How to use RuneLite through steam like a true chad

No replacing files. Guide for Windows & Linux. Common problems and how to fix.

Prerequisites

• Have OSRS downloaded through steam.
  
• Have RuneLite installed from the official website.

Guide

1. In your library right-click on OSRS and select properties.
   
2. Disable Steam Overlay and put the path to RuneLite into launch options.

Unless you've changed the path to RuneLite this should be:
For windows users ->

C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\RuneLite\Runelite.exe %command%

For linux users ->

/home/name/Applications/RuneLite.AppImage %command%

(obviously replace name with your actual name on your computer)

Note

To have your achievements show on steam:

• Delete the code from launch options.
  
• Launch the game from the steam client and log in.
  
• The achievements you unlocked should pop up.
  
• Close the game and just put the code in launch options again.
  
• Do this everytime you completed an achievement you want to show on your profile.

If encounter an error with the command:

• Make sure you entered the right path to your Runelite.exe (windows) or Runelite.AppImage (linux) file.
  
• If it still doesn't work this is probably because you installed RuneLite in a folder that contains a space.
  
• Just put the path you pasted in launch options in "quotes" to fix this.

You can now have all the benefits of using RuneLite and still have your OSRS play time and achievements show on your steam profile.

It doesn't work for me on linux through steamdeck it says downloading bootstrapper, then verifying and then it closes

I've hit a problem with it, it works fine loading up. However it then asks me to sign in to which I use my details and then it says they're incorrect and I need to go to Jagex to log in? any advice?

I had to move files to a public part of my computer because I was having issues with my computer name on my regular profile if this helps anyone too :) just switch the name of your computer to the spot you put it to.

You don't have to delete the code from the launch options to start the game to get achievements. Just go to >Manage >Browse Local Files then open the osclient.exe file.
