IMPORTANT WARNING PER IVANTHEWOLF
I wanted to mention, you need to update your links in this thread for Polaris drivers, you need to specifically find the "21.12.1" driver. 22.x.x drivers all have issues with the game on Polaris.

All Radeon drivers past the one I mentioned decrease performance on Polaris even further than it already is, and introduce driver crashing that is unavoidable.
-all credit goes to IvanTheWolf and expect updated links in the future so that you don't need to go digging around the archives for this driver
Prerequisites
First and foremost, this guide applies to old AMD GPUs like the R9 380, R9 390, R9 290, R9 Fury, RX470/480, and RX 570/580/590.
This guide will enable you to play the open world campaign at 30 fps for the most part. One thing to keep in mind is that this game is bugged to max out your CPU if you uncap the fps or have it above 120.
In smaller campaign missions you can set the fps limit to 60 because they run WAY better than the open world.

PSA for R9 GPU owners: You will need modded drivers to run this game, link below. In addition, your GPU MUST support at least DX12 Feature level 12_0. This can be verified by running GPU-z

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/driver-mod-amernime-zone-modded-radeon-21-12-1-whql-gcn-legacy-pack-released.436611/

If you have reservations about using modded drivers, please see this youtube video and decide for yourself whether or not it's worth it, I've had zero issues in the 3 months I've had them installed.

Installation guide below:
Uninstalling HD Texture pack for better performance
In order to uninstall the HD textures from the Steam version, scroll down to the DLC box on the right in the Halo Infinite Library Page and Uncheck HD textures.
For the Xbox app version, please see the pictures below to get an idea of how to do it.
Driver Settings
Got the latest AMD optional Drivers or Nimez Modded Drivers? No? Get them here!

You want 21.12 optional drivers[www.amd.com]

Got them? Good. Let's move on.

Key point to keep in mind is that Radeon Settings cannot make a profile for the Xbox App version of Halo Infinite, so you WILL have to set settings globally.

Settings for the Steam version below

Settings for the Xbox App Version below, do keep in mind that these are global settings and will apply to every game, so turn it on and off before starting the game.

Radeon Sharpening helps IMMENSELY with this game at low res.
Halo Infinite Graphics settings
First and foremost, THIS IS A BUGGY GAME!
If you don't have an FPS cap it will max out your CPU! If you set it from windowed to fullscreen and back it will lag out!

If you change settings in game and try to play, it will bug out and lag after a while so restart your game after any setttings are changed!

In addition, it's VERY cpu heavy. I have to keep almost all apps closed on my i7 2600k to play this game, so keep that in mind.

Moving on, some RX 400/500 users have reported that their game will crash with Async Compute enabled. I have not verified this and recommend it is left on. If it does crash for you with it on, turn it off.

Final thing you should know: The xbox app has vastly better load times than the Steam version.

PSA: UNINSTALL THE HD TEXTURE PACK IN DLC.

Settings below.

Go to UI and disable these items.

Go to video and mimic these settings. Yes, I'm aware the FOV sucks but it's the only way it was consistent for me.

Set Sharpening to 60-80%

Remember: ALWAYS restart the game after changing ANY graphics settings.
Putting pressure on AMD/343 Industries to fix this
AMD's optimizations on the RX 470/480/570/580/590 are so bad that as of right now it is being outperformed by Nvidia GPUs that are almost half as powerful in campaign! See the video below for yourself at the 2 hour 15 minute mark in the video

I implore everyone with an RX 470/480/570/580 to file support tickets about the unusually low performance in the driver suite using the AMD Bug Report tool. Instructions here[www.amd.com]

In addition, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE file a ticket with Halo Waypoint support as well. In order to do so click on any of the "Known Issues" and then scroll to the bottom of the page
Link Here[support.halowaypoint.com]

Also weigh in at these threads on Halo Waypoint and AMD:
Halo Waypoint RX 500 low fps thread[forums.halowaypoint.com]

AMD Forum Polaris/RX500-400 low performance thread[community.amd.com]

THE MORE USERS COMPLAIN THE BETTER THE CHANCES WE'LL GET IT FIXED!

Please report if you have any issues and take care!

Please take a look at my (very lazy) old guide on how to get the game running on unsupported GPUs!

According to Amernime of NimeZ driver fame, he claimed it's a repackaging of the final 21.5.1 legacy drivers released last year, which means that DX12 binary (which is the only thing that affects performance for Halo Infinite) is identical to the Infinite Beta era DX12 optimization/binary, which was pretty bad compared to the latest up to date version Nimez includes.

Well very quickly after I posted this, I noticed a Legacy GPU driver released for their older GPUs (22.6.1), do these work for Infinite? I'm not able to test as I don't have an R9/Fury GPU.

Thanks for the heads up! I was waiting for a stable version of those drivers to come out (on 22.5.2 myself) but any performance increase is welcome in this dumpster fire of a game is welcome, especially for those who still dream of playing campaign coop at some point.

@Rage
I know this is a bit random, but I wanted to mention I tried the (unstable beta) NimeZ modded driver on my RX 580, and that's seemingly fixed my Async Compute option not working in Infinite, and has given me a somewhat large performance boost, bringing me to reaching 30fps consistently (with dynamic resolution) at 1080p - so drops to 900p, on medium - high settings with async compute enabled, coming from 24 - 28fps on the same settings before.

Short version, it's still bad, it's still abysmal...but on the NimeZ Beta driver on my RX 580, I'm now performing a bit better than the Xbox One, instead of far below.

Hey Diablo, heads up, in later Nimez Radeon drivers the dev unlocked something called AMD Hypermemory, which, get this, lets you use system ram as VRAM!!!!!!!
Just took it to the test maxing out Deus Ex Mankind Divided and it worked like a charm, can't wait for my quad channel ram system to come in so I can really put it to the test.

thanks for the heads up, life's been nuts and I dropped the game completely due to performance issues so I would probably have never picked up on this. Will update the guide soon.
