Revert the Anniversary Edition update, make SKSE work again!

So, with the release of AE, many of our games got screwed, despite mods and expansion keeping this game replayable, they didn't care to make the update optional or anything, it was somewhat just sprung on us, but it's okay, I have the solution!

All this guide contains is a small set of steps, easy to follow, and a download link to a file on Nexus Mods that will basically reverse the patch. I was able to run it, and the first two gamesaves I tried were corrupt because of the update, they were autosaves that it created during me trying to get things to work, but the third one worked and I was able to re-save to avoid it happening again, but here are the steps to take first:

1. Go to your Library on Steam
2. Right-click Skyrim: Special Edition and select Properties
3. Select the Update tab
4. Set the game to ONLY update when run via Steam
(Running by the SKSE loader or Mod Manager won't trigger this update)

Then, once that's done, go to this link here:

Download, extract both the .exe and the folder into a single folder, and run the .exe, select patch, and let it do what it does. If you've updated SKSE, UN-update it, simply grab the old SE version from their site (Literally google SKSE and you'll find it, if you're into modding I imagine you already know how this works) and reinstall it over top of the new preliminary AE version, all your old mods that were SKSE-dependent will now work again!

It has almost 7k downloads, but I imagine it'll spread as more people find out about it, huge thanks to Halgari as the creator of the tool I've linked you to, what an absolute legend.

i was excited to play it again, and soon realized how impossible it was. the entire game is bugged now from the missions to the missing gold after i try to sell stuff.

killed the game for me i cant even legendary skills any more can see the button skills are 100 and not yet made legendary but cant use the option that makes the game hit a stone wall once all skills are maxed ( no more level advancement ) so yeah game breaking bugs are the only legacy this games got to turn its a shame

I'm trying to get septimus 2 on wabbajack and the installation keeps failing because it says "unable to download skse". Is anyone else having this problem?

If you are using SE unfortunately you will have to the the AE version instead.

Survival mode is shitty compared to Frostfall, Frostfall is waaay better for gameplay. More advanced too and more fun.

Also fishing wasn't asked for, heck AE wasn't asked for! It'd be fine if it was a separate thing like a branch. Then we wouldn't all be so pissed off at Bethesda, but no they had to force this on already own Skyrim game players. Thank gosh for this modder or we'd be gone from SE and back on oldrim mainly.

Alot of old mods I like, like Frostfall are more worth staying on SE then staying on shitty AE 'survival mode'

I've been thinking about re-modding SE from a fresh install. Do I still need to use the downgrade patcher even if I didn't purchase AE, but after a fresh install I will be at the most recent version.

@Frake - No harm in running this patcher (Best of both worlds OR the big Patcher) keep them both handy just in case...
