Installing everything.
After buying and installing Blood II you will need to install a couple more files to help the game run properly in higher resolutions.

First you will need dgvoodoo2: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2/

Second you will need a patch for the executable that supports high resolutions: http://dege.freeweb.hu/Patches/patches/

One you download those extract the files. right click on blood II in your steam library, under manage you should see "browse local files" click this and it will pull up the blood II folder.

Then go to the dgvoodoo2 folder and select dgvoodoocpl.exe and dgvoodoo.conf and copy them over into the folder with game files and exe's

Now go back to the dgvoodoo2 folder and open the MS folder. Inside this folder there are 3 seperate folders. "arm64" "x64" and "x86" Open the folder titled "x86" and there you will copy 2 files, D3Dlmm.dll and DDraw.dll. just like the previous files just copy them into the same folder as the exe's. like so.

Finally go to the Blood2respatch folder and copy over the client.exe that is in this folder.

Now all these files are in your blood II directory we can now configure everything

Configuring everything and launching the game
Now that everything is installed we will need to change a few settings in dgvoodoo2 and in the games launcher before we can continue. So open up dgvoodoocpl.exe and change these settings.
In the general tab under Output API select Direct3D 12 (Feature level 11.0)

Next in the DirectX tab select whatever number of vram you choose. I will be using 4096 MB

Next change the resolution to 1920x1080 239hz or whatever your desired resolution will be and select the settings "Force vSync" and "Fast video memory access"

Also note that you should cap your framerate at 60 fps in the nvidia control panel as well.

Now that dgvoodoo is setup we can close that and now launch the games launcher and go to display settings. set the resolution to your desired resolution. for renderers select d3d.ren and under display select dgvoodoo directX wrapper

Now go to the advanced settings, under disable select " disable fog." Under enable, select everything except for " enable single-pass multi-texturing. "

Finally if you would like to select any level from the games main menu under the command line type " +enableretaillevels 1 " and click " always specify these command line parameters. "
Now click ok and you can launch the game.
Troubleshooting
Now some issues you may encounter while trying to launch the game. If the game boots in a blank black window and then crashes one way to resolve this is if you have a wireless headset, unplug the USB dongle and then launch the game. If it launches fine you can wait for the game to load it and plug the headset back in so you have sound.

This is what I mean by it loading up in a black window

Also if the game loads up fine but its in a small window that freezes up your mouse movement you can alt + tab and then select the blood II nightmares executable. click back on whatever you had open behind that and it will minimize the Blood II exe. Now you can open up the game by clicking on it in your task bar and it will now be fullscreen.

Yea it sucks Dalton but unless it's an overpriced remaster most of its like this in these classics. Does anyone know why I'm getting a bright black and white screen on the main menu? I got everything else working fine but this title is impossible to navigate. I can barely see anything. In games perfect tho.

Fuck, you buy a game and have to fix it for the lazy devs.

I hope this works for you! If Not, try changing VooDoo Settings, re-check the steps above (Craig Knapp 10MAR2024).

A Troubleshooting note: The videos can be turned off by renaming this file:
Monolith.smk
I renamed it to
MonolithX.smk
...be sure to rename it back to Monolith.smk once you have completed troubleshooting.

Also, if you are still having issues, Google DXWrapper and try that, though I did not need it (Craig Knapp 10MAR2024).

From the Launcher Main Screen:

Select NIGHTMARES to play the game.

Before selecting Single Player, select the OPTIONS in the game, map your keyboard, leave the JOYSTICK OFF, then select OK or get to the Main Menu to CLOSE the GAME...Rember one of the steps above about the AutoExec.cfg file wanting to change the resolution to 320x240 on each startup? CLOSE THE GAME, go to the Game's installed folder and set the AutoExec.cfg file to READ ONLY or WRITE Protect!

Now launch the game again and have at it! If you need to make in-game changes to keyboard etc., close the game, turn off the READ ONLY or WRITE PROTECT the AutoExcec.cfg file, then launch the game, select DISPLAY and your desired settings from above, enter the game, select OPTIONS, Keyboard, save or Exit the GAME, and turn on WRITE PROTECT or READ ONLY for the AutoExcec.cfg file and launch the game again.

FINALLY, START THE GAME!!!

By using the file:
Launch Blood II - The Chosen
...right-click the file, select SEND TO\Desktop as Shortcut

The Launcher should open within seconds, NOT minutes as I originally encountered.

Select DISPLAY:
Renderers, select LithTech Direct3D Renderer (d3d.ren)
Displays, select Primary Driver (Display) or the name of your video card..

Resolutions: I selected 1920x1080x16 to match my VooDoo Settings above!

Select CUSTOMIZE:
Select, Disable FOG
For ENABLE, enable all EXCEPT the Enable single-pass multi-texturing

Optional, to see all levels for selection when launching the game,
add this to the Command Line Box.
+enableretaillevels 1
...be sure to check the ALWAYS SPECIFY these Command.... box
...I (Craig Knapp 10MAR2024) did NOT enter this command line.

From the Launcher Main Screen:
Select NIGHTMARES Add On, In Single Player Mode, NIGHTMARES Expansion appear ABOVE Caleb.

Select OK.

One Time BATCH *.bat file to force use of only 1 Processor on multi-processor modern Computers. (wonder if it works for ST KHG?, will try later!).

Create a text File *.TXT, I kept it at 8 characters (like DOS) just in case, in the Game's Installed folder, I named it onetime.txt

Add this commanded to the new blank TXT file just created (edit the path to your Blood2 Installed Folder:

"@echo off cd E:\Games\Blood II - the ChosenB\blood2.exe start /affinity 1 Blood2.exe exit"

Save the TXT file and CLOSE it.

Rename the file to *.bat extension, in my case, renamed it to: onetime.bat

Run the new *.bat file ONCE by double-clicking it.

REBOOT THE COMPUTER....after running the *.bat file! DO IT NOW!!

The Peixoto Patch at:
https://www.patreon.com/user/about?u=44312848

I (Craig Knapp) clicked on ABOUT, selected DOWNLOAD CURRENT VERSION to get PEIXOTO.ZIP, downloaded and unzipped it into my software folder (a location I use to store installation, patches\fixes, and other software related files. Once unzipped, from the PRROGRAM folder I copied this file to the game's installed folder:
Blood2.ini 2.6kB 3/10/2024 12:25:37PM

The user needs to copy the Blood2.ini file to the game's installed folder, then edit this *.ini file to reflect the Installed Game Folder, for me Craig Knapp 10MAR2024):

Target=E:\Games\Blood II - The ChosenB\Blood2.exe

Save and Close the Blood2.ini file.

I did not try the cheat files.
