Story Mode + Collectibles
The 1st stage will be the discovery stage : play the story mode normally, on the difficulty you prefer, while collecting all the Golden Laurels.

Golden Laurels are the only kind of collectible in the game, and will let you change both heroes' costumes if you get all of them in each stage. Missing a Golden Laurel isn't much of a big deal, since every level can be replayed as much and as soon as you wish.

stage 1 - Gaul
Gaul is the very first stage of the game. It will introduce you to most of the game mechanics despite being the 2nd shortest stage in the game.

stage 2 - Normandy
Normandy is the second stage of the game. It will introduce you to most of the game puzzles, most of them being torch ones.

stage 3 - Greece
Greece is the third stage of the game

stage 4 - Helvetia
Helvetia is the fourth stage of the game - it tends to be on the easier side, thanks to its many skippable battles and generous amounts of magic potions. It is a milestone stage because it's the one introducing the Twister combo to the merchant's shop.

stage 5 - Egypt
Egypt is the fifth stage of the game.

stage 6 - Rome
Rome is the final stage, with the longest and most intense fights in the game. Including the infamous 1000 enemies fight, despite technically being the shortest stage in the game in terms of length. Twister becomes a true life saver, as it considerably increases your chances of succeed.

Fortunately, a glitch from the original version is still in the remaster, and let you skip 80% of the stage.
Once you enter the first arena, stick to the left as much as you can, and hit the button. The battle will trigger anyway, but the other arena doors will stay open, thus letting you skip the rest of the level until the final boss.
Time and Courses trials
Trials are a new addition in this remaster - during your playthrough, you'll be able to interact with steles, thus starting the trial. You will need to obtain a gold medal on all trails.

They are basically little courses split in two categories:
Courses will scatter a bunch of coins you'll have to collect by switching between Classic and Remastered modes, in a limited time
Time Attack is very similar to Crash Bandicoot relics trials. You can break boxes to freeze the timer by the same number of seconds written on the box and defeat an enemy to freeze the timer for one second. Your best strategy will be to use your combo attacks to defeat several enemies at once.

You'll always come across 3 Trials per stage : two Courses and one Time Attack. Getting the Gold medal for each of them might take a few tries, as some Gold times are pretty tight and will require some practice.

It has been found that Courses trials are more challenging as you cannot "cheese" them, contrary to Time Trials. Indeed, once you purchase the Twister combo, Time Attack trials become kind of a breeze as you can wipe lots of enemies, saving you TONS of time. Knowing that, it's a good idea to start this part right after finishing the game.

Extreme Mode
Best way to describe this mode is an unusually cheap type of difficulty that will mostly test your patience and spatial awareness more than your actual skills. Enemies kill you in 4 or 5 hits, block MOST of your attacks, recover lightning-fast from their stun, and for the cherry on top : your COMBO gauge depletes way faster than usual, which makes landing combo attacks an absolute chore. No need to say that this is the hardest step in the game.
Cleanup
Congrats for going through this! Now sit back, relax, and collect the remaining miscellaneous achievements you might be missing!

This stage is completely optional, as you might have already got all the achievements during the first two stages of this guide.

What is the one missable achievement?.

Thanks for the reply :) I ended up restarting the game anyway because of a bug in Normandy that prevents you from collecting a golden laurel. I finished it on normal, but man, this is such a mediocre game. Won't bother going for the remaining achievements.

I don't think so. If the game didn't save, it shouldn't bbe affected, either way the Normal achievement should be earned when you complete it on extreme mode later.

I was playing on Normal difficulty but changed it momentarily to Easy to see if a certain challenge becomes any easier. Without the game saving, I changed it back to Normal. Does that affect the beating on normal achievement?
