Honkai Impact 3rd basics: how to find crit rate

A short guide on what CRT actually is, why it is not the same as Crit Rate/Crit DMG and how to find a valkyrie's crit rate.

CRT ≠ Crit DMG/Rate

You probably noticed that some stigmatas, weapons and the valkyries themselves have the CRT stat.

CRT is a confusing thingy used in finding the actual rate with a small formula.
CRT is not related to CRIT DMG!

A way to find crit rate

To find the actual CRIT Rate, you will need the total CRT value, a valkyrie's level and straight CRIT Rate percents from other sources (stigmatas, weapons, skills).

Let us use the following as an example:
● the valkyrie: level 80 Swallowtail Phantasm;
● the total CRT value* (base** + stigmatas + weapons): 131;
● +20% CRIT Rate from stigmata Dirac (T).
*The total CRT value can be found in the valkyrie statistics, under the ATK stat.
**Base CRT gets higher as the valkyrie gets leveled up (higher level = higher base CRT).

In Honkai Impact 3, the CRIT Rate value is calculated using the following formula:
(CRT ÷ ([valkyrie's level] × 5 + 75) × 100) + [CRIT Rate percent from other sources] = ?]

Calculating using what we have:
(131 ÷ (80 × 5 + 75) × 100) + 20 = 47.57%

So, Swallowtail Phantasm has a 47.57% chance to deal a critical strike. Low? Yes. Now, for example, add SSS-rank Drive Kometa (augmentation of Yamabuki Armour) to the team as the leader, and CRIT Rate will suddenly skyrocket up to 83.57% (the leader skill + the shield passive skill). But you can increase CRIT Rate even further by adding Starlit Astrologos whose QTEs temporarily give you more CRIT Rate (charged attacks only).

Thus, turn your valkyries into monsters and deal double damage quite often.

Important

You should keep the following in mind:
● the total CRT value does not consider the CRT value from stigmata Affixes. You must yourself add it to the valkyrie's final CRT value before making calculations;

● CRIT DMG has a base value of 200% and can be increased only with things that give additional CRIT DMG;
● in Honkai Impact 3, only physical damage can crit. Elemental damage cannot crit and there is no elemental stigmata or weapon with CRIT Rate/DMG stats.
