By Steve33RUS
How to increase your climbing distance - for new players, and what to do after the campaign is finished (my personal suggestion) - for old players.

A GUIDE THAT NOBODY ASKED FOR
"Dude, come on, you're not going to explain how to (spoiler alert)upgrade stamina using chum eggs, are you?"

"Dude, why would I even bother about that roof, when i know that (spoiler alert)there’s probably nothing there - i've managed to get all the achievements without climbing onto it?"

- If those are the questions that have popped in your head after reading the title of this guide, then it's okay, because I was just about to answer them.

The answer to the first question is pretty simple: no, I am not.

To the second question, however, i've got for you not one, but three different not-that-straightforward answers:
  • First of all, as you can read in the description - this is just my suggestion about what you could do after completing the game. You know how it happens sometimes: you’ve finished the campaign of some really cool game, and feel like that’s not enough. So, eventually - you end up by unlocking all the achievements and looking for some secrets, bugs or ways how to get outside the map.

  • Secondly - (spoiler alert)there is a clan of "Climbers" In the Sable’s lore, and the main goal in life of members of this clan is to climb onto such a peak that no one else could. We will meet several of them throughout the game, and each of them will challenge us - will WE be able to climb onto THEIR peak? So, pushing the boundaries of Sable’s lore beyond the in-game characters - I challenge YOU, will YOU be able to climb onto MINE?😉🤚 And if I'm just a joke to you (which I do not mind actually) - consider this challenge as a way to make this game even more immersive; as a way to truly feel yourself like a Sable, if you will.

  • And at last - (spoiler alert)yes, there is indeed nothing on The Whale’s roof that is needed to get any of the achievements. However, if some of the developers found this guide and actually decided to put something there - wouldn’t THAT be cool? Because then YOU, my dear reader, once stumbled upon a Reddit post titled: "Sable Iceberg Explained” - will be able to proudly reply in the comments: "I haven't heard of anything below the second (third, fourth, ...) level, exept for the "Whale louse" achievement. ACTUALLY, I WAS ONE OF THOSE, BEACAUSE OF WHOM IT WAS CREATED ☝😎”.

PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION
Before climbing onto The Whale’s roof, you're gonna have to fulfill these two conditions:

  • READ THE FOLLOWING PRO-TIP. If you already knew what I'm about to tell you - congratulations, it turns out that you were already a pro-climber.

  • COMPLETE A CERTAIN STAGE OF THE GAME. More specifically - (spoiler alert)
bring 100 Chum Eggs to Queen Chum (pump your stamina to it’s maximum).

As you may have noticed, THE SECOND CONDITION IS A SPOILER, therefore I HAVE TO WARN ALL NEW PLAYERS:

  • Guys, THE PRO-TIP IS THERE FOR YOU, but AFTER READING IT - PLEASE CLOSE THIS GUIDE! Otherwise, YOU MIGHT RUIN YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE!

  • You can COME BACK HERE WHENEVER YOU FEEL THAT YOU ARE READY, and read the rest of the guide (which otherwise I will also have to turn itno a "Snowden's FBI case").

THE PRO-TIP
So, I bet that each of you at least once has been in this situation: your stamina bar is almost empty - but the end of the wall you are climbing is still far away. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to climb such a wall - most likely, you leave in disappointment, permanently adding this place to your personal "blacklist".

But what if I told you that actually, at least half of those places got on this "blacklist" not because it's really impossible to climb there - but simply because you are doing it the wrong way?

Well, HERE'S THE PRO-TIP for you guys, how to do it properly:

  • WHILE CLIMBING THE WALL, INSTEAD OF HOLDING THE W (A, S, D) BUTTON – TRY PERFORMING QUICK SEPARATE CLICKS, ABOUT ONE THIRD OF A SECOND EACH.

This will reduce the speed of your climbing, but also - significantly icrease it's distance (by approximately 40%), and eventually - make your "blacklist" much shorter 😏👌.

