How I got my PC to run Disciples Sacred Lands Gold

4 Steps I took to make Disciples run on my computer.

4 Simple Steps.

Step 1.

Make sure you are working with a fresh install you have not messed with.
- If you have tried modding or anything else to make the game run what I did may not work for
you.

Step 2.

Navigate to Disciples Folder within your steam games folder.
- Path should look something like this
- PC / Drive X: / Steam / steamapps / common / Disciples Sacred Lands Gold
(Spaces added for legibility and not present in actual path)
***Note that for anyone with Steam installed in C: an extra section "Program Files (x86)"
will be between the drive section and Steam section shown above. I highly recommend
that you NEVER install Steam in C: as it can cause all kinds of problems in
itself. Personally I have a specific Games Drive on my PC.***

Step 3. "This is where the real work happens"

In the EXE file of the Disciples directory shown above do the following
a. Click on Config .exe
- Deselect both Use Direct Draw and Use Direct Sound Options
- Save and Close
b. Right Click on Disciples .exe. Select Properties and the Compatibility Tab
- Run this program in compatibility Mode for.
- Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
- Select Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution
- Run this program as an administrator
- Apply and Close
c. Open DISCIPLE.INI and change the installation pathways to match you setup. Be sure to
save any changes.
- Below is an example of mine.

Step 4.

Run the Game.


This worked for me I can't guarantee it will work for you but I hope it helps. Depending on your setup it is possible that any combination of the tweaks in Step 3 may fix your problem. I recommend that you test the game after completing specific tweak listed in Step 3. Good Luck and Happy Gaming

Disciples 1 require one empty virtual or real cd-disc drive.
