So this is more of a resource for those interested in creating their own custom Doodle survivors for the mods in the collection above. In the files I'm providing you'll be able to either make a skin pack override mod or you can simply use my compiling files for your own creative choices.

The Material Override feature has much of the same name system as in the default files, for example 'Namvet' will equal Bill and 'Gambler' will equal Nick and so on.

With that said if you were to make an Ellis mod
  • you would need to the 'Project Folder'
  • then navigate to Materials/Doodles and delete all the folder except Mechanic.
  • replace the 2 VTFs in the Mechanic folder with your custom doodles.
  • Turn the Project Folder into a VPK and upload
  • Then on the mod's page go to "Add/Remove Required DLC"

  • Select Doodle (Ellis) Base from your favorites or subscribed tab
  • Pat yourself on the pack and have a cupcake
Project Files
This package will contain 3 of the following things

PNG template
  • Copy of the template image
Compiling Files
  • The files I used to create my doodle survivors
Project Folder
  • Folder containing the TVFs, VMTs, Addon.txt, and the folder pathing you need for a simple skin override mod.

Template
Pretty simple self explained template.
  • Draw in the white areas
  • Dotted lines are where the character will bend it's limbs
  • Orange lines are cut off points
VMT settings
So within the VMTs it's important to keep the following commands if you chose to alter anything

$alphatest "1"
For transparency
$nocull "0"
To prevent Z-Fighting and to stop back lighting
$nodecal "1"
To prevent broken blood overlays
Last Words
So hope you all have fun with this little mod. Feel free to share your art/mods in the comments below you make from this. Can't wait to see what madness and nifty things you all will make. ta ta for now

Here's a collection of what I have found from the community

there's one specific flat 2d character that nobody has made with this, which i'm kinda surprised about since they'd be easy to draw and it fits the base perfectly... i'm gonna have to see if i can use this guide to learn how to make that character. i tried going through the guide for how to do regular full models, but it was way too complicated for me. from the looks of the stuff on this page, even this might be too much for me.

Hey Nutbean, if you used the provided template as your base drawing, you need to remove it before saving. Depending on the program you used to draw your doodle, the best way to make a doodle is to create a new completely transparent layer above the template and draw on there, fill in with color, etc. Then once you're done, disable or delete the layer with the template lines and keep only the one with your actual doodle (which should be just lines and colors with transparency everywhere else around it) and export that as a PNG or TGA which you can then use to convert to VTF.
