retro-visor's Project 'ORION'

Beschreibung
from August 2021 to January 1st 2022, this is the results of me being told to do 3D models of Orion spacecraft as proof of concepts, and this is the end of it (for now!)

The Addon features 12 types of Nuclear Pulse Propulsion (PROJECT 'ORION') controllable spacecraft for the Flight Simulator portion of the game

-The 'N' Series-
From start to finish, the N series were the ones I started with. They follow the basic set of guidelines, and the process of me learning new tools through out the months is the most noticeable.

--The 'Planetary' Series-
One-of-a-kind type of vessel, using a modular look similar to near future technologies of space hardware, like ISS and Lunar Gateway, with an Orion-type propulsion at the back.

--The 'Interstellar' Series-
The last few of the series. The core of the design is a two-sided Orion propulsion, both at the rear and at the front. The idea came with it being Interstellar, so the pusher plate works as a dust shield, and the ship does not need to rotate for deceleration.

Special Mention: The 'Death Star'
Death Star is the last one I made, finished December 30th, 2021. The joke here is that its 1.8km in size, uses Antimatter as explosive thrust, and its big enough for a shuttle to get into the hangar bays. Its absurd, just like the Death Star.

All the 3D modeling was made by myself, and I'm damn proud about it

Out of curiosity, do you think you may do an update where the Planetary Orion's docking adaptors function?

maybe

My favorite historical spaceship.

Also salute to another reader of ProjectRho :D

I am quite new to the flight sim part of this, do the orion engines actually pulse or is it just the usual big blue welder plasma flame cone thing most of the vessels use in this game?

Real interstellar travel (within the bounds of well understood physics) does not involve warp drives. It involves the use of real-space engines, such as this and Daedalus.

these models are awesome, but i have one issue: the interstellar ships don't have a warp drive
is this a bug or is there something im missing?

Damn, these models are really good! I tried making an Orion Battleship in Blender a few months ago, but I clearly have a long way to go.

@ettore.bilbo The spherical shape of the ship makes it especially well-suited to using a detachable shield; a shield that covers the forward section of the ship during powered flight would also cover the ship as it rotated. That doesn't quite apply to the non-spherical one, but it would cover most of the ship's central section during the turnaround. Anyway, the odds of any debris hitting the vessel during a maneuver lasting single-digit minutes is extremely remote (and with a detachable shield even that unlikely event is prepared for).
