MUV-LUV Extra/Unlimited *COMPLETE* Guide

A Walk-through for MUV-LUV Extra + Unlimited.

This guide covers the routes for every girl in both Extra and Unlimited.

It lays out their routes in a simple and easy-to-follow format.

Once you have completed a route, you can use Auto-skip in the settings to breeze past previous dialog in order to see the additional changes for each girl.

Introduction

This guide was made in an effort to maximize the quality of your MUV-LUV experience.

I wanted to make a guide that was as inclusive as possible, meaning that every heroine is accounted for and no decision was over-looked.

I believe that it is important to do every route before playing Alternative, as each and every route has heavy bearing on Alternative. To fully squeeze out every bit of enjoyment that you can out of the peak of the every installment of the trilogy, especially Alternative, this guide was made for you to have the optimal experience. It also gives you the option to just do a few of the endings as they are clearly laid out, but at least with a warning before-hand as your own experience is something highly personal.
(Regardless of the first impressions that each girl gives you, many people come to love and appreciate them after doing their respective routes. So I recommend giving them each a chance.)

Most of the decisions in the game are pretty self-intuitive in Extra, but in Unlimited they get a bit more difficult to know whose route you are following.

Make sure to save often in order to not lose your progress. You may also make a save file for every decision point if you wish.

Once you complete a route , you can use the auto-skip feature to skip over previously read text, so that you are not wasting time and can get straight to the new decisions which lead to new character arcs and decision.

MUV-LUV Extra Guide

Following Kimi go Nozomu Eien and Akane Maniax (Age's previous games that are interconnected) is MUV-LUV Extra, which references the previous work a good amount. It is not currently necessary to play Kimi Nozo, but if you wish to understand a lot of the jokes references that satirize their previous work, then go for it!

Shirogane Takeru is your average, everyday high school student that everyone in school knows, portrayed over thousands of times in Japanese media. He starts out a bit self-absorbed and at times can be a lazy trouble-maker. He often finds himself in the arcade with his best friend Mikoto playing Valgern-On (whenever Mikoto decides to show up). He has a childhood friend named Sumika that he finds himself playing practical jokes on. He has a Class-Rep who won't seem to leave him alone that pesters him to work harder. This is often thwarted by the silent, but provocative Ayamine who pushes Class-Rep's buttons. Takeru often finds his friend Tama mediating between all of these arguments. One day the unexpected happens as Takeru wakes up beside a mysterious female named Meiya. And ever since that day, Takeru's life has been full of exponential insanity. Will this new development that shifts the entire balance of his life be a dream come true... or his greatest nightmare?

You can win the tag-team Valgern-on fight against Mikoto. I recommend saving beforehand and testing a few different strategies if you really want to win, but this will not affect the routes in any other way except maybe give you a few short lines of dialog.

If you choose to ignore the Sumika/Meiya guides above and choose to be indecisive between Sumika and Meiya (making decisions to earn points towards them an equal amount of times), then the game will force you to manually choose between Sumika or Meiya before it branches into their exclusive endings. If you prefer the mind-numbing drama of making that choice on your own, this is for you!

You can trigger this by:

• During lunch, either run away or eat both.
  
• Alternate between decisions that affect affection points towards Sumika and Meiya
  
• On 10/31 the partner you receive is the partner that has higher affection points. Use this as a method of determining how to balance between the two.
  
• On 11/3 the girl that talks to you is the girl whose route you're on track to follow. Use this as a method of determining which decisions you need to make in order to be back on track.

The event will take place on the hill with Tsukuyomi near the end of the routes.

This is not a game breaking spoiler, but if you prefer to go in blind then you can come back and read this after the first couple of chapters in Unlimited:

The very last route you complete in MUV-LUV Extra will affect Unlimited . The last heroine whose route you completed will be the first heroine you encounter in Unlimited. If need be, the last thing you do before you start Unlimited is to use auto-skip to replay the route of the heroine you want to encounter first in Unlimited. In addition, they will also get an entire extra scene in Unlimited. Note: If Sumika is the last route you do in Extra, then the first heroine you will see in Unlimited is Meiya.

This guide maximizes your choices in an effort to give you a chance to see the highlights of every heroine. As I said, it is a personal choice to do every single route, but it is heavily recommended to do them all as they will affect their overall characterization and overall your enjoyment/understanding of MUV-LUV Alternative. Yuuko's Ending is also very heavily recommended even if you decide to not do every route and is only unlocked once you complete your 1st ending.

Decisions in Unlimited that change MUV-LUV Alternative events :

1. The decisions you make on the island's CCSE Test in Unlimited will directly alter the decisions you are able to make in Alternative. Therefore, presuming you are playing legally and both games are in their respective folders, then you will have a customized experience in one of the early chapters of MUV-LUV Alternative. It isn't the biggest life-changing effect on Alternative and it's basically flavor text, but it's an effect nonetheless. Just make sure you picked up the Canteen and you will have extra choices for Alternative.
   
2. Same as with Extra to Unlimited. The final route that you complete in Unlimited will carry towards Alternative. This girl will be the first girl that you encounter before the OP plays, similar to Unlimited. In addition this will alter a couple of events in Alternative. Note: This only works with legal versions as they have a carryover file system between the two games.

Decisions in Unlimited that Unlock Secret CGs in MUV-LUV Alternative :
So far this only works in the legal versions as I said before, but the final girl whose route you complete in Unlimited is Ayamine Kei, then the game will give you a secret variation CG in Alternative. There is a carryover data feature that makes this possible. So if you're playing on Steam or any of the legal disc versions this will definitely work.

Hello! I have a question.
How is it possible to determine the last route I did in Unlimited worked for Alternative? I know for sure that If you finish some route in Extra and then you basically meet this girl in the start of Unlimited. I just want to know if there is a similar or other way to determine the same thing with Unlimited to Alternative.

Some important points missing here regarding unlocks based on past playthroughs, both for Unlimited and Alternative:
For Kei to have a CQC scene (the "1. Because we'll be fighting people someday?" choice on 11/01, you must play her ending in Extra first. This CQC scene in Extra is mandatory to unlock her secret CG (which is actually a whole scene) in Alternative Episode 2.

As mentioned by others, the Unlimited Complete achievement seems to have a bug where it doesn't unlock even if you have all endings cleared. This thread mentions a solution which is simply to load and play an already unlocked ending and once you're back to the main menu it will unlock the achievement:

Therefore, try and keep a save near an ending, that way you can quickly unlock the achievement in case it bugs out under normal gameplay.

Question.
I'm on steam deck, meaning Linux, meaning proton. So this and alternative on paper count as completely different devices. Since you specifically mentioned both games needing to be in their own folders I assume steam cloud won't take care of the save checking.
Would I be fine just copying the the single save file to alternative's prefix or would I need to copy the whole game?

To get that achievement you need to read everything that is written in this novel.

If you just follow this guide, I think you missed a text around episode 2. Around [Hold it gently with my left hand...] and [Steady]. play around that part. There's a combination of choices that you didn't try yet.

If it's not that, try the next back-to-back choice on the same episode. Basically you need to replay episode 2, make saves on every choice and try different combination of answers.

I have the same problem before and that was the part that I missed. Hope it helps