And before moving on to the next topic - here, of course, is a video proving the effectiveness of this technique:

UPDATE: THE PRO-S-MAX™ TIP
Well, there is always a bigger fish, right?

So, our fellow climber named guiLe (you can find him in the comments section of this guide) found another technique, that allows you to climb not only higher - but also faster, way faster!

Basically, here's what you need to do:

  • HOLD W TO START CLIMBING, BUT BEFORE THE WALLRUN ANIMATION ENDS - CUT IT AND REPEAT OVER AND OVER AGAIN BY ALTERNATIVELY TAPPING SPACE AND W.

This obviously has some disadvantages (I’ll cover them further), but apart from them, again - increases the distance AND the speed of your climbing AT THE SAME TIME☝😎.

Disadvantages or “Why would I still need Standard and PRO techniques?” :
  • This technique won't work on walls that you need to climb upside down (or basically any walls that are tilted towards you) - they don't trigger the wallrun animation.

  • It only works for vertical movement (obviously, because of the direction of the wallrun animation).

  • You can’t stop during the climbing process (to change the direction of movement or simply by a missclick) - the wallrun animation will be finished, and you won’t be able to trigger it again.

Despite all of that, currently - this is the best way to climb a wall in the game, and thank you very much @guiLe for sharing it with us!!!

Here's the video, of course:

THE WHALE'S ROOF
Alright, so there is pretty much nothing to discuss at this point, and the only thing i have to say is that THE SPOILERS START FROM HERE.

With that said - let's get down to business.

  • I guess you all know where The Whale is located, but just in case:

  • You will need to get inside of it, in my case I used this entrance:

  • Firstly, get onto this platform:

  • You can use this elevator (If you have activated it before):

  • Or those ones (If you haven't):

  • Once you're on that platform - climb this ladder:

  • And then, using the second ladder - get onto the upper platform:

  • Now that you are here, jump - and fly on to those exposed support beams right there:

  • A screenshot to make sure that those who won't read my annotations - won't get lost:

  • And another one:

  • Alright, so once you're on that beam - the situation is as follows:

  • Climb following this route, and you will be able to handle it:

  • Then go to the opposite end of the beam:

  • You'll need to get onto the upper beam from here, so:

  • And climb following this route:

  • Again, a screenshot just to make sure nobody misses anything:

  • Now, to follow this next route, you'll need to HAVE YOUR STAMINA UPGRADED, and also - USE THE PRO CLIMBING TECHNIQUE:

  • If you ask me why not start from the next beam - the answer is pretty simple:

  • So, once you're almost there:

  • And now you can heave a sigh of relief:

  • The only thing that left for you to do is this:

  • And there it is, guys, the roof:

In addition - I'm obviously not going to show you what's behind that red texture, because why would you climb onto that roof then? I'm just gonna say that if you re interested - TRY IT FOR YOURSELF, guys, BEFORE THIS MEME BECOMES REALITY:

P.S.
Despite the fact that I understand that my guide is nothing other than one big bug report - I would still like to ask the developers (if any of them read this) not to remove those things from the game, because in fact - they are absolutely harmless, and don’t spoil the original game concept at all.

With that said - THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE and GOOD LUCK! 😎🤚

Thank you for that guide, that climb felt like it's own rite of passage.

@Steve Thanks, I've begun using yours too since mine won't work when you transfer onto a non-climbable surface. Combined there are very few places you can't get.

@guiLe , literally - wow!😱 Well, I mean, if my tip is "pro" - then yours has to be "legend"😅

Nice find! I've been using a different technique to climb, it allows climbing to be faster, and from my testing also gets you higher overall (though perhaps this depends on how fast you tap, maybe a macro might get crazy results).

You let go of forwards, jump, then let go of jump and hold forwards again at peak height. Repeat over and over. It's honestly made the game a lot more fun - being able to climb most things and do it really quickly.

@CindyK_JA , thank you for the feedback! I'm really glad to hear that!
