Intro.
Greetings once again adventurers!
It's a journey out to the dangerous Fire Island off of the west coast of Allansia this time. The mad lizard king has kidnapped many young fishermen from Oyster Bay and is holding them as slaves in his mines on the island. The mission is to travel there, defeat the lizard king and free the slaves. Just the task for the Analand Sorceress!
There will be no assistance from the constellations in this part of Titan so there will only be swordplay here, and plenty of it....
Stats.
In adventurer mode the difficulty is only moderate, with a few tough battles here and there. With an initial skill of 10+ you should manage ok.

In hardcore hero mode the difficulty tariff of this adventure is finely balanced. It's not a cakewalk like some of the very early titles, but neither is it brutally difficult to the brink of impossibility like "Trial Of Champions". With optimum starting skill of 10, plus high stamina & luck you can make it thru.
Steam Achievements.
There are seven Steam achievements for this title.
Three are self-explanatory: Free-read win, Adventurer win & Hardcore Hero win. Simply follow this guide to complete the quest in each mode.

One of the other achievements, Well Seasoned, is also completed during this winning walkthru.
It is indicated in the guide where it occurs.

The remaining three are unlocked as follows:

Mungo, We Hardly Knew Ye
(You need to play the game more than once to unlock this one.)
The first time you play the game follow the main walkthru. After you have defeated the giant crab you will see Mungo die from his injuries.
The next time you start the game, go right to explore the inlet instead of scrambling round to the beach cove.
Attack the first two pirates: Sk 7 St 7 & Sk 8 St 6.
Defeat their captain: Sk 8 St 6.
Then you will see Mungo die from his injuries. (Again!) Witnessing both of his demises unlocks the achievement.

I Choose You!
Follow the main walkthru until you reach the start of the chapter "Search For The Shaman." Then instead of walking overland, continue to journey by raft.
Take a luck test to see if you contract malaria and if you survive this scenario, you encounter a water elemental.
Try to use your pouch of unlimited contents. Take a luck test. If you pass it you capture the water elemental, unlocking the achievement.

Shoulda Put A Ring On It
Follow the main walkthru until you get to the shaman. Then ignore the guide and choose the test of revulsion. As you do not have the ring of confusion you will fail his test and this should unlock the achievement.
(There are other places in the game where the outcome of an encounter is affected by whether or not you have the ring of confusion, but i think it is this one that the achievement relates to. Please let me know in the comments section below if you have found otherwise. Thanx!)
Fire Island Jungle.
In this adventure i suggest taking the potion of strength, in Adventurer and Hardcore Hero mode. There are several very tough battles ahead which will likely deplete your stamina, whereas you should manage to collect enough bonus luck points here and there to keep your luck score reasonably high.

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to produce this guide. IOTLK has always been one of my favourites and now I may actually be able to complete it. Also, thanks a lot for the tips on achievements. I am new to playing FF gamebooks on STEAM and had no idea about them.
Always Best Regards.

I didn't realised that, as i hadn't played "IOTLK" before this release.
"Snow Witch" has had significant down-skilling in the "Classics" release. I have detailed these changes in the "Classics" guide, as compared to the "Standalone" guide. :TalismanSorceress:.

Hello again Sorceress! Thank you for another fun and detailed guide! Fun fact: I own a physical copy of this book and, did you know that the crab in the begining used to have 10 SK? A hard fight right off the bat lol. Thank god it got nerfed! See you in the other guides!
