HNLMS De Ruyter

Here is the unique light cruiser De Ruyter of the Royal Netherlands Navy.


HNLMS De Ruyter was a light cruiser built for the Dutch Navy to aid the previous Java-class cruisers in the Dutch East Indies. She was commissioned before the outbreak of WW2. Since the Dutch East Indies was vulnerable to an invasion by the Japanese, she would spend her entire career warding of the Japanese Navy. She participated in the Battle of Bali Sea, where she was damaged by air attacks. She was repaired and fought in the Battle of Badung Strait. During the Battle of the Java Sea, she was commanded by Rear-Admiral Karel Doorman and his flag captain Eugene Lacomble, and was flagship of the "American-British-Dutch-Australian" fleet. The fleet was surprised by 2 Japanese cruisers, Nachi and Haguro. Torpedoes from the 2 cruisers were fired, and they hit De Ruyter and the cruiser Java. Java sank, and few minutes later, a torpedo hit De Ruyter, disabling the ship's electrical systems, and the crew were unable to combat the fires and flooding, and she sank taking 367 of her crew, including Admiral Doorman and Captain Lacomble. Her wreck, and other ships sunk during the Battle of the Java Sea were found in 2002, and 2 bells from De Ruyter were salvaged and put on display. In 2016, the wrecks of De Ruyter and other warship wrecks in the area have disappeared due to illegal salvaging.


My first time trying to port a WoWs model (and boy was it difficult!) I found this model available on Sketchfab, so I ported this to replace the old version of the model (which was from Silent Hunter).

-Download Buoyancy Tool, and set the value to what ever you want.


The model is also realistically scaled, so use Collision Resizer if you are in a small map.
