How to Reset Your Cave Choice!
By Corruptor55
Hello there! I'm making this guide so that more people know how to reset their cave choice(mushrooms/bats) in Stardew Valley. It's essentially a re-post of the same guide on Reddit, just with my own twist. Here's the original thread, if you'd like to see it: https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/48zdww/how_to_reset_your_batmushroom_cave_choice/

Now without further ado, let's begin!

Step 1
First, we need to launch Stardew Valley, and go into the farm whose cave you'd like to reset. Remove any objects you've placed in that cave, go to sleep(to save), and exit the game.
I only have one save file in my case, just as an example.
Step 2
Before you do ANYTHING else - BACKUP YOUR SAVE FILE. This is important, as if you make a mistake, you could end up breaking your farm, making it unplayable.

...anyways, to get to this "save file", Press the Windows Key + R to open up Run. Once it's open, simply type %AppData% and press Enter.

This will open up the "AppData/Roaming" section in the files tab. From there, navigate to StardewValley>Saves>(YourFarmName), and backup the entire "(YourFarmName)" Folder.
For the few who don't know, just copy this folder to a USB Drive/your desktop to "back it up".
Step 3
Now that you've(hopefully) backed up your save folder, just open up the original save file. DO NOT open up the "_old" save file, we'll be editing the regular one. I'd highly recommend opening it up with Notepad, as that's what the original guide is based on.
Step 4
Once you open up the file, you'll see a crap ton of text. Don't worry, I'll explain what you need to focus on. Since there's no in-game option to reset your cave, you'll need to edit some lines of code within the save file to do so. We'll start by pressing Ctrl + F, and typing <eventsSeen> in the search bar. Pressing Enter will select the nearest "<eventsSeen>" text within the file.
Scroll below that a bit, and you'll see the text <int>65</int>. If you don't, you can also search for it using Ctrl + F again. Just make sure it's near the first "<eventsSeen>", and delete it using the Backspace/Delete key. Once you're done, save the file(/press Ctrl + S) to apply these changes.
Deleting "<int>65</int>" will also delete Demetrius' cave cutscene from your save history, causing it to trigger again next time you enter. This will allow you to essentially "reset your cave choice".
Step 4.5(Skip if Converting From Bats to Mushrooms!)
As said in this step's title, you can gladly skip if you're switching from a bat cave to a mushroom cave. If not, you'll have to modify a little more text to delete the mushroom boxes as well. Don't give up, I will explain this as well. Use the search command Ctrl + F(as discussed earlier) and type in <GameLocation xsi:type="FarmCave">.
Right below that is the text <objects>. Simply select that - keep holding Left Click(/Shift if using a keyboard) - and scroll all the way down to </objects>. You should be right near where it says "<terrainFeatures />".
Once all of that's selected, delete the text and replace it with <objects />(or simply copy and paste to do the same thing). As with the previous step, save your file to apply these changes.
Step 5
Now that you've done everything, close your file, launch the game, and enter your farm in Stardew Valley! After walking out of the house, the cave choice dialogue should be reset, with Demetrius happy to see you! Just like the first time, you will pick between mushrooms and bats. Select whichever choice you prefer :)
If you came to this guide just to pick the same option again, no worries! Maybe you were just seeing if this actually worked? Whatever your reason, I appreciate you sticking around ^^
Conclusion
Thank you for looking at my guide! Feel free to rate, comment, share, etc. so that more people can see it! ^^ (if not, I hope this helped you anyways!)

Great guide :stardrop: my only complaint is step 4.5 could be a little more clear with it's wording seeing as I almost deleted "<GameLocation xsi:type="FarmCave">" but that's 100% my fault since I was mostly just looking at the photos :stardrop:

@littlek3000 stop acting like a little child. People are just trying to help and you come in here and behave like nobody ever taught you manners.

@ElderFreya well maybe because they're getting it to work, and if they can understand the author better than I obviously can, maybe they can help me more than the author. Either piss off or provide a solution. Why continue to be a waste of human life, wasting time for 0 reason?

@littlek3000 instead of asking everyone who isn't the guide author. Why don't you try asking them for help?
