Intruder FAQ for Common Issues

Here you can find a concise list of common issues you can face while playing Intruder and how to fix them. If none of these solutions help, join the official Intruder Discord server for further assistance!

My microphone isn’t working in-game, but works with other programs.
  1. Is the Green bar in the bottom left corner moving when you talk?
    • Try leaving that lobby and joining a new one.
    • If that doesn’t work, try restarting your game.

  2. Are you on a Mac?
    • Close your game. Try removing the existing microphone permissions then adding them back. You can do this through the “Security and Privacy” settings.

  3. Do you have a Razer headset?
    • Unity, for whatever reason, really hates Razer headsets. To fix this issue, follow this other guide. This is the only solution we have at the moment.

  4. Do you have a SteelSeries Headset?
    • Unity, for whatever reason, really hates SteelSeries headsets. To fix this issue, disable all other input devices on your computer besides the one you plan to use. If that doesn't work, follow this guide.

  5. Do you have a USB headset?
    • Sometimes USB headsets don’t work with Unity either. Why? We don’t know. Can we fix it? Probably with this helpful and handy guide.
My resolution is messed up/not available/unchangeable!
  1. Try the following:
    • Right click Intruder inside of your Steam library.
    • Click on Properties.
    • Copy the following into your Launch Options and change the underlined numbers to your monitor’s resolution:
      -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080 -screen-fullscreen 1
Nvidia Shadow play isn’t working/recording my game!
  • Do you have desktop recordings on?
    1. Open GeForce Experience and navigate to Preferences > ShadowPlay and activate the “Allow Desktop Capture” option. This will save your recording as “Desktop”.

  • “I don’t want to enable Desktop recordings!”
    1. Close intruder.exe (the game)
    2. Open up the Nvidia control panel and navigate to 3d settings > Manage 3d settings > Program Settings
    3. Click “add” and navigate the list and find Intruder.exe.
    4. You should now be able to record Intruder. Opening the Nvidia overlay still alt-tabs the game, but now you can use shadowplay to record
I’m receiving an EAC access violation after launching my game!
  • Do you have a program called “Citrix” installed?
    1. You can apparently disable the “Citrix Virtual Bus Enumerator” and the “Virtual video driver” for Citrix. This should allow you to launch the game.
    2. Another player just had to disable “Citrix Virtual Bus Enumerator”, which worked for them. Do whatever works for you.

  • Do you have any RGB peripherals?
    1. Your software could be interfering with EAC, the anti cheat for the game. Disable/Uninstall the software and see if the error is resolved.
I’m getting an EAC error that isn’t listed!
  • Did you try searching for the error on google?
    1. A majority of errors people ask about can easily be solved by Googling the error code. Please search for the error on the internet before asking questions. It’ll save everyone involved some time.

  • Do you own any other working EAC games?
    1. If you don’t then this could be a problem with EAC, not Intruder. We might not be able to help you if that’s the case, but you’re still welcomed to join the Discord and we can attempt to solve the issue. https://superbossgames.com/chat
I can’t find my friend’s server!
  • Are you friends with them on Steam?
    1. Have your friend invite you directly through the friends tab in-game. You can access this tab by opening the Team Menu [T] then clicking "Friends"
  • Do you know any details about the server?
    1. Use the filters to reduce the number of servers shown to find your friend’s server. You can also search for the Server name and map while in the server browser.
No servers are showing up or they’re all empty!
  • Are you on the latest version of the game?
    1. Go to the main menu and check the build number in the lower left corner. If it doesn't match with the build on the most recent update, verify the integrity of your game on steam and try again.
    2. If you are still stuck on an old build you try restarting your PC or even reinstalling Intruder.
My keyboard doesn’t work in game/I can't rebind keys!
  • Do you have a controller plugged in?
    1. Make sure all controllers or other input devices are disconnected to prevent interference. If a key rebinds to something like "Left Stick Up", which it shouldn't due to a previous update, this is because you have a controller connected.

  • Are your key bindings set?
    1. Check your key bindings in the options tab and assign any missing keys.
    2. If you can't see any keybinds, or you're still having issues: Uninstall the game and delete the Intruder folder in your AppData folder (AppData\LocalLow\SuperbossGames_com\Intruder) and reinstall the game.
I get a “Timed Out” error when I try to load into a custom map!
  • Do you have automatic downloads turned off?
    1. The map can't be downloaded if that's the case. Enable automatic downloads in steam so you can load into custom maps.

  • Do you have the map downloaded?
    1. Ensure that the map download is not paused in your Steam download manager.
    2. Try subscribing to the map on the steam workshop and then after the download completes relaunch Intruder and try again.
    3. Unsubscribe and resubscribe to guarantee you have the most up-to-date version of the map.

  • Do you have enough Hard Drive space?
    1. Ensure there’s enough room to allow the custom map to download from the Steam Workshop.
I’m receiving a UUID error when I try to join a server/It says “Disconnected” in the bottom left corner on the Main Menu!
  • Does any of this apply?:
    1. "I can't connect to https://intruderfps.com/
    2. "I can see players inside lobbies through the server browser, but I can't join/load into the server.”
    3. “The server browser isn’t loading”

    Try restating Steam. Your game could be having trouble connecting to Steam's web services.

    If that doesn't work, then your internet could be blocking the game’s website and servers. Make sure you’re not on a VPN or your Anti-Virus isn’t blocking the connection. These issues can also arise if you’re on University internet.

I bought the game before it was available on Steam! Give me my key!!!
  • Did you try logging onto the Intruder website to claim your Steam key?
    1. Log in here[intruderfps.com] and follow the instructions.
I’m getting a launch error: Invalid game executable!
  • Do you have an Anti-Virus? Specifically Avast?
    • The Intruder.exe is probably getting false flagged for being a virus, which it’s not. This has been happening after a recent update to the game.
      1. Navigate to your Antivirus Program and check if Intruder.exe is being quarantined/deleted. Allow/Trust the application if it is.

  • If you don’t have an Antivirus program, or it’s not opening after allowing/trusting the Intruder.exe, try this:
    1. Open Steam
    2. Uninstall Intruder
    3. Navigate to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders and delete your download cache.
    4. Click on Steam Library Folders, right click the install folder and click Repair Download Folder
My game is crashing before reaching the Main Menu/My game won’t finish downloading!
  • Make sure you’re not using the Linux operating system. The game only supports Windows and Mac OS.
  • Try restarting Steam.
  • Try restarting your PC.
  • Try verifying the game files through Steam:
    1. Right Click Intruder > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity
  • Try reinstalling the game.
My game has no sound!
  • Try restarting Steam
  • Ensure your game is using your sound device.
    1. Search for Sound in windows
    2. Click App volume and device preferences under Advanced Sound Options. From there, you can force the game to use a specific sound device.

  • Temporary switch to a different sound device to see if the game audio is working.
If nothing else works.

for some reason my game keeps telling me "sorry, steam is not connecting. make sure it is running and try again"

Nice!!!!!!! You saved my day!

I hadn't realized that I was out of space on my SSD and when I tried to access the server it asked me to download the map, but it's the game's default map that already comes with it so I didn't pay attention to that. I reinstalled, deleted the Appdata folders and nothing, I was almost giving up and asking for a refund when I decided to look again and found this article, it was only then that I understood my problem. There could be some warning, right, some error log due to not having more space.

Excerpt from the article that helped me solve my problem:
* Do you have enough Hard Drive space?
- Ensure there’s enough room to allow the custom map to download from the Steam Workshop.
