How to farm coins in pre-hardmode

My guide to teach you how to farm coins before enternig hardmode!

Part 1

DISCLAIMER: THE SCREENSHOTS IN THIS GUIDE HAVE BEEN MADE IN HARDMODE, BUT ALL OF THAT I WILL EXPLAIN IN THIS GUIDE IS POSSIBLE TO BE DONE IN PRE-HARDMODE


This gold making method consist in farming a boss and the old one's army.
In this first part of the guide I will explain what the old one's army is, how to farm it and how to get gold of it.
In the second part of the guide I will explain how to farm a boss without having to search for things to spawn it.


What is the old one's army and how to spawn it?

The old one's army is an event that can be spawneed by the player.
To start this event you will need to build a skybase, and to find the tavernkeeper.
The tavernkeeper will sell you the Eternia Crystal Stand and Eternia Crystals, you will need to place the Stend at the center of the skybase.

(This is the Stand in the tavernkeeper shop):



Once you placed the Stand at the center of the skybase, the only thing you have to do for the event to start is to place a Eternia Crystal.

If you have started the event correctly this should happen:



Two portals will spawn at both sides of the Stand, and after a few the first wave of enemy will came from the portals



Enemies you kill will only drop "etherian mana", a thing that will disappear once the waves are finished, but if you get to clear all of the waves without the crystal getting destroyed by the enemies you will get 5 medals.



With this medals you can buy special tools at the tavernkeeper's shop.
With this tool it will be more easy for you to complete the waves, because they use etherian mana to spawn turrets who kill enemies.
The great part is that you can also sell this tools you buy for 5 medals each for 1 gold, 6 silver and 38 copper.
Also minibosses and bosses has a chance to drop stuff you can sell for more coins



So basically the only thing you will have to do is keep farming medals and using them to buy things to resell for coins.

Part 2

In this second part of the Guide I am gonna explain something we can consider a "side hustle", in fact this is not gonna give us a lot of money, but it's still a thing we can do even while farming the old one's army.

This gold making method consist in farming a boss: the Skeletron.

A lot of players don't know that, but it's pretty easy to farm that boss.

In order to do that you need the "Clothier vodoo doll", that can be droppen by enemies in the skeletron's dungeon



When this voodoo doll is equippen in our inventory we will be able to damage the clothier as we can do to enemies, and when he will die skeletron will spawn.



Once the skeletron will be dead you will be able to sell skeletron drops to npcs, and during the next day (if there is at least 1 home for every npc you have unlocked in your town) the clothier will come back, so you will be able to kill him again the next night

Conclusion

So, once you will have the skybase, the tavernkeep and the clothier doll you only need to keep farming the old one's army and the skeletron to farm coins!

@Lk_Gd gemcorns can be crafted by combining gems and regular acorns. They only grow underground and have to be planted on a form of stone, but grow like regular trees outside of that. They can drop 0-5 of their gems each, along with 0-4 more gemcorns. This makes gems infinitely renewable, assuming luck doesn't hate you.
