to take that off. Steam will never take that off, though by rime rhey will disappear.
Your friends acting weird on Steam? They forgot to speak their languange? Possibly their account got stolen!
Of you have more contact than Steam, try them to verify them there, though as discord can be easily stolen with Steam.
Try to get people rather use Guilded.gg rather than discord.
Speak hungarian - to bust 99% of the scammers.
The trick is that obvious that nobody will realize.
Get the possible scammer to speak hungarian!
They will usually try in the effort to scam you, and they will fail, as they can't really speak. They don't have too high IQ, they will just try to use translators, and not even to english to hungaian, but russian to hungarian, making very funny results. Of course it works only if you can speak hungarian.
Legit people who are teying ro get you to be a scammer
Actually they exist. They act like your best friend then trying roinvolve you in their scam efforts. Usually to get revenge on others, even on you. Don't believe anything if rhey don't have any proof. Probably you don't want to be involved in any drama.

I can't determine which one are them, but the scammer pages are almost all time redirecting to Russian domains.
