The board is 2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2, 8 dimensions

The rainbow colored board is a heat map showing the distance from the bottom left corner to the top right corner on a full 8d board. The black and white image is a 6d board. 4 6d boards are used to make one 8d board.

Pawns move 1 orthogonal dimension

Bishops must move 2 different orthogonal directions

Knights 3

Rooks 4

Queen 1 or 2

King 1

The king is limited to the 6 dimensional cube (one of the four boards) that it starts on.

I recommend you use dice to mark the squares your moves go through.

A potential move for a white knight, and also a black rook are shown this way to illustrate.
