Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my guide on Krautscape. It is assumed that at this point you have some basic knowledge of gameplay, if not, this guide is probably not for you. Anyways, this is really just a collection of strategies I've discovered in my play that may be helpful to those starting out.
Pathfinding
In Krautscape, shortcuts are oftentimes the easiest way to get ahead in a race. With this said, here are some quick pointers for finding the optimal route to your destination. Some of these may seem obvious, but are quite important.

- ALWAYS KEEP AN EYE ON THE DESTINATION MARKER. There's no point in racing down a track if it's not one that points towards the end of the path. It's suprising how often many people lose games just because they focus too much on progressing linearly down the path they're on.

- Don't go through boost clouds if they're too far out of the way. It's useless to get a speedup if you're going much farther to do so. The clouds can be extremely useful but only in the right situations, more on this below.

- When you're about to make a jump, if possible line up a cloud between you and your destination. This seems obvious, but many hastily careen off the side of a track without considering the optimal route.

- If you're in the lead, adapt your route based off of who you're playing against. If you're a half decent flyer playing against novices, feel free to use lots of curves, creating a dense, jump-filled network that will favor someone with your skillset if you happen to fall behind. If you're playing against more skilled players, play a less risky, but harder to recover from falling behind in game by avoiding curves or going straight by powering forward in the middle lane while taking short jumps over obstacle markers.
Obstacles
Obstacles can prevent you from blazing down tracks in Krautscape, but thankfully, they can almost always be avoided. Here are some tips on how to do so.

General

- Few realize that almost all of the time, flight can be used to avoid obstacles, and is, in fact, almost always faster than braking to drift or taking a sharp turn. Many of the below tricks involve flight.

Windmills

- If you're not in first, you can oftentimes avoid windmills by flying over or to the side of them. This is also often faster than all of the below methods.

- Notice that the windmills in Krautscape do not reach cars in the red track area. If you can, swerve to one of these sides to avoid the windmills.

- If you're having trouble, you can fly around through the back of the windmill's gate to continue the track.

Loops

- If the loop has already been placed, and was placed by the person in first place, and isn't after a jump, use the black boost line where the loop token was for a bit of speed to go into the loop, which can oftentimes save you.

- If you're not in first place, you can always avoid loops by flying through them to the road ahead.

- If everyone's stuck on a loop, take a wide, high flight curve around to the back and drop through the gate down onto the track.
Flight Technique
Flight, one of the mechanics that distinguishes Krautscape mechanically from many other arcade racing games, is definitely one of the hardest parts of the game to master. Here I will explain some guidelines that you can use to point yourself in the right direction - literally.

- Look before you leap. This is probably the most important piece of advice in this section. Don't fly because it's cool. Don't fly because you have a lot of speed. Fly because you have somewhere to go, and that somewhere is not as easily accesible by road. Remember that flying is slow compared to driving, so you shouldn't always do it if driving means only a slight detour.

- Don't always be trying to gain altitude. Gliding means going farther with less momentum, and since you can't boost in the air unless you have a cloud, preservation of energy is important.

- If you're used to divebombing then popping back up, gaining speed in the process from a game such as Batman : Arkham City, no matter how hard you try, you can't do this in Krautscape. Diving in the air is almost never useful, except for when landing.

- Sometimes, flight can be used as a faster way to turn when you're at too high a speed to make a normal turn on the track. This doesn't always work, but when it does, it can save you from having to loop back around.
Wrapup
I hope this (incomplete) advice has been helpful. I'll be updating this guide soon - if you have any reccomendations, leave them in the comments, please!
